  • you know it's a bad idea to get that if you need a face mask, fan, and heavy gloves. that's a chemical and is very dangerous. plus you don't even wash it out, you leave it in there... bad idea!

  • Having your hair relaxed b4 treatment kind of defeats the purpose. U just want healthy hair, not a chemical combo that won't match your natural hair grade.

  • wow thank u

  • SOOO WHY CANT YOU GET THE TREATMENT ON THE SCALP AGAIN?

  • I find one does not use songs

    Maybe you can search

"Keratin Treatment_Step By Step_Video", it looks much better more professional. ^ ^

  • I think formaldehyde is a chemical =)

  • Get the straight facts along with lovely smooth hair! Search "Hair Smoothing Controversy" and "Chemical Source Capture System". Formaldehyde or glutaraldehyde vapors are produced when the flat iron reaches 450 degrees and contacts the hair. Preferred BKT ventilation includes using a Chemical Source capture System and Salon Air Purifier. A fan will just redistribute vapors in the salon! Learn more about protecting the breathing zone of both the stylist and client. Go to Aerovex Systems web site.

  • cough cough carcinogen cough

  • For everyone who is wigging out over the formaldehyde...

There are many popular brands of conditioner which contain formaldehyde under a different name. You can buy them at any drugstore. There's no way to know the % w/o having them analyzed BUT people use them daily. Imagine the buildup of formaldehyde from daily use. Add a blow dryer and flat iron.

It may be better to get wigged out over ^^that since many of the conditioners are used on toddlers ya know?

@ least we KNOW up front w/BKT.

  • Keratin treatments for smoothing and straightening hair often utilize either formaldehyde or glutaraldehyde.

The most effective measure of safety to avoid the excessive levels of these vapors can be obtained by using a chemical source capture system with one or more salon room air purifiers.

These systems have been tested by scientific expert Doug Schoon and have been found to be an effective means for lowering exposure to safe levels.

  • i used this stuff on my pubes, and i can put them in nice pony tails now

  • i think this is just a gimmick. if you use a 400 degree flat iron on hair it will get straight. how long is this supposed to last? I want to see what someone's hair looks like after they wash it.

  • Research this stuff heavily. Even the ones that claim not to have FORMALDEHYDE still have a derivative of it. Supposedly gas masks are supposed to be worn? WHAT??!! This stuff from all of the material I have seen is dangerous. I think I'll take curls over cancer any day.

  • hy i will like to do this but i live in dusseldorf /germany pls pls pls help me out to find a salon where to do it. kiss kiss

  • @nextangel82

In europe its call little bit different , you can go to salon and ask for permit hair straightining

  • Well my dumb ass BGF used this shit for 4 months and burnt her hair out, warned her. Oh well. What fool puts 450 degrees of heat in their hair and thinks nothing bad is going to happen???? Y'all crazy.

  • @brassflower - I know your post was 6 mos ago. Unless she used 450 degree heat every day w/o thermal protection of any sort, I doubt it was the iron that did it. More likely it was an overdose of protein. Not enough protein and hair breaks. Too much protein and hair breaks. If she had this done every month for 4 months str8 it wouldn't shock me if it was a bad case of over conditioning. It doesn't help that some stylists believe the more damage the better for this.

  • do you have a salon in california and where do you buy the product

  • It wouldn't hurt to check this article as well, is very wisely to research before doing anything to your appereance that will have to do with chemicals

  • can guys use this

  • off course

  • Btw keratin is found in ur hair naturally it accounts for 87% of your hairs makeup so it is healthy.Just because it's fro ur body dosnt mean if you extract it it wont be a little irritating.Think about stomach fluids for instance its in our body and helps it but out in the real world it breaks down many materials so please do your research before you post ignorant comments!!! :)

  • There are non formaldehyde versions of the product if you plan to get it done please be sure to ask ur stylist for the treatment with no formoldehyde. The non-formoldehyde treatment

  • "It's not a chemical" but you're wearing black plastic gloves, a mask and you have a fan going?

    Riiiiiiiight.

Do y'all know this mess has FORMALDEHYDE in it? Just incase you didn't know, that's embalming fluid for dead folk.

  • Yea, Bone straight is for corpses. When I saw all the protective gear I was like...nah, that couldn't be me. Ef it! I'm rocking what God made.

  • Diamond in the rough

  • Let's not forget the safety glasses...

  • lol

  • @brassflower...I agree with you and WhereYaBoss, on many of your points! All of that protective regalia means much here. The fact of the hair being ironed numerous times at that heat level in the same area is very damaging also. With that many swipes of the iron, her hair would be straight regardless. Using a Keratin shampoo would work just as well without all the fancy long name.

  • @brassflower wow

  • @brassflower That was my first thought as well when I saw all the protective gear. Who never put this on my hair.

  • @brassflower ye, thats stupid. But u can get formaldehyde free ones too.

  • @xXSPAZZOXx15

Unfortunately even the supposedly "formol free" ones have it in them under a different name. They get away with it because the FDA doesn't regulate formaldehyde in cosmetics.

  • Comment removed

  • @brassflower that's what I'm saying...LOL.

  • even in the video the girl's hair looks kinda processed and waxy...is this a semi-permanent straightening method? thats the only reason i would ever recommend using this because better results can be achieved with no chemicals using a ghd flat iron. this seems like a lot of work for straight hair.

  • I got this treatment before and I was upset because my hair looked wierd when it was first done. Felt like a waste of money but when you wash it out,, thats the beauty they should show what hair looks like after its rinsed

  • I wouldn't even want to get paid to put that product in my hair. It look scary and dangerous. I hope that it will not cause health problems the more you get that done.

  • is this really healthy for your hair if so how

  • hey if you did this at home...did you have an iron that went to 450 degrees. i wonder if that's reallly important

  • just had this process done and my hair feels waxy and greasy.. is this normal ?

  • Me too! I just had it done yesterday and my hair feels waxy and looks very dull.

Can you please let me know if this is normal?

How did your hair look after you washed it?

  • In the info box you state that the more you get the treatment done the better it looks and works. Well how often do you recommend going to have this service done. I know when you get a relaxer its supposed to be about every 8 to ten weeks before you touch up. I would like to corodinate my visits.

  • what about heat damage??

  • this isn't something like the japanese straighten method? which one is better for a straight hair even after taking a shower?

  • so if your hair is virgin the first time it wont work?? but the second time it will....?

  • in a virgin hair work depend how porous it is , it works better on damage hair

  • Where can I that micro flat iron?

  • I got this done three times and it left my hair very nice and soft, however there was formol :( I've done in Brazil. Does anyone know if I can get this done in Santiago de Chile, Dublin Ireland or Berlin in Germany? Thanks

  • i also want to know where i can get keratin straightening in Berlin. I've been doing this procedure for over a year now, in LA & NYC, but I recently moved to Berlin and now don't know where to go!! :( suppose even another place in the EU will do if I have to take a train ride, I will. I LOVE having straight hair this way. thx

  • i dont know overseas sorry...

  • i am speciallize in this treatmant in manhetten n,y call 646-554-4616 gia

  • where are u located specifically? i live in NYC.

  • have A QUESTION..WHAT ABOUT THE FIRST HAIR WASH?? will my hair look the same after having the treatment or i have to blow dry it again to look that way??

by the way my hair isn't long or short..and my hair is good..i mean it's not very bad..i think one treatment is enough..what do u think??

  • after the bkt you wait 3 days and the first wash do it with a sodium chloride free shampoo and you need to air dry ,no blow dry,and with a brus give direction to the ends or dont do nothing will look flatter but no direction

  • Do yourself a favor and check into this treatment. First off, there is no proof that BKT strengthens hair. And as for the straightening, that is all done with the flat iron. But this is more than trickery. The active ingredient in this treatment is formaldehyde and at concentrations 10x that which are safe. And the fumes are potentially life threatening.

  • i dont use formaldelhy

  • Why do you need masks if you dont you formaldehyde or any other carcinogens?

  • you shoudl use a mask for all chemicals, like hair color, bleach, perm, relaxer and brazilians because they are mild irritants of the respiratory track when you are expose to it.

we should do it ... do we do it? no every body

  • If you live in CT call 203-215--5525. I specialize in this treament for $200.

  • I have used all other products and this one trully proved to be the best one!!!

im very happy with this, my clients are supper happy they keep referring people to me!!

this is by far the best product and i say this after intensive research!! THANK YOU GLOBAL KERATIN!!!

  • does the carifying shampoo have to be sulfate or sodium chloride free?

  • most of them do have sodium laureth sulfate and if they dont check in the ingredients list

but any clarify shampoo too often will remove build up ,they are stong sothe change to remove the brazilian is higher

  • how much is it?

  • yes please

  • how much was it?

  • Where can you get this done in Canada?

  • sorry i dont know but i can ask

  • I would like to do this but my hair is very curly and I refuse to put perm for 3 years because it damaged my hair so it's chemical free. Are in florida? If not, can you recommend a good hairstylist in Fl probably in miami or fort lauderdale area or the surroundings. Thanks

  • Salon 41 hair designs, 5401 Collins Ave Suite CU-2 Miami Beach,Fl33140 (305)866-5017 . They are expert doing the Brazilian Keratin Treatment by Global Keratin. I highly recommed ths place!

  • Go to Salon 41 at Miami Beach, Fl (305) 866-5017

  • it is importtant the brand and how the flat iron is made,i have a ceramic tourmalite fhi

it is excellent . can you burn the hair ? yes

but again you need to be a professional with experience on keratin treatments

the reason i do the keratin is because the result are amazing, you dont use a flat iron again untill you need the treatment done.

i will not risk my clients just for money : )

  • yes it is but you need to consider textur, thickness etc if you are a stylist you will know when thw keratin is infused, get shinny ... you need to use your eyes to diagnost it.

  • That's alot of heat.I hope the client will use a moitiruzing shampoo and conditioner. Most importantly Deep conditioned the hair

  • all those considering, consider this: the main ingredient is formaldehyde! yes, embalming fluid. your hair re releases the toxic fumes everytime hair is wet or hot. toxic levels are damaging, linked to cancer and affect everyone around you. OMG I dont get why people do it? oh and someone died getting it in brasil...that enough?

  • They use formaldehyde free! Salon 41 hair designs 5401 Collins Ave Ste CU2 Miami Beach, Fl 33140 (305) 866-5017

    Wonderful results ....NO risk

  • well you are not suppost to touch the scalp.

depent how waivy ,curly your hair is...

the keratin is a treatment,it is not necesary a relaxer.for some hair will look straigther ,for others is progressive.

for kinky hair it is necessary to open the curl little bit as shown on the video

but it is amazing the texture after doing it

blow dry is half time,it takes long from 3 hours or more depent of the hair

  • Does this product cause scalp irratation? I want to have it done in order to stop useing relaxers, but I have super sensitive skin and scalp and I am worried as I even react to hair dye.

  • most of the people i had done ,no one has a reaction ,only little eye irritation when doing it when a piece of hair is close to the eyes ,but i give googles to my client to avoid it

  • hair that is not has been chemical treated

  • hair that has never had relaxers or perms

  • what's virgin hair??
