  • I would like to know more about this 10 inch apple of which you speak..

  • Yo thanks alot cuzo for all the shit ur teaching us . im a broke ass mofucker striving to be a producer and if it wasnt for u my skills wouldnt be improving so drastically and thru me and ur many other pupils u are slowly but surely changing the world and ur effort is greatly appreciated . thanks again HOMIE keep up the good WORK !

  • I got to Carnegie hall in 2 months actually....

    then I woke up....

  • these videos are great, i really appreciate your time and explanation techniques! Thanks man!

  • you're fabulous! XD

  • do you have any tips on how to play by ear?

  • @81jmmitchell yah he does

  • I'm worried that I'm too old to have enough time to get where I want to be on piano before I die of old age, sadly.

  • @soho2014 practice and study everyday and you can do it within 6 months

  • Thank you so much for this!

    I love your hair.

  • "...I'M GONNA DRIVE.... randomly." LOL

  • All these videos are insanely helpful, can't belive this is free.. Who is this guy? A gift from God??

  • 100000 out of 6000000 people completed the course

  • Hey I haven't watched all your videos yet but I definitely plan on it... I've been playing piano here and there for about 8 months now. I'm starting to learn many more scales and stuff... What I'm trying to figure out is how I decide on which chords work with the scale I'm in...

If I'm in a G# MINOR scale, I don't know which chords to play, I can't find anything online either for some strange reason. Do chords NOT depend on your scale? Am I able to play just any MINOR chord and it will work?

  • You are so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I LOVE your videos and learn a great deal from them. Honestly though, there are times when you don't have to ramble so much. Your stories or examples are very easy to understand with not so many words or subexamples. You're a great teacher though and I will continue to learn...just shorten your stories and examples and get to the point quicker. :-)

  • The results-effort relation reminds me to racing competitions.

It is easy to brake your own time the first time you race a track. But as you progress, the better time you get the more difficult to beat it.

You can compare your first and second laps and there could be a difference of 5 seconds, but later on your two best times are not even half a second away from each other. The thing is, that last improvement is more rewarding than the first one, even when it could seem ten times less progress.

  • Thanks so much for this video! I see I have a long way to get my journey of where I wanto be but i love piano so much. I wont give up!

  • I would love you forever if you did a tutorial on Nyan Cat!!!

  • Run audio track through compressor, please. Hard to hear you even on maximum volume.

  • I wish I was retardedly, retardedly good. ;______;

  • sound is not good! too low I can't hear all the words he said

  • @Diana5189 And more than half left midway. #14 or #15 contains only 32k. But man. This has been one heck of a course. Thank you so much, Andrew!

  • lol 5 million viewed lesson one.. and only 92000 made it out alive

  • Thanks so much for your videos they help alot. I was just wondering what kind of etudes you would recommend to practice. My pianist friends tells me that Hanon is a must, but are there any other etudes you recommend?

    Thank you so much ^^

  • Ok I don't get it, you're saying I should try to discover things before asking, but at one of the first videos you say I should hear first how it's done, because it would be faster than trying to discover things by myself.

    So how is it?

  • Can I actually learn to play piano online?

  • @Gandirby learning good ways to practice and learning how to sight read two staves, I'll send u some links with really good material that will supplement lypur and help u learn and get comfortable on piano faster if u stick with it

  • @DarkStar1O9 Send me this stuff too!xD Thank you!

  • @freund111394 ok I'll get back to you soon, man its been awhile....and thanks lypur!

  • Simply Fantastic (and Funtastic too!) - many thanks for your hard work & contribution!

  • i'm in love with his hair, lol

  • If i can play Moonlight sonata and none of the others in ARCT is the other grades does that make me grade "Arct" lol

  • Thank you for this video. It's helpful for life in general as well as music/piano. You are doing a great service. And, it definitely shows that you LOVE, LOVE, LOVE what you are doing. Thanks for passing that gem along.

  • can you show us how to play brahms a little waltz

  • <3 <3 <3 :*

  • are you yewish?

  • great videos, well done.

  • Andrew...I can't begin to tell you what you have done for me and probably for thousands of others. I started with a Yamaha E423 and no knowledge of anything at all. I've always been a drummer and that mentality doesn't mesh well with the piano (at least not for me). Your lessons have evolved me so much that I have surpassed my father who has been playing on and off for years, With a real teacher! You have been my music Godsend. Thank you so much for your time and effort. It has changed my life.

  • On my goals i put in a year i want to know advanced jazz blues and classical songs.

By the end of the month how to read music and a couple simple songs.

Also i plan on practicing for a minimum of an hour a day.

  • This is some very encouraging and motivating information. This is just the type of advice I needed to hear for actually learning how to learn music and other things in general. I could see these methods applied to most instruments and areas of music. I play harmonica and started playing bass guitar fairly recently, and I can see how some bad habits can form if you don't actively learn and piece things together, as you said. This really inspires some great new thoughts and ideas!

  • How would you divide your grades to know whether somebody is at beginner, intermediate or advanced level?

  • Thanks sooooo much this video helps me soo much! Im not really a beginer im advanced but I dont know how to read notes because I play by ear and just kind of taught myself so watching this is really helping me gain some of my music reading skills. Thanksss! =)

  • anybody sampled MAC's new product line?! they're excellent , i keep on purchase more and more :) you can receive 100 percent free samples of makeup through 'Gratis Makeup Samples'. i recently got the samples on 03/12/2010.

  • Just looking at the pieces on that list from grades 2 to 4 bring back so many memories

  • Hi Andrew

Your video is very useful for me to learn piano. The jokes you made is totally awesome and you make learning environment in a fun way. I really love it. I'm going to download all the series now. lols!

Really really really, i love your tutorials. I love the way you talk about philosophy of life and it is true in life. hahas.! Once again, thank you very much!

    God bless you, Andrew!

  • I found you! Thank you...Sensei

  • Spoiler: At 28:06 etc your demo of 5-finger pattern and the simple C Major scale is not good...notes were skipped. Did you notice? You played the wrong chord in LH when you demonstrated broken chords. Slow down and play accurately.- this should be emphasized.

  • Andrew,

Thanks for the great info. I've looked at some of your other videos and your website and you do a fantastic job of sharing info with people to help.

We're into teaching piano on-line too. We use digital interactive books.

    Thanks.

  • After reading your reply to someone.. I would happily fork over $40 an hour since your method of teaching is so easy to absorb. :D Too bad I don't live anywhere near you. :[ But these videos will suffice!

  • just wanted to thank you again. all the best to you.

  • Wow, super great class. Thank you so much. It's just the second one I've watched. There's enough videos here to span the year of my goal, which is to learn how to play Claire de Lune. Total newbie here. Learning that one song would make me happy.

  • ... Your hair defies gravity. Newton will be pissed.

  • I'm just trying to improve my skills playing small pieces and melodies, I make electronic/hip-hop music and I really feel if I improve my skills on the piano, my skills with everything else will increase (I use logic virtual instruments as well as some on pro tools).. any advice appreciated.

  • wow, thank you so much, I am going to eat all your videos, I am 37 and entirely self-taught on guitar and keyboard but I love music, even studied Schoenberg's harmony book on my own (only 3 fourths of it, but it has been a great education for me). I have played for 19 years and struggled but I never stopped and I feel even more willing now, I don't care if it will take another 15 years. Thanks again for the great advice, I took notes down and will watch all your videos. All the best, Luigi

  • wow i made it through every single vid. Your amazing man and a huge inspiration. Everything i've learned so far has been from your vids and i'd say for a beginner i'm not to bad. I plan to make a practice schedule and grind at it every day till i'm where I want to be. Anyway thanx and i'll let you know later how much i've progressed whether you respond or not ;D.

  • Hi I'm 16 years old and after I watched this video, thanks to you I know how to play "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" on my Yamaha PSS-680. I can't wait to show my family! But I think I might practice a little more.

  • I'm anxious to see the 10-inch apple from lesson 40!

But seriously, I think much of what is in lesson 40 should be in lesson one. Lesson 40 gave me a lot of help practicing...which I have been doing since starting to view the lessons. Mike

  • you are a great person friend ^^ funny as hell keep yourself like that. Thanks for the trouble you go through

  • I just recently discovered your videos and I think what you are doing is great! I use to play when I was younger but I quit. I always wanted to go back to it and now I can. I just bought my keyboard and took my first lesson with you. IT was soooo much fun!

  • hey andrew. love your vids. i viewed them after i knew a few songs and such. never had lessons though. so your videos helped so much. i was curious if you could watch one of my videos (maybe like eternity or those who fight) and help with any thing you notice i should work on. :D thank you!!

  • Hey andrew, I was just wondering, can you play the rach3 Ossia cadenza, or prelude in G minor by rach?

  • The entertainer is the best song ever!!!!

  • HI Andrew, your video is set out quite good!

My problem is having time to practice. I tend to just practice what i need to to do my grades, in 14 months i have passed grades 1,2 & 3 all with distinction but have only ever scored "a pass" on my reading.

I struggle to read and find it pain stakingly hard to practice reading but i don't know why.

My main aim is to be able to read to at least grade 5 standard.

    can you help plz?

  • r u gonna make any more vids??? U ROCK!!! u taught me everything about piano!!!!!im showing my friends famliy and other ppl i know that want to play piano!!! UR THE BEST!!! and in the first one ur hair was longer!! =]

  • Yes, of course!

I started 9 month ago only with Lypur's online lessons and watched about the half. All basic lessons and then on-demand single lessons which were about some diffcult things like using a metronome or pedalling or something ... • I checked the first song: _W3V9vViJFk (Dinu Lipatti, piano George Enescu; Bourrée from Suite No. 2 in D for piano. Op. 10) - sounds a bit advanced for grade 1 but I like it a lot.

  • Who cares?? I don't have time to spell every word correct, check, recheck etc. U get da point rite... I mean YOU GET THE POINT, RIGHT??? talk about my punctuations later haha...

Great series Andrew, keep up the good work, greatly appreciated.

  • U r the best Andrew thank you...

  • The ultimate fail statement really hit home for me. I have been avoiding piano my whole life (as well as other things in my life) for fear of failing. But truthfully, I'm failing by not trying. This is the end of that. I'm a singer (check my videos) and know nothing about music, until now. Thanks Andrew!

  • Thanks for this. Very helpful advice - and not only for the piano.

  • thank so much

this was the vidio 'i've been expecting for

  • Bloke,I'm from the u.k. and from a very heavily deprived post industrial town. I'm one cynical mother ****** BUT I find your videos totally wicked (in a good sense)

They cheered me up no end today. Don't stop spreading good vibes man, they can reach across a whole planet.

  • Cool videos, guy. Its cool to find great videos like this on youtube.

  • thank you... :) i appreciate this very much.

  • I defenetly enjoy every second I spend playing piano!

  • Like I said in the other one YOU ARE AWESOME!

  • So true...

  • thank you soooooooooooo much!! i have always wanted to play the piano but never really had time for formal lessons, and this is so much better!!! thank you again!! :)

  • Hi, Your video is perfect, I enjoy watching and trying to learn piano. I was learning piano abt 20 years ago for a short period but now i want to play again. Doesn't matter I am 33 :). I heaven't watched all yet, but I have one question or maybe sugestion rather. The course will be complete if You could suggest the list of music excersizes to play by "newborn" pianomen :) Ordered by the level of difficulty. How do You think? And my respect for good piece of work.

  • your videos are amazing, butttttttt

is there absolutely anyway to raise the volume? :(

  • GOD BLESS YOU!!! AnDrEw

  • Great Video! Wonderfull

  • Thanks for all your video Andrew, they've helped me vastly in improving piano skills; you're videos are so indepth and empowering. Thanks for adding humour in your vdieos, they liven the video and it makes the whole process a lot more fun :) You are really something to go all the way into making these video and helping many people such as myself to play the piano. A person like you is rare in this world and I wish you the best of luck in your endeavours. Thank you.

  • aww thank you so much!! :) getting able to read comments like this makes it all worth it, so thank you very much!

  • @Lypur I cant believe someone has actually done this. You are an incredible person. Are you a professional session/studio musician?

  • How much does one lesson from you cost?

  • in real life? my rate is $40/hour ^_^

  • :D That's a little less than the rate of my last piano teacher! Now I want to go to Canada. :(

  • wow most people here charge $30/30min ..!!! thats why im gonna try your lessons

  • @Lypur it's really reasonable, you are great.

  • Hey I've been watching some of your videos lately, and although I already know a lot of this stuff, it helps to refresh your memory and go back to the basics once in a while.

Also, I was watching a video of someone playing turkish march on piano and he links to your website.

Is that you playing it on a different youtube account? if so, you did a great job!

  • Dude, ur metaphors rock

  • hahahaha I was noticing the same!

  • thnx a bunch!!! ; ).. ur kina funny tho anywayz thnx *hugz lol*

  • Thanks a lot :D.

  • Hey Andrew, are you polish?

Cause your name sounds like you were :)

    Pozdrawiam

  • Andrew it is fantastic that you offer this! Thank you so much!

  • Thanx alot for everything ;)

  • you should start doing lessons over skype! I take My mandolin and voice lessons over skype they work great!

  • itz imprtant to have that fire within you. in hindi we call it junoon to reach your goals. i would say thre are 3 main fctors. hard work, smart work n the most imprtant ptience and nver say die. itz ben like 4 mnths i got srious like this mrch when i really got srious about music production.. bfore that it was jst a hobby. but i m sharing this with you andrew coz i hve learned alot frm u. i lovd the theory on music . oh m runin out of chrs. m learnin coz i wnt to be abl to cmpose my remxs btter

  • Thank You very much for best lesson, Dear Sir.

  • hahaha, would Liszt Paganini Etudes such as La Campanella be grouped in the "Beyond ARCT" grade? lol That piece is crazy difficult!

  • No way guys! (Oh ya, that thumbs up I gave was a mis click)

The unrelated stuff is what makes them fun. Without that he would seem like most the people with lessons, all boring and dull. His humor keeps me laughing and makes piano fun, instead of it being a chore. If you just want to learn the material I'm sure there are tons of other places, but Andrew is the only one who seems to really care.

Basically, the unrelated stuff adds a ton more than it takes away, in my opinion :)

  • I agree 100%! :)

  • You should learn to be patient. It would pay off. :)

  • hmm... u seem to know how to play.. wana ask u .. about practicing the basics e.g. c,e,f,g,a,g,f,e,d.... <-- isit important ?

  • No way.. I'm currently learning the first movement of Sonata in C Sharp minor Op 27 no 2

    and I'm grade 1. :/

  • lol the sun is blending haha lol

  • ..the wheelchair -oh I guess that's special olympics.. :DD great stuff :)

  • i hate to be an ass but i had to put my speakers to max volume to hear u speak XD plz fix

  • Oh well?

  • you are very handsome...just thougt you'd like to know that..:)

  • can-t believe you actually talked *without editing the video* for nearly 40 minutes!!! O.O!

Thank you for trying something new though! and believing in what you do\1 \8it-s the most important thing about an artist :)

  • ^_^ I know, it's strange sometimes I can just roll with it and not make too many mistakes....I just feel like "oh well, if i make a mistake no big deal, just laugh it off and keep going, it's part of life" I think it makes it more "real" anyway. ^_^ I hope you found this lesson helpful.

  • ty so much for taking your time to share this with us

  • @Brittaniaya You're very welcome!!

  • There are several cuts x:

  • I like drive randomly :D

  • u showed me the way i have an evil step sister she has 3 keyboards she dosent let me play cuz i dont know notes but i know now how can i learn without being able 2 touch a piano!!!you siad it you'll never learn if u never try !!!
