  • Increíble!!!!

  • Wonderful performance!!!

  • great pianist, excellent

  • I love the Overture to don Giovanni put in the Cadenza at 5:32..Unreal,Mozart piano concerto's are so like his Opera's..Schiff is right when he says the architecture of the Olimpia theatre in Vicenza,Italy reflects the 'architecture' in Mozart's music

  • bravo!!!!!!!!

  • The birds-eye-view camera angle of the pianist should be in every video!

  • WOnderfull and that Berlin orchesta as well .. BRAVO for both !

  • At 5:41 sounds like Don Giovanni, Right ?

  • I would have preferred a more even tempo, with more room to let the phrasing "breath." Also, more beauty of tone, variety of sound and more variety in relation to the various modulations.

  • 2 people are idiots.

  • please post the other two movements!!!!!!!!

  • Schiff is the best pianist....

  • Just imagine Schiff playing Mozart in a Vicenza theater designed by Palladio--such a spectacular confluence of performer, composer, and architecture. Nothing like this in the "exceptionalist" country called America now, is there?

  • Magnificent--I love the DON GIOVANNI in the cadenza! Schiff is the greatest pianist alive today. I am so blessed to have heard him the many times I have. From the Furtwaengler Piano Concerto to Brahms Concertos, Beethoven Sonatas, Bach, and Haydn. Amazing!

  • does 2:46 sound exactly like the beginning of tempest sonata by beethoven to anyone (which coincidentally is also in d minor)?

  • @monkeydude512 YES it is exactly the same! I found it weird, I don't think the original edition of the concerto has it. I prefer it without this "tempest" reminescence.

  • I try and listen to this, you still playing K.466 Schiff' is great! Because he played the comosor as he is one of the few pianists can be apun out hidden melodies. He has been playing a trick on this episode of minor works composed by Mozart plated so shocking representation of a dimimished seventh chord after chord, especially primary disribution. Moreover, he composed cadenzas of Mozart's "Requiem" is aware that cadence.

  • @pianofortegermany rather write in German, can't understand what you mean

  • @ulyssesjj I have played this work. While I was resding the score of this work was to learn to listen Mr. Schiff's piano and conducting. I was writin the score, while anxious I read his performance score. I am a piano specialist, a prefessional word I said.

  • @pianofortegermany He who cannot speak Arabic, should not speak Arabic.

  • this was the second half of the concert, and Schiff with his Cappella Andrea Barca performed Don Giovanni's ouverture (this is the meaning of this cadenza), K 466 and, as encore, JS Bach's Chromatische Fantasie und Fuge.

the theatre was Andrea Palladio's Teatro Olimpico.

  • schiff is a genius but mozart was a god

  • The Steinway he's playing on is the best-sounding piano I've ever heard. Wow!

  • wow!!! DON GIOVANNI!!

  • @atsaka the candeza true

  • I think that this cadenza Is perfect for this theatre. It seems the comendatore palace, even you can search for the comendatore statue!!!

  • I love this!!

  • he should pull in his lower lip when he shakes his ugly head...

  • @ilnvita you should listen with your ears and not your eyes

  • Anyone familiar with Mozart's letters knows that he had a wicked sense of humor. There's no doubt that this was also ecompassed in his music.

The "suggestions" of Don Giovanni in the Cadenza would have made Mozart smile and even laugh out loud. Mozart was not "above" common practical jokes, as long as fine musicianship was a part of it. There's no doubt of that here.

    sanjosemike

  • The cadenza certainly started as pure Don Giovanni (The Commendatore scene), and then Schiff very cleverly interweaves the main Rondo theme into it, before dropping the Giovanni completely. Very appropriate, as both compositions are dark minor key pieces. A wonderful performance all round.

  • Oh just look at that moment from 2:44 to 2:54 and you will see the Beethoven Sonata 17, 1 movement beginning ;)

  • Sin duda Andras Schiff es de los pianistas y músicos en general que mejor entienden a Mozart. BRAVO.

  • Beethoven's Cadenza is better

  • That is the most heavenly ending of a concerto ever!

  • yes add the first 2 movements!!!!!!! this is grand!

  • i would have loved to seen his encore..

  • im nearly sure this cadenza is from don giovani...its perfect!

  • where is this hall? it is incredible

  • the taetro olympico at vicenza (italy)

  • I love this interpretation! Could you pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease add the first two movements? I thank you sooooooooooooooooo much!!!! :-) :-)

  • @jlsolinski Tooooooooooootally agree!!!

  • @jlsolinski NO.

  • great !

  • Is that Mrs Schiff playing 2nd KM?

  • THANK YOU !!!

  • need the other 2 mtvs of this perfect performance.... :D

  • Incredible !!! Unbeatable !!!!

  • @sosamuera watch?v=7ZGVtgDQjdM

  • would make sense with the D minor connection, maybe there are others...

  • sorry yeah i meant the start of the so-called 'tempest' sonata

  • is that a deliberate quote from beethoven's op.31/1 at 2.44?

  • op.31/2

  • @chrish12345 Guess who wrote the cadenza?

  • yeah I know, I commented on the cadenza already - I found it rather rude to be honest.

  • they all out in the road?
