On your one count I agree: snow patrol's version is better when heard as a studio recording; however, Leona Lewis is the one who keeps the delicate balance of intonation and pitch in place when singing live. This is an extremely fragile, beautiful song, but SP butchers it live.
rock singing thrives on the imperfctions of its singers and live performers in general. As a rule of thump the polished pop singers are technically superior but often lack 'soul'. Leona is a good singer but her version of Run is over the top in places and a little pretentious. Check out my effort on my profile.
Hm... I must admit, I prefer Leona's cover version. It's just a matter of preference really but at least in this live rendition I'm missing actual emotions (and the lyrics ARE highly emotional, partly even overdramatic, which clashes severely with the almost flat, resigned way he's presenting the song).

Thanks to leona, i found this amazing band. This song proves, that something doesn´t have to sound "perfect" to be perfect.. For me this, the Original version, is perfect because of it´s pure rawness. It is sang with full meaning and passion. I liked leonas version of this, but when i heard this, i found pure magic. when i first heard leona singing it, i couldn t tell that tis actually the same song..."run", that song that am really so fond of..well "run" is a rock song..and she made it more like a blues one, it s like she s whinning...personally, i thought it's so bad..

I like sp, bot i agree with beverly hills comment,4 me, the sign of a good live band is to produce the same sound that comes out of the studio[ eg, pink floyd, queen,]were excelent at this,I hope one day sp reach these heights,they,ll have fun trying, and i hope they make it.

Because of the money her version brings them? Until Leona did it, a lot of people had never heard of Snow Patrol or this number. Now they do. Royalties are nice, regardless of what fans think of other artists doing coverversions...

better then those playback bands... what he s showing it's real, not fake... and at least to me, performing shouldn't be about followng a certain code of perfectness (like vocal notes perfectness), but rather about art, about feeling us human....

cloverparty leona is the first class WORLD Artist that took this song to heights and sales that Snow Patrol NEVER did and also can actually SING in tune both in a studio AND LIVE !!!!! and before been taken off you tube was having hits far greater in months than SP have in years where you been ? On your one count I agree: snow patrol's version is better when heard as a studio recording; however, Leona Lewis is the one who keeps the delicate balance of intonation and pitch in place when singing live. This is an extremely fragile, beautiful song, but SP butchers it live.

I saw these guys in Wisconsin right after eyes wide open was released and they were fantastic. They sounded much better than this.

rock singing thrives on the imperfctions of its singers and live performers in general. As a rule of thump the polished pop singers are technically superior but often lack 'soul'. Leona is a good singer but her version of Run is over the top in places and a little pretentious. Check out my effort on my profile.

Hm... I must admit, I prefer Leona's cover version. It's just a matter of preference really but at least in this live rendition I'm missing actual emotions (and the lyrics ARE highly emotional, partly even overdramatic, which clashes severely with the almost flat, resigned way he's presenting the song).
Maybe there are better version by SP. I'll have a look...
Or maybe you can't speak of "better" and it's just a style I'm not into.

with this song ( And who should knew better than him )and he just was blewed away when he heard Leona's version - which is completly different from this and that because that girl had some skill's only few poeple have - no question about that.

Thanks to leona, i found this amazing band. This song proves, that something doesn´t have to sound "perfect" to be perfect.. For me this, the Original version, is perfect because of it´s pure rawness. It is sang with full meaning and passion. I liked leonas version of this, but when i heard this, i found pure magic. This is how this was supposed to be sang. Sorry about my english... hope you´ll understand, what i was trying to say..
