The German sounding Lady thinks that if a deranged burglar or killer breaks into my home, that I should yell at him and explain to him why he shouldn't kill me. Yeeeeah. I'll stick with keeping my AK-47 next to my bed. BTW, I live in NY and my house has been robbed before, twice.
WOW. The guy who said muslims should have their backrounds searched should have lived in NAZI Germany. Also, the Fort Hood shooter has served his country(the U.S.) to Major status, and what has this prick done?
WOW. The guy who said muslims should have their backrounds searched should have lived in NAZI Germany. Also, the Fort Hood shooter has serveed his country(the U.S.) to Major status, and what has this prick done?
Chief Justice Warren E. Burger said in an interview that the people of the states believing that the second amendment gives them the right to bear arms was the biggest fraud ever perpetrated on the public.
If you want guns banned the only ones that can do it is the state governments.
I own three and have never shot my dog, my kids, my wife or my neighbors. Better to have one and not need it then the other way around.
And the best reason for having them is to overthrow oppressive government!
This shouldn't even be a topic. It's a constitutional right in our country. If they can take it away then they can take away any right. If we make guns illegal, aside from my first point, the murder rate will go through the roof. Anybody planning to kill somebody isn't going to worry about the gun law. That's when a robber comes into your house, rapes your family, kills them, and robs you and there is nothing you can do. I don't understand how people can even argue for gun control, it's insane!
Congrats on treating symptoms....and not the problem. You're violent crime rate has soared. And you only count Homicides when a conviction is made. Your gun murders are higher than you admit. I prefer taking care on myself, instead of relying on the government. Thanks...but I'll keep my freedoms. And my right to defend myself.
42 gun deaths in 2008 in the UK, 42. Conviction or not those are the only deaths from guns in one year. 28,000 gun deaths in the USA in 2008. See the difference?
England is the size of Texas. We have 300 millions people, with over 200 million firearms in this country.
See the difference?
You ban guns now...you disarm the innocent and many will die without the ability to defend themselves.
And of those 28,000 gun deaths...wanna wager on how many were killed by felons that are not allowed to have firearms? Only in a fantasy world can someone think banning will end gun crime here. You can wait for help...I'll bring my own.
Trading freedom for security is not how I wish to live. My security is based on my freedoms. I can depend on me. You can depend on government if you wish. In America, you don't have a right to be protected by the Police. They show up...when they show up. Usually, to put you in a body bag. No thanks. The 2nd Amendment doesn't protect a "right to kill"...it protects a "right to defend". If you don't want to protect your family....that's on you. Criminals will ALWAYS have guns. Just like drugs.
The US has not banned guns so stats within a country does not count. The UK and Japan have low gun deaths and have both banned guns. The stats do not lie.
Here is the rule! You kill one of mine I kill one of yours! Fuck the Law!! You kill! You die! FUCK the COURT!! and FUCK THE JUDGES!! YOU Kill YOU DIE!!
Its not a choice, its a right guaranteed by the Constitution that you use to make your crap videos. More than 50% of the people who said that nobody should own a gun, were forigners. If you take away guns, gun-runners will get more US money and guns wont be gone at all.
States where the right to carry laws are implemented have markedly lower murder/assault/rape rates. In fact, there's typically a negative relationship between gun restrictions and safety. Less than 1 percent of people who legally own a weapon ever commit a violent crime. The notion that gun ownership is an unnecessary right is ridiculous, whenever restrictions are enacted they really only prevent law abiding citizens from purchasing weapons, not violent criminals.
If someone killed or hurt your child Res, the only thing your dumb ass is going to do is call 911?! That is the most lame bull shit I have ever heard! If the most you are going to do is call 911, you must be a total retard and be to much of a pussy to fight back to defend your kids!!
I feel that the right to own a gun is a two-sided sword. It's not hard to understand both sides' arguments but it's difficult to see which side has more benefits.
Freedom to own a gun is like freedom to do anything here. I don't stand in your way, but I'd rather own a baseball bat. My kid (should I someday have one) can't blow his/her head off with a bat. Also, short of using a baseball, a bat dosen't kill in gang warfare (in context of driveby shootings).
People we are talking about a constitutional right.....RIGHT not a choice to defend yourself against the government as well as any other threat. While there are a generous amount of people out there that shouldn't own a gun, your opinion about that doesn't matter unless you are asking to repeal a constitutional ammendment. A gun is a tool, guns don't kill, People kill. So focus on the real issue. Get a gun and defend yourself from the PEOPLE who are wishing to do you harm. But do it wisley!
Hey resident, why are you asking foreigners if they think United Statsians should be allowed to defend themselves in a life or death situation with a gun? The kraut at the beginning is an idiot. I should know, I lived in Krautland for over two years and they are all still messed up from WW II.
Also, the second amendment was written so that We The People can defend ourselves from a tyrannical government that, oh, I don't know, wants to take our rights away and control us from cradle to grave.
Here in America we still have the constitution and it gives me a right to own a gun. In NY you have gun control and a high crime rate. Only crimanals have guns and they know no one else does. Lori come to Phoenix and I will show you how to use and own a gun. Guns owners I know are highly trained. I carry concealed every day. Another good video, but your liberal roots were showing, better get a touch up, LOL
(To the first lady) Yes, because when someone attacks you with a gun that they stole of got off the blackmarket, you can "argue" your way out of it. Idiot.
i have read a few of the comments posted and most of the responses are driven by fear of some description the what ifs and buts is what kills your family members who accidentally get shot.
The U.K. has the highest violent crime rate out of any developed country in the world. Also, pro-tip, not all murders are done with guns. We only have about 15,000 murders with firearms annually. That's out of over 300 million people.
If firearms aren't available people will manufacture them in their homes. People can make much more powerful weapopns than firearms. If firearms aren't avilable who knows what they will be driven to. Nuclear weapons aren't much of a stretch. Don't forget mass poisoning. Let the psychos have guns and stay out of there way. Firearms have limitations exploit them to stay safe.
England and Japan actually have a good culture that helps with public unrest. In the States things are crazy. It's not the amount of guns, it is the culture.
That's not entirely true. There have been more gun deaths per year since private gun ownership in the UK was banned. And far too many of those deaths have been caused by the police.
Do I need to remind you about Jean Charles de Menezes? He was executed by police at Stockwell tube station in London. He was shot in the head 7 times at close range by Metropolitan Police officers who misidentified him as a suicide bomber about to explode a device on the London Underground.
It is murder. You are preaching to the converted. Un-authorized firearm use is a symptom of a greater problem. Indentifing firearms as the problem is like blaming the wind for toppling a house when the foundation is crumbling. People are generally dumb. Why? There is an agenda to make people dumb. Go after that problem instead.
Okay, we're in broad agreement here, but the quantity of guns in the USA IS an issue for the simple reason that regulation isn't logistically possible due to the extremely high level of proliferation. Yes, the non regulatory culture is to blame, as is the lack of training requirement.
Also, the excuses given for keeping large quantities, and the the real reasons. They are not always the same.
And can we really blame the state for mass stupidity? Whatever happened to personal responsibility?
That's not why they want to ban them. It's because too many gun owners are stupid. And by stupid, I mean they refuse to acknowledge the responsibility that comes with owning a lethal weapon, & because guns have become 'essential accessories' for street gang members.
And I speak as someone who HAS used a gun in my own defense, and would be prepared to use lethal force if necessary again. But gun safety has to be paramount. They are not toys - or status symbols. Y'all listenin' Hollywood?
When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns. I believe in and practice the Second Amendment every day. Let the people who don't believe in guns and try to ban them get broken into, molested, car jacked etc etc etc and see how they feel then!!!!!!!
Look at the UK. They completely banned firearms and they're experiencing major increases in violent crime and GUN CRIME. Wait a minute... I thought they banned guns? Guess what, banning guns doesn't reduce gun crime, it just leaves good people defenseless against criminals who don't care about the law anyway.
"You can't stop insane people from doing insane things with insane laws. It's insane!" -- Penn Jillette
I agree, it's culture related. However, our legal system in america is corrupt and slanted by lawyers and idiot politicians. Most people I know own a gun because they are idiots and because they must defend themselves because our legal system is poor. Also, many believe we must protect ourselves from corrupt cops and the government. America is full of weak politician cowards who are afraid to create fair laws without loopholes for the rich and entitled. enter my house, you're dead.
This is so stupid. I have guns... I'm not an idiot. All the people I know who own guns are probably smarter than I am and are very well educated. Most are engineers, doctors and lawyers.
You need to think about why you have these silly, unfounded prejudices against people who own guns.
The more restrictions you have on firearms, the more violence there is. You give criminals the advantage, they know that the citizens are helpless. The army base was an example. Soldiers were not allowed to have their sidearms. It took a an armed civilian to stop the guy.
To be anti-gun like this person depicts in the video is the most illogical and irresponsible view I've ever seen any one possibly muster. Completely pathetic.
I think to ban firearms is the best thing for this country. Then the citizens will all be helpless to the criminals who buy their guns on the black market. Get real you effin liberals the safest nation is an armed nation government and citizens alike.
All of us here in the USA should have a stockpile of guns and ammo. You never know when you will have to form a militia.
If our government decides to turn against its people and everyone is disarmed there will be nothing left to do except lay down and submit. Or if this country is invaded what will you do when the invaders come to your door?
The "gun control" crowd really does not wish to control guns .. they REALLY want to control people ... those "other people" who do not occupy the moral high ground in their socialist utopia.
These are the same people who think that is is SO progressive that a thug who kicks down your door, rapes your tween-aged daughter and kills the whole family can get a fair trial, and maybe a light sentence because he was born to a poor single mother and his uncle beat him.
Gun control is a difficult topic for liberals and conservatives alike. But I think the most common thought for pro-control people is of handguns. Handguns pose a very different threat than, say, rifles and shotguns. Handguns are much more commonly use in crimes.
So what about rifles? What about people who use guns for hunting? Should they, the people who legally purchase and own, and use guns for legal activities, really be the ones held accountable for these criminals?
Republicans to the front - haha. You´ll never learn he? Death penalty, guns, if you´re not with us - you´re against us, health care - and all this intellectual bullshit. If I read these coms I see there´s no chance for an intelligent discussion.
I agree, there is no intelligent discussion to be had. You either support the right to own a firearm and are correct, or you don't support that right and you're wrong. Simple.
Ok, news flash! We are not a nation of peace. Our nation was created from war. We have been fighting for our place in the world from day one. You anti war, anti gun ppl need to get your pussy 3rd world ass in a 3rd world place. You have no honor or respect for those that have given you your freedom. Please leave at any time. Feel free to take the muslims with you.
The guy is right, they would shoot you and your kid before 911 gets to you. And that is true that they could shoot you before you get to your gun. But the essence of that is you have better chances at least to ensure your protection by having a gun, period. What do you think?
On the other hand, USA does have one of the highest murder rates of the industrialized nations. It also doesn't seem wise to make guns so accessible.
As trends show that with gun accessibility increased, so is the murder rate. A large number of the homicide is usually domestic (within the family) or between gangs (breaking into the OTHER grow house). It is quite RARE that a random thug would just go out and kill innocent civilians out of the blue. Most of the time the killer knows the victim
Maybe it's pretty unlikely that you'll be the victim of a violent home invasion, but why not protect yourself just case? Also, I'm an advocate of concealed carry for law abiding citizens so we can be protected out of the home just as well as we're protected at home.
We have the highest murder rated because of drug dealers and gangs, not law abiding citizens who like to shoot.
Also, having a gun in your house doesn't make you more likely to commit murder. That has been proven over and over.
Wow, so many "pro-gunners" on this site. So as a Canadian I'll add my 2 cent. I am quite mixed in this subject.
On one side I understand the constitution and freedom to defend oneself and not just trust the gov't. As history shows, there have been many oppressive gov't using force to control their ppl. Also by the time you call 911 or "argue", you'd be dead...
The government has to take your guns before they take your freedom.
That does not mean that if you don't have a gun they will take your freedom but history shows governments that do harm the population disarm them first.
People are literally dying to get into America, land of the free. Where do you suppose that freedom orignated and how? Do you think it was some peaceful negotiation with the British government?
How many of you have read the writings of our founders to see what their positions were on guns?
Well listening to these people talk, you can see how the Nazis so easily came to power. In the US we naturally resist tyranny. The Germans, Brits and French are so used to it they don't even know how little freedom they have.
Well if it wasn't a "symbol for freedom" , would it be the second amendment in our Bill of Rights? It's right after the right to free speech and free press, so I think our Founding Fathers believed it was pretty damn important.
A man with a gun is a citizen. A man without a gun is a subject. There's no such thing as a free society that also bans guns.
News flash... Bush isn't the president anymore. If you feel your first amendment rights are in peril, you better take it up with Obama.
Newsflash. Dubya hasn't been POTUS for almost a year. And he made no media restrictions. And the US media are the lapdogs of the left. Now the current POTUS has waged a war against a singular, right leaning cable news channel. Dubya never attacked any of the media.
Yes, because the American Revolution was fought with lawyers and politicians...Oh wait, it wasn't. The only way freedom is ensured is by the measure you can protect it. If you cannot defend your freedom what other rights truly matter? Is a lawyer or your freedom of speech going to protect you from a person breaking into your home or car?
Yeah, That's what I noticed first, the Euros and their Eurothink that guns are bad and people shouldn't be allowed to own. Ask the Brits about their increased rate of murders by knives.
Not just knives but gun crime is way up to! When are people going to understand that banning guns doesn't mean less gun crime, it just means less safety for law abiding people! It's insane!
I believe in atlatl's, they're more effective than guns and they're made out of wood.
I think if the take away guns, they should also take away knifes (as they did in ancient China), and ice picks, hockey sticks, baseball bats, and fists.
Remember: It isn't fists that kill people, it's people.
89% of all guns that are used to kill people in the U.S are bought from the boreder.the first person she talked to is so fucking stupid ya im gonna try and talk down a guy that just broke into my house with a fucking weapon. and also people will always kill other people. here you go fast and with out much pain. other counterys you die slow with a blunt weapon.
That guy who was talking about guys' names with Abdula and similar names should be checked out is IGNORANT! Including the fort hood incident there have only been TWO incidences involving muslims but there have been hundreds with christians...the only difference is when a christian does it they do not bother to point out the religion because they want to form your opinions about muslims so they can invade these muslim countries without objection.
Ft. Hood and Ft. Dix are two. Then we have the shoe bomber dude. That'd be three. Then two students who were picked up with bomb making plans (that's four). And that's without googling. You want to stick with just two?
I have nothing against gun ownership, but you have to wonder. In England the deaths by firearms are considerably less than just a major city in the US. Guns are illegal in England. It makes you wonder if guns should be available for public use.
Having a gun means security in more ways than one. If the weapon in the mather is locked up by the husband in a family, he can feel more secur in his relationship to his wife, he can avoid dishes, he can make sure his son play in the school footballteam instead of taking dancinglessons, his daughter will stay a virgin untill she gets married with the fathers boss's son, and all sort of things. Guns is the only thing that maintain freedome, and it make you achiving the American Dream :D
More americans shoot their own family members or themselves while defending their homes many times over versus the number that successfully defend themselves from home invaders. The homicide rate in the US is higher than ALL other industrialized nations combined. Because of the easy access to firearms. Or would Americans be going at each other with knifes and bats like crazy if they had no guns? Not so much.
turfturbo lease post any video or artcle where will show what you are sayng a find opozit, they don,t take iligal guns they take legal guns sound stupid?in my cases police camemore than 5 minutes !how many thinks you can do in 5 minutes ore how far you can run?
Everything you stated is blatantly fucking incorrect. There are (at minimum) 800,000 cases where a firearm was used in self-defense each year, while people might shoot themselves more than they shoot criminals, they defend themselves with firearms far more often. The homicide rate in the U.S. is not hight that all other industrialized nations. And yes, they probably would use other items, why wouldn't they? They do in the U.K., they do in Australia and Japan, why not the U.S.?
What a dumb lady who says you should defend yourself with arguments. What if someone is coming at YOU with a gun? What argument is going to help you then?
Totally disagree that people only use guns on their neighbors lol...we have a gun in the basement, never been touched, but if someone comes in to hurt our family, you better believe we're going to use it.
"Most people get killed by their own guns or shot by their own guns." That would mean most gun owners die by their own gun. Seriously, does this guy even have a brain?
Go to a place where many guns are owned. See how the kids who grow up with guns handle them (hint: as tools, not toys). People who own guns respect them as dangerous weapons. Gun control should only be employed on a pragmatic basis - a pistol for self-protection is fine, but no larger guns if you are in a condensed area.
When there are seconds between you, life and death a cop is only minutes away. Don't rely on the police to protect you, be proactive. No one is going to care about protecting your ass as much as you. If you rely on the cops, here's a little test: Your alone in a room with 3 large muscled up guys who's going to do very bad things to you in the next 30 seconds. You have in front of you a loaded gun and a cell phone. Which one would you grab? Let that scenario sink in before you answer.
Personally I see the idea behind gun control and even agree with it to some extent. I don't own any handguns and that may create a bias for me, but maybe only handguns should have tighter restrictions. And then maybe only semi autos, and allow revolvers to be bought for self defense without too much hassle other than a background check.
What happened in Texas shows we really need to have guns, because nobody will save u if a crazy person start to shoot. Yeah call 911 so they can come to get your dead body. The same in other school shootings. The people there were forbidden from having guns and that is what happened. If everyone had a gun, maybe the first would be killed, but the second would take down the shooter or at least have a chance for self-defense. But here the government is trying to give guns only to criminals.
YOU are asking the wrong question... guns are not a defensive weapon... they are an offensive weapon... the question to ask is, "Should you be allowed to use a gun in offense?". THEN
The way I see it, there are only two main reasons to own a gun. 1) To defend yourself against criminals, and 2) To defend yourself against the government. In case 1, the damage caused by misuse almost cancels out the benefits. In case 2, the government has much better weapons than your puny little pistol. But there's a third case, where the gun can be used as a device for measuring freedom. If the gov't comes after your guns, they will come after anything.
We don't live in a wilderness any more. With the exception of maybe Governor Palin and the NRA most Americans do not resort to hunting daily to put food on the table. Within the cities more guns are used for offense than for defense. The right to bear arms presumed a disciplined force to be called upon in a time of need.
The 2nd amendment has nothing to do with hunting. So why make a "wilderness" comment?
What are you stats that guns are used more for offense? Do they include defensive uses that occur without firing a shot? Incidences not reported to police? More defensive uses and positives come from from LEGAL gun ownership and outweigh the negatives.I've defended my well being without firing a shot. You didn't hear about it, because it was not NEWSWORTHY. The RIGHT of the PEOPLE...it's clearly understood.
Also, if you think carrying a gun provides freedom, that suggest whoevers got the biggest weapon is most free.
Freedom is about being able to do with your life as you wish as long as you do not impose on the freedom of others. Freedom of speech is a perfect way to communicate. No need for violence.
True freedom is harmony. Sadly, there is very little of it left it seems
You cant defend yourself with a gun. You can only attack. Attack the attacker! LOL
Seriously people, if someone comes at you with a gun, you are at their mercy for the most part, whether you have one or not.
Its a shame we still dont understand the dangers of firearms and why they should not be used anywhere. We should not produce such weapons. They are the cowards weapons of choice.
In an ideal world you'd be correct. Unfortunately we don't live in that. We have to content with criminals and lunatics who don't listen to reason. A gun can protect me better against those than my faith in the system. Also, all weapons are offensive and defensive, even in an argument.
Exactly. The only people who disagree with this are living in a cushioned fantasy world where they think violent crime doesn't exist just because they live in all white upper class suburbs.
You don't get to control what a criminal intends to do to anyone, that's why you need the right to defend yourself with a firearm. If you think you will just give your money to an armed robber and he will leave, you may have another thing coming, they may murder you after the fact to avoid a witness.
When you attack an attacker....it's called defense. Do you honestly not know what the meaning of defense is? And you are the exact reason why we need firearms, because you don't have a problem denying them to criminals, only those who abide by the law.
Well i think its sensible here in Australia, we are only allowed to have afew gun catagories, like with rifles for instance: bolt action and muzzel loading rifles are some of the few allowed. Your not going to go on a killing spree with a peice 60 or 100 year old technology. Pistols are like the hardest to get here, and you must have a very good purpose for getting one. America on the other hand, you can buy a sub machine gun for a few hundred dollars, with only a backround check.
No, you cannot buy a sub-machine gun for a few hundred dollars. That's completely incorrect. Well, unless you're a criminal, but they aren't concerned with the law, nor the background check, so that point is moot.
I actually wouldn't have gun, since no matter what, I wouldn't like to kill anyone.
If I'd feel threated, I'd rather learn martial art - and fight like that.
Like some people (luckily) realized: with gun, you and your family are in bigger dangerous that without it.
I'm glad you choose mostly the answers -against- guns. I think people there must realize, that owning a gun, isn't SO regular (and especially not good, or smart) anymore. :)
The stupidity and ignorance is unbelieveable, people have been brainwashed and programmed to not use the brain God gave them. Without guns the American revolution would not have happened and you would not be having this discussion, GET IT???
You do that...make sure you tell the operator to have the police bring the CSI team with them...because they'll be needed.
If you see someone breaking into your neighbors home...yes call 911.
If someone's in your home and is coming into your bedroom, or worse...one of your kids... You make them realize...wrong house tonight bud...Click...Boom. ....then call 911.
The American government possesses nuclear weapons, the most technologically advanced planes on the planet, cruise missiles, biological weaponry, and a defense budget of $500 billion annually - which is equivalent to more than the defence budgets of every other nation on Earth COMBINED - that you paid for with taxes.
If your government wanted to kill you, then you wouldn't even see it coming.
Owning a gun is of no use whatsoever - they'll never even give you a target to shoot at.
Bullshit dude. I'm in the military. We are sworn to defend the Constitution and obey the LAWFUL orders of the President and the officers appointed over us, etc. I will not follow the orders of some president-turned-dictator of an illegal unconstitutional government. I will not take guns away from citizens or anything else. I will take whatever guns I can and head for the hills to resist and so would most of the guys I work with. Would be nice to have some citizens there with their own guns
Whilst you've tried to cover your arse at the end there, because I sense you've realised the problem as you were typing your response, you've proved my point.
Either the military will refuse any orders to attack the American people, or they'll follow orders and use weaponry that an ordinary citizen with a gun cannot resist.
I agree with you that the former is vastly more likely. The military would not follow an order to attack their own people.
But, either way, armed American civilians would play no part.
If the military refuse to attack, then the government has no actual power to attack the American people.
Don't run to the hills to resist. Just go to Washington D.C. and assassinate the tyrants - with no military backing, the men in suits have no power against the American people, plus the support of its military.
That's what protects your Constitution and liberty from government.
In an attempt to hold on to power, a gvmt. that kills its own citizenry and destroys its own infrastructure loses power, thus limiting the response it can make toward aggression against it.
Imagine a king that puts down a peasant revolt and succeeds. But all the farms and crops are burned and there's only 5 peasants left alive. "Yea! I'm still the ruler!" cries the king. Then one of the peasants says to him, "Yes, but ruler over what?"
Ultimately the right to bear arms was included in the Constitution so that We the People would have the means to resist if an illegal government ever came to power. Freedom is fragile, democracy is fragile. History has shown this. Don't take it for granted.
But personal self-defense of your home is also a valid reason for owning a gun - but it's not the primary one like most people think. It's not the reason for the 2nd amendment.
Education is key. Educate yourself about the world, the community you live in, and with things you're unfamiliar with. Educate yourself about firearms, their uses, and above all safety.

Violent crimes stats are not universal, gun deaths are. England has the lowest gun death rates of any EU country.

They also have a higher gun death rate AFTER the ban.....speaks volumes.

42 gun deaths in 2008 in the UK, 42. Conviction or not those are the only deaths from guns in one year. 28,000 gun deaths in the USA in 2008. See the difference?
warriorprince1010 2 years ago
England is the size of Texas. We have 300 millions people, with over 200 million firearms in this country.
See the difference?
You ban guns now...you disarm the innocent and many will die without the ability to defend themselves.
And of those 28,000 gun deaths...wanna wager on how many were killed by felons that are not allowed to have firearms? Only in a fantasy world can someone think banning will end gun crime here. You can wait for help...I'll bring my own.
evolutionist101 2 years ago
You ban guns and gun deaths go down, we have seen the stats, they do not lie.

Just like drugs.
evolutionist101 2 years ago
Oh, and by the way, They banned handguns in Washington DC in the late 70's. Gun murder when up EVERY YEAR for 30 years, except for 1 year.
Yep...we've seen the stats. In America...they go UP.

The US has not banned guns so stats within a country does not count. The UK and Japan have low gun deaths and have both banned guns. The stats do not lie.

Stats can say whatever you want them to say.
You have 60 million people in the UK. We have 300 million in the US, with a ton of different cultures.
+200 million firearms in the country. A ban won't work. Bottomline. We've also banned cocaine, marijuana, meth....Hasn't worked...has it?
Check out Jamaica's complete gun ban. Then get back to me on how well gun bans work.

Its not a choice, its a right guaranteed by the Constitution that you use to make your crap videos. More than 50% of the people who said that nobody should own a gun, were forigners. If you take away guns, gun-runners will get more US money and guns wont be gone at all.
ShawnPangle 2 years ago
States where the right to carry laws are implemented have markedly lower murder/assault/rape rates. In fact, there's typically a negative relationship between gun restrictions and safety. Less than 1 percent of people who legally own a weapon ever commit a violent crime. The notion that gun ownership is an unnecessary right is ridiculous, whenever restrictions are enacted they really only prevent law abiding citizens from purchasing weapons, not violent criminals.

Freedom to own a gun is like freedom to do anything here. I don't stand in your way, but I'd rather own a baseball bat. My kid (should I someday have one) can't blow his/her head off with a bat. Also, short of using a baseball, a bat dosen't kill in gang warfare (in context of driveby shootings).
ripperzane 2 years ago
People we are talking about a constitutional right.....RIGHT not a choice to defend yourself against the government as well as any other threat. While there are a generous amount of people out there that shouldn't own a gun, your opinion about that doesn't matter unless you are asking to repeal a constitutional ammendment. A gun is a tool, guns don't kill, People kill. So focus on the real issue. Get a gun and defend yourself from the PEOPLE who are wishing to do you harm. But do it wisley!

free to buy guns with a driver's license perhaps, but not free access to healthcare or freedom from taxation on lotto/prizes/gifts.

The U.K. has the highest violent crime rate out of any developed country in the world.

Firearms have limitations exploit them to stay safe.

warriorprince1010 2 years ago
England and Japan actually have a good culture that helps with public unrest. In the States things are crazy. It's not the amount of guns, it is the culture.
AugustusLarch 2 years ago
That's not entirely true. There have been more gun deaths per year since private gun ownership in the UK was banned. And far too many of those deaths have been caused by the police.
Do I need to remind you about Jean Charles de Menezes? He was executed by police at Stockwell tube station in London. He was shot in the head 7 times at close range by Metropolitan Police officers who misidentified him as a suicide bomber about to explode a device on the London Underground.
How is that not murder?
G58 2 years ago
It is murder. You are preaching to the converted. Un-authorized firearm use is a symptom of a greater problem. Indentifing firearms as the problem is like blaming the wind for toppling a house when the foundation is crumbling. People are generally dumb. Why? There is an agenda to make people dumb. Go after that problem instead.
AugustusLarch 2 years ago 2
Okay, we're in broad agreement here, but the quantity of guns in the USA IS an issue for the simple reason that regulation isn't logistically possible due to the extremely high level of proliferation. Yes, the non regulatory culture is to blame, as is the lack of training requirement.
Also, the excuses given for keeping large quantities, and the the real reasons. They are not always the same.
And can we really blame the state for mass stupidity? Whatever happened to personal responsibility?

ThePopCulturePastor 2 years ago 3
That's not why they want to ban them. It's because too many gun owners are stupid. And by stupid, I mean they refuse to acknowledge the responsibility that comes with owning a lethal weapon, & because guns have become 'essential accessories' for street gang members.
And I speak as someone who HAS used a gun in my own defense, and would be prepared to use lethal force if necessary again. But gun safety has to be paramount. They are not toys - or status symbols. Y'all listenin' Hollywood?

Look at the UK. They completely banned firearms and they're experiencing major increases in violent crime and GUN CRIME. Wait a minute... I thought they banned guns? The "gun control" crowd really does not wish to control guns .. they REALLY want to control people ... those "other people" who do not occupy the moral high ground in their socialist utopia.
These are the same people who think that is is SO progressive that a thug who kicks down your door, rapes your tween-aged daughter and kills the whole family can get a fair trial, and maybe a light sentence because he was born to a poor single mother and his uncle beat him.
Gun control is just an excuse.
llarzelere 2 years ago
Gun control is a difficult topic for liberals and conservatives alike. But I think the most common thought for pro-control people is of handguns. Handguns pose a very different threat than, say, rifles and shotguns. Handguns are much more commonly use in crimes.
So what about rifles? What about people who use guns for hunting? Should they, the people who legally purchase and own, and use guns for legal activities, really be the ones held accountable for these criminals?

On the other hand, USA does have one of the highest murder rates of the industrialized nations. It also doesn't seem wise to make guns so accessible.
As trends show that with gun accessibility increased, so is the murder rate. A large number of the homicide is usually domestic (within the family) or between gangs (breaking into the OTHER grow house). It is quite RARE that a random thug would just go out and kill innocent civilians out of the blue. Most of the time the killer knows the victim
valentin6li 2 years ago
Maybe it's pretty unlikely that you'll be the victim of a violent home invasion, but why not protect yourself just case? Also, I'm an advocate of concealed carry for law abiding citizens so we can be protected out of the home just as well as we're protected at home.
We have the highest murder rated because of drug dealers and gangs, not law abiding citizens who like to shoot.
Also, having a gun in your house doesn't make you more likely to commit murder. That has been proven over and over.

More americans shoot their own family members or themselves while defending their homes many times over versus the number that successfully defend themselves from home invaders. Everything you stated is blatantly fucking incorrect. There are (at minimum) 800,000 cases where a firearm was used in self-defense each year, while people might shoot themselves more than they shoot criminals, they defend themselves with firearms far more often. They do in the U.K., they do in Australia and Japan, why not the U.S.?

The right to bear arms presumed a disciplined force to be called upon in a time of need.
httprover 2 years ago
The 2nd amendment has nothing to do with hunting. So why make a "wilderness" comment?
What are you stats that guns are used more for offense? Do they include defensive uses that occur without firing a shot? Incidences not reported to police? More defensive uses and positives come from from LEGAL gun ownership and outweigh the negatives.I've defended my well being without firing a shot. You didn't hear about it, because it was not NEWSWORTHY. The RIGHT of the PEOPLE...it's clearly understood.

God, why do people ask the resident the same question back instead of answering?
"What would YOU do if yer daughter was bein' hurt?"
She's asking you for the show, it doesn't matter.

SOCRATES012 2 years ago
In an ideal world you'd be correct. Unfortunately we don't live in that. We have to content with criminals and lunatics who don't listen to reason. A gun can protect me better against those than my faith in the system. Also, all weapons are offensive and defensive, even in an argument.
rattaplan 2 years ago 2

Why dont we start to create that "ideal world" my friend?
If we tried a lil harder and believed it was possible we may just get there...
SOCRATES012 2 years ago
If only that were possibly, my friend.
The ideal world would probably mean that I'm the only human allowed to have firearms, and or nukes. ;)

Seriously, spread peace and one day our great grandchildren may thank us for believing in ourselves to change brother
Be well
SOCRATES012 2 years ago

RedShadow238 2 years ago
No, you cannot buy a sub-machine gun for a few hundred dollars. That's completely incorrect. Well, unless you're a criminal, but they aren't concerned with the law, nor the background check, so that point is moot.
jubeigh13 2 years ago
I actually wouldn't have gun, since no matter what, I wouldn't like to kill anyone.
If I'd feel threated, I'd rather learn martial art - and fight like that.
Like some people (luckily) realized: with gun, you and your family are in bigger dangerous that without it.
I'm glad you choose mostly the answers -against- guns. I think people there must realize, that owning a gun, isn't SO regular (and especially not good, or smart) anymore. :)

Really Lori? You're just Trolling now?
I appreciate your divinely relativistic final word on the issue, but this issue was resolved over 200 years by the US constitution.
All US citizens have a right to own guns, and the 2nd amendment is not about trap shooting or deer hunting.
I think it's irresponsible to even address such a complex and important issue in a 2:34 video.
Ridiculous oversimplification.

I am glad at the end that, despite her obvious opinion against them, she ended the subject quite objectively, good reporting.

The stupidity and ignorance is unbelieveable, people have been brainwashed and programmed to not use the brain God gave them. Without guns the American revolution would not have happened and you would not be having this discussion, GET IT???

"I'll call 911."

The gun should be banned...
Personnal choice? Do you think it is fair to someone who put their kids safety first by not owning a gun ?

I was a burglar in my youth. Ironically I got guns from under beds that people had to protect themselves from me.

The right to bear arms is needed so that the people can overthow their gvmt. if necessary.

Would be nice to have some citizens there with their own guns
mwe1967 2 years ago
Whilst you've tried to cover your arse at the end there, because I sense you've realised the problem as you were typing your response, you've proved my point.
Either the military will refuse any orders to attack the American people, or they'll follow orders and use weaponry that an ordinary citizen with a gun cannot resist.
I agree with you that the former is vastly more likely. The military would not follow an order to attack their own people.
KlaxonCow 2 years ago
But, either way, armed American civilians would play no part.
If the military refuse to attack, then the government has no actual power to attack the American people.
Don't run to the hills to resist. Just go to Washington D.C. and assassinate the tyrants - with no military backing, the men in suits have no power against the American people, plus the support of its military.
That's what protects your Constitution and liberty from government.
Not a shotgun under your pillow.

As Jefferson put it in the Declaration of Independence:
"governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from THE CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED"
No consent, no powers.
They're only men, not gods. If a handful of idiots want to be so insane as to take on 300 million people, then they shall have their reward.

Then one of the peasants says to him, "Yes, but ruler over what?"
bradwatson7324 2 years ago
They don't have to kill them all. They pick them off one by one and make examples of the few to control the many.
stratvic 2 years ago
Ultimately the right to bear arms was included in the Constitution so that We the People would have the means to resist if an illegal government ever came to power. Freedom is fragile, democracy is fragile. History has shown this. Don't take it for granted.
But personal self-defense of your home is also a valid reason for owning a gun - but it's not the primary one like most people think. It's not the reason for the 2nd amendment.
