I really would like to know how this works, putting an active pickup in a fleabass, which is passive. Would i have to make room for a battery or get active electronics?

i honestly think you are turning the tone off on the original pickups and turning the tone all the way up on the EMG's... it just doesnt seem right.

@TNTIV I agree, Ive played the stock pickup with the tone right up top and it sounds kinda similar to the EMG one. I dont think this is a fair test. he shouldve shown the stock with tone up and down, and the EMG turned all the way up and down.

I think the EMG pickup is kind of just an enhancer of the stock pickup. I would kinda have to opt for the stock pickups on this one, they have a more traditional bass sound. If I bought another fleabass though i might be interested in swapping for an EMG pickups but tradtion comes before experimentation with me.

you get the active electronics with the new EMG. the guitarcenter i went to told me that it would't be a problem to change the electronics. it was a birthday present (changing the pickup) so i can't give you any further details on costs :)

@Punkrockzone I happen to have both a sterling stingray and a fleabass; both are great but I prefer the fleabass. It has a punchier tone and a comfier neck. However, I've never tried a fender 70 jazz bass.

I wanted to play the bass and my teacher adviced me to go for normal guitar. Afther a year i quit.

I wanted a motorbike but everyone told me to get a car it's more practical. Afther 4 days someone drove into my door and i broke a piece of spine in my neck and with a lot of luck i can still walk and do stuff.

@LesWooten It's part of the bass solo to Aeroplane by The RHCP. Starting at 0:06 he just plays really fast on the E String on the G note (third fret) with his ring finger then drops a step down to F (first fret) with his index, then does the exact same thing on the A string after a slide down the neck. Not sure if hat was the part you were talking about. I'm a better player that I am a teacher, and I've certainly never done it over text... sorry. I hope you do figure it out though. Good Luck

I prefer original pickup. But somehow EMG is lovely too. Original pickup may be lost in a band due to less-definitive tone but have better tone alone. EMG can be noticed through recordings though.
