Pimentel looked good for the first two minutes. 'Boxing well. But, one punch can change everything. And Gesta--WOW. That guy's looking like a little Tyson.
I think Mercito should switch to Orthodox.His left hand did absolutely nothing in this fight. I noticed in the second he switch right handed and dropped the mexican. I think he should experiment with that stance. He just doesn't look comfy as a lefty.
I like the way you he handle his opponents, the strength and speed are there,focus on head movements and defense, you gonna need it on big fights and most of all be humble and leave your feet on the ground...we'll be watching and hey I might buy you a beer in the Fusion.
he probably needs 2 to 3 more fights before arum pit him against the lions of 135-140.dont get too excited as he's style is prone to counter punching and leaves himself open too many times.obviously got hurt by some body punches but im glad he just shugged it off like a dundruff lol.i just thought rios will be too much for him at this point.

I'm surprised by the amount of hype Gesta is starting to receive. He's probably becoming more hyped than any other Filipino prospect before. It's kinda funny because Gesta said that he doesn't want to be compared to Pac, but then Arum claims he's the next Pac lol. The truth is Gesta still has a long way to go. This kid's style is must see! He has a real bold, confident way about him in the ring. I dont know if that approach will work once he steps up in competition. I'd like to see more head movement, more slips, and for him to sharpen that defense so that he doesnt get hit as much: progressing his elusiveness should be his #1 priority.

I'm happy Gesta won, but i'm not convinced the way he fights. He has a lot to learn in boxing especially his footwork and defense. He only defend his power punch and is very slack in his defense.

he probably needs 2 to 3 more fights before arum pit him against the lions of 135-140.dont get too excited as he's style is prone to counter punching and leaves himself open too many times.obviously got hurt by some body punches but im glad he just shugged it off like a dundruff lol.i just thought rios will be too much for him at this point.

@fretduster03 Agreed, Gesta is decent but we dont know how he will fair against the elite. Right now would be a good time to step up to B-level comp
Hopefully his team is wise enough to know how to build him, like Mikey Garcia's team. Both are young (same age in fact lol) and talented. Maybe sometime in the furture Gesta will be picked up by a decent trainer, not saying he should dump the Parras as they can still stay as his manager

to those who said he has only fought bum fighters. hes been winning with all these bums wasnt he? 22 wins with no loss and been winning with ease, knocking out his opponents his last several fights? wasnt that the case with julio cesar chavez early on in his career? all he fought was bums. isnt that how he got to 100 wins, by beating on bums?

quick hands, crisp powerful punch and good combinations...lots of potential! i guess he knows he can take pimentels punches, coz he was just coming in with very little defense or head movement, i hope that was the case because with top caliber opponents, that would be like a sitting duck. anyways, great win mercito...BENS cafe na lol! lakas mag promote ni joena e.

I'm surprised by the amount of hype Gesta is starting to receive. He's probably becoming more hyped than any other Filipino prospect before. It's kinda funny because Gesta said that he doesn't want to be compared to Pac, but then Arum claims he's the next Pac lol. The truth is Gesta still has a long way to go. He needs to start fighting ranked fighters or he's going to become accustomed to feasting on bums. He leaves himself way to open for counters.

This kid's style is must see! He has a real bold, confident way about him in the ring. I dont know if that approach will work once he steps up in competition. I'd like to see more head movement, more slips, and for him to sharpen that defense so that he doesnt get hit as much: progressing his elusiveness should be his #1 priority.
I hope he continues to work hard to improve and that he maintains his humble attitidue. Good luck to Mercito Gesta.Can't wait for his next fight!

Mercito Gesta was relentless and confident but still I don't think he is ready yet for Brandon Rios or Vasquez.

gesta vs Katsidis would be a good fight. gesta has a lot of potential but fighting 8 rounders against journeymen is not going to get him a title fight. Get real. Let's see who he fights next. I know that mercito is more than ready to challenge bambam hopefully later this year, but I don't think big boss bob would let this fight happen, coz he's afraid that mercito would destroy rios that would also eventually destroys bob's promising plan that he had in for rios. Gesta needs to step up his competition if he expects to get any better. He looks like he could become a decent all around fighter, but he's kind of small and right now, I don't think he's displaying exceptional skill or power.
