  • once you cook it if you only eat one serving can you close the bag to have the other serving another time?

  • @Jaredlovesguns I guess you could and reheat it in a pot later

  • @Jaredlovesguns You can buy them in Single serves aswell

  • good vid how much do these meals cost

  • i know they are mountain house but i get them from my MEC store so my friends and i just call them Mec Meals. not bad. we just add the watter seal the top and slosh it around in the bag for a good 8 min. you NEEED to break up the chunks though because the salt condenses and its never good. lasagna and meat sauce and seafood chouder(believe it or not) are especialy good.

  • My favorite by far of the Mountain House foods. It has a little too much spice for my 5 year old that hikes with us. The rest of the family LOVES IT!

Thanks Tinny, Have a Great Day!

  • I have had this meal and I do enjoy it! We remove the meal from its package and repack it in 2 vacu-seal bags. I to have had issues dehydrating beans for the trail foods. The only ones I had any luck with are refried beans and we make a taco salad out on the trail with dehydrated beef a small crumbled up bag of corn chips dehydrated green peppers, tomatoes, onions. Taco seasoning mix, and I have even dehydrated Ortega taco sauce. Its not bad but make sure you have seperate tents that night!

  • Thanks for the info and meal ideas. I have also dehydrated re fried beans with the same results. They are excellent tasting but socially unacceptable.--LOL--

  • LOL

  • Wait just one second...... Did you not use one of your stoves? all this minibull designs stuff and these cutting edge stoves and you used a snow peek? MSR?

  • It was a cut down to 8.oz JetBoil. I get to use any stove I like for reviews and this JetBoil is a really nice stove

  • Tinny, Have tried to find contact info. on your web site. How do I contact yout through it?

  • Thnx again Tinny!! Try the beef stew its AWESOME!! :)

  • MH makes really good stuff... The eggs are kinda sad though.

  • That is funny---I tried the eggs and bacon and was impressed. But I did not expect too much to begin with and you must follow the direction to the letter

  • a bit late on the review...

  • Those FD meals are never cooked in the time recommended if you are at high altitude. You have to use an insulated cozy and double the amount of time you let it sit.

  • That is interesting--how high are you talking, we don't have anything over 5200 in my area

  • 9500 to 14,000 ft. is the range I'm talking about.

  • Tinny - Try the Mt. House macaroni and cheese. That meal is really good!

  • Thanks for the review.

I like your modified jetboil. If you had to do it over again would you not cut the pot down as much and leave yourself some more capacity?

  • No --I like this setup. This was an odd thing that I don't do when packing. I never boil two cups of water at once. Al my meals take one cup.

  • beef stew is the best from MH. also the food is not dehydrated it is freeze dried.. very different processes. you can actually make your own meals and send them off and have them freeze dried.

  • Thumbs up on the beef stew Happycamper001. I've had that before...very good. Also, you wrote that you can send your own food to have it freeze dried, do you have a company that you like or have had experience with?

  • sorry, but beef stroganoff is the best mh meal

  • I've eaten this stuff a couple of times on longer backpacking trips, and it really does taste awesome.

err on the side of too much water though, and really mix the hell out of it.

  • Your right on with this review.

  • i love chili mac was drewling at the sight of it yummy

  • Thanks for the Review Tinny!

  • I'm so going to buy that food pack thank's tinny!
