I don't know why, but me and metal mouthpieces don't go well together, lol. I can tear up some music on a plastic mouthpiece, but on the metal ones, I have issues with low notes and always going sharp. I just can't get a good control on them for some odd reason.
@matrix86 well metal holds and transfers temperature very easily. so you play on a metal mouthpiece for a while it gets hot and goes sharp. i play on a Mayer 5J and i hated it when i first got it but now that ive had it for for a while im in love with it. being a sax player im always looking for something new and better but im very happy with the Metal one i have now. but everyones different
@PHSMustangSAXPlayer Yeah, I realize why they go sharp, but for some reason, I start out sharp and no matter what I do, I stay there, lol. I play on a size 5 reed (which even that is starting to get too soft for me) but with metal mouthpieces, I have to drop down to a 2 or 2 1/2 in order to get anything out. Sucks, because I love the sounds produced from metal mouthpieces...just never had much luck with them, lol.
@matrix86 oh wow. i play on a 4 right now. thats about right for me. im usually out of tune on my higher register as well. i need to get my sax chops back ive been on brass for a while. when i first started on it it was AWFUL to try to get a sound out but now im used to it. kinda. im actually having trouble finding something with less resistance. nothing i do is giving me that "free blowing" feel im looking for. any suggestions?
Nice sound - very Sanbornesqe, but I got away from that sound in the early '90s and am looking for something to replace my Meyer 6M now. I use Ponzol on tenor and soprano, but they're a bit bright for my alto. Great playing! VERY impressive altissimo work. Thanks for putting up this video
Wow you sound great man. Why don't you post more video's of you playing, I'd like to hear more.
And i know this is posted almost a year ago but for the people who dont get it why the sax looks reversed, it's because the video is mirrored! A camera feature.
no dude. the left arm is used to play the top keys while the right hand is for the bottom keys...he is playing it backwards, with his left hand on the bottom and the right one on the top, which means the sax is made differently (or reversed). the camera obviously has nothing to do with it.
Oh please, you can't even recognize a tenor from an alto. You're gonna call me a dumb ass? There's a reason he has two videos, one titled Ponzol Stainless Steel TENOR sax mouthpiece test, and one ponzol stainless steel Alto. He obviously knows the difference. Listen some to some more music and then you might be able to hear the timbre difference between alto and tenor.
I didn't dispute whether it sounded nice or not. I just called you a dumb ass, which is still true, and by the way, you need to work on punctuation. Don't worry. It's okay. I know you're a dumb ass.
Did I say that you said it sounded bad? I don't recall nor can I find anything about it in my posts. You haven't presented me with a valid argument as to why I'm a dumb ass in the first place.... you argue like a child, sending cheap little shots that amount to nothing. Saying someone has poor grammar doesn't make him/her a dumb ass, it just means that they have poor grammar. Give me a good reason i'm a dumb ass and I'll except your opinion.
i hate that shitty kenny g style you started of with its total wank...
