  • Great lick ! thank you .

  • Thank you ! Awesome lesson.

  • I´m on a drug... I cant get enough of this drug, I need to do it all the time. My life is dedicated to it... The drugs name is guitar licks... I just cant get enough of that... And pot!

  • best guaitar ever made i have a squire and you can not beat the sound....

  • how can I play rhythm to this scale?

  • also..this vid is not on the paying site for paying customers. wat gives. correct me if im mistaken but i dont see it anywhere

  • @4:26 The jig is up!!!

  • To expand on Marty's great lesson here, check out "Since I've Been Loving You" by Led Zeppelin for a great example of how much can be done in these positions Marty is showing. Jimmy Page basically rapes this scale and it smokes a cigarette when he's done!

  • one person that couldn't get it right disliked this

  • ok thx man . .

  • At last someone who plays the pentatonic the same way I do and good lesson too. Bonus.

  • Hey Marty, How often do you re-string your guitars??

  • This mite as well be the eric clapton style lesson. This is how Clapton would aproach a solo for sure. cool

  • Hey Marty, what chord did you play at 5:43? Diggin your lessons man. Thanks

  • I hate that you are so good. But I love how show you show us how to do it. You're the man.

  • marty...

    you rock..

with you , i suck much less!!!

  • Nice lesson again Marty! It's good how your lessons give some review of earlier material and add some tasty new stuff as well! Thanks pal, Joey Vaughan "World Blues Attack"

  • It's a setup!

  • Love learning sweet and sour licks from ya Marty! Went to Buddy Guys last night in Chi-town and all I thought about the theory I learned from ya. Johnny Rawls probably thought I was a freak staring at him...ha

  • Marty you are a guitar god thanks for your help

  • @jay

And also can i play the scales for any ot the chords that form the progression and it would stil sound good?

  • @smelvis2 yes if you play that scale at the same time as that chord absolutly but this is very hard to do makeing sure first timing is right and also not geting lost .

  • @jay

So.... The first chord dictates they key.

And i can play the scale i want as long as it starts on that root? If the key is A i can play a minor pent, major pent, blues..... In sny part of the neck as long as i start with the A root?

Thanks for the help! Really appreciate it!!!

  • @smelvis2 well it would have to remain either major or minor cause there is a differant note in there . But any extention of that scale would work.

  • ITS A SETUP im outa HERE.......love it marty!!

  • Your a good teacher..thank you

  • Your a good teacher..thank you

  • good teaching Marty ...keep them lick`s coming ... :)

  • sweet lesson! what kind of amp is that, it's sounds awesome.

  • Is Minor Pentatonic Extenxion = Major Pentatonic Scale ?

  • @NanoGuitarist almost, your pinkey would be on the root(c in this case)insted of your first finger, then play the same pattern as the minor pent..Only thing to keep in mind is that the root note changes its position. This works for all keys, marty has a great lesson on it try search major pent. marty schwarts

  • @eric

    So.... Let me get this.....

If i play the a c d chord prog i can plug in any scale as long as the root is on a (or c or d?) and itll sound good?

And is it the first three notes of the scale that usually dictate the chords to play?

Depending on the root of course....

  • ******warning!!! Retarded question********

Usually when i play guitar... I just try n feel the music.... So am not too smart on the theory part....

How do ya know which chords to play with each scale or viceversa?

I did warn u it was a reraeded question....

  • @smelvis2 watch his video, or any video on the relative major/ relative minor theory. but usually any notes in the scale will work. take Am pentationic for example. the first three notes are A C D, therefore as long as your root is the A chord you could play the Am scale, Cmajor scale, or Fminor. it sounds confusing but its really not bad

  • @ericwalczyk true... and its not the first 3 it would be 1-3-5 notes that compose the chord. After a lil while starts to make sense

  • @smelvis2 well it would be what scale to play with what chord progression ,close enough though. Usealy the first chord of a chord progression is the key its in.So if its c minor, a good start would be c minor pent. scale. Minor and major pent are the fondation of building your fretboard knowledge.marty is da man to teach you.Do a search on major and minor pent. marty schwarts

  • I love all your videos thanks

  • Thats a kick ass lick marty

  • Marty question.. We hear a lot about box 1 of the minor pentatonic, and of coarse the extension to box 2.. but what about box 3,4 and 5? i think you should do a lesson or two on those boxes that we never hear about. Because our favorite guitarist never just stay in basically one possibly during their solos. They explore the entire neck. Just a suggestion!

  • allready knew this. I just love to watch that tele and marty hahaha

  • i totally agree with you

i don`t know what i`d have done without him and his lessons

thanks again, marty - for the e-book aswell ^^

  • Marty is the best teacher on Youtube. no contest.

  • Yet another fantastic upload Marty. We owe you a lot!

  • Absolutely love C minor! thanks again Marty

  • you have a cut on your left pinky finger... but you still rocking |,,|,

  • @ hughman174... If you're looking for a great vintage strat tone I would highly recommend DR Pure Blues strings. They are excellent if you're playing blues music. Derek Trucks uses them. It's good to experiment with different strings based on your playing style.

  • 5:55 Take two

  • Marty, what's a good string for a Fender strat?

  • @hughman174 I know I'm not Marty, but.... what I use and allot of my blues guitar friends use D'Addario EXL115 (11-49). absolutely awesome strings. down side they don't last that long. I try and change them every 2 weeks

  • Great Video Marty ( as usual )! Are you in standard tuning?

  • @kameron95 yes he is

  • good, good lesslon, are these pick ups noisless?

  • Marty what strings do you use on that Tele, I use the D'Addario lights with top heavy and I still can't seem to get that true tele sound. THANKS MARTY
