Well, this might be one reason B would divorce E, as the latter takes obtuseness to a high art. "Lemme in, Ernie, lemme in, lemme in, lemme in, lemme in, lemme in!"
That's true but, maybe he was either going to walk to the store that wasn't too far away or, he was just going to Hooper's Store which is a store next door to the apartment building that Ernie and Bert live in so he wouldn't of had to drive there.
Playmates01 wrote that this was one of the best and funniest. I really do not think it is funny when Bert gets angry or when Ernie never learns how to NOT to aggravate him. It seems that these 2 have little in common, and I don't understand why they room together. Maybe Bert would be better off rooming with Telly?
No no no! That is the one thing Bert MUST NOT say! It would ruin the whole setup! Remember, this is the Cartoon Universe, and you NEVER say the only thing that would clear up the whole mess of whatever you're in :-)
No, because this is ERNIE we're taking about, he'd probably just say, "No, no, I know you're really still practicing! And doing a good job of it too! It's really clever to pretend you forgot your money! Just keep it up while I take my bath!"
Bert: "Auuuuuughhh!!!!! Lemme in! Lemme in, lemme in, lemme in!" and so on...
This episode is epic! And I never use that word - except, it is. Crystal clear quality! One of the rare instances where the two buddies act like adults.

Ernie's just doing what Bert wants him to do. It's berts fault for telling ernie about praticing.

@OzzieCrackers
But then, Bert would probably end up yelling and screaming no matter what he told Ernie!
With Ernie's logic Bert can never really win.

I love how Bert goes nuts! I think Ernie does this on purpose to get a rise out of old Bert and make us laugh!

@Jibjub80 I mean I think that's the point... Remember the target audience is four years old.
And sometimes I think Ernie knows perfectly well how not to aggravate Bert. He just does it because it's funny.

I feel bad for poor Bert. Do you guys think that Ernie would have let him in if he stated, "This is not practice. I forgot my money?"
Jibjub80 2 years ago 10
Maybe, but then again he also might also say "a likely story, Bert!"
