We just cam home from the opryland resort. We went to down town Nashville and it is amazing how well every thing looks. Tennessee is a awesome. you didn't hear about massive looting. People helped each other. Great video!!
yea very big disaster i live down the street from the area of the video 2:57 is was crazy about 5 feet there about may 3rd cars and stuff were under water
wow, i have never seen something like that before... i have a quick question: is this flood going on every year at Nashville or Tennessee st. ? or in certain months of a year the weather is staying like this?
@marina3203875 This is what some are calling a "500 year flood", it is not something Nashville had seen in a very long time. Flooding like this is very rare in this area.
Great video. I've worked flood cleanup in W Nashville and Bellevue and live in Sumner Co, and have friends in S Nashville and Antioch with damage. I've seen those parts of town, but not yours. It was a mess everywhere. Thanks for sharing and I'm glad you're OK.
I grew up in East Nashville, on the 1100 block of Petway Avenue, to be exact. I have seen Ellington Parkway flood a few times before - once in 1999 and once in 2002, but I have never seen that much water, ever. The prior two times we had maybe three inches of water covering the roadway; that had to have been at least nine inches to a foot...
I live very close to places this video was shot....I live near McFerrin....I was lucky but so many others are not. Thanks for this video, it was awesome. And the song was good too. I've never heard any of Jars of Clay's music, but I am going to check them out now.
@LittleHann123 I agree, it wan't smart to be out driving in this. However, I didn't have any idea that this flooding was going on in my neighborhood until I went out in it an saw it. My initial intention was not to go flood watching, it was to let out a friend's dog, but I took cameras "just in case"... and I was glad I did.
This is a horrible tragedy amazing amounts of devastation people's whole lives are gone and all people can do is sit here and make inaccurate bible references last time I read my bible God said he wouldn't destroy the earth with flooding again so don't pawn this off as God's wrath.. people need help they shouldn't be denied that help because they were more organized when their disaster hit.
well atleast you guys have a choice to be in the water or not ...Its simple if theres water in the street turn around ..Holy shit ...
Im sorry i just saw this other video and the video author was complaining about how obama didn't come walk around there ground zero and how people paid more attention to katrina and new orleans ...I busted out laughing ..all the neighbors in the vid were alive an well complaining about there tvs not working holy shit i'm on planet mars i swear ..Cool vid though
Accept Jesus, the rapture is NEAR,will you meet Jesus in the clouds?....Or face devastations like no other in history?Repent all! The time IS now....DON"T WAIT ! God bless you all.
Thanks for sharing your awesome video! I for one appreciate the fact that you drove through deep water to get footage. The pussification of this country is unbearable. You should be applauded.
My heart is breaking for you in Nashville, and surrounding areas..... Stay SAFE!! (Sad to think I have to come to Youtube to see any coverage other than Weather Channel on this flood.... where is the national outcry for help???)
Nice Video! Best wishes to Nashville in their recovery from so much flooding. It is unbelievable how much the city was impacted by these storms and what a large scale disaster this turned out to be. I hope people that are able will donate to the recovery efforts.
UPDATE: Most of the water that was seen in this video was gone within 24 hours. People who live near larger bodies of water are still in the grips of this tragedy and part of our downtown is still covered in water. If you want to help, text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation on your mobile phone.
@TennesseeNurselady I understand your frustration. I saw plenty of videos, not to mention the one I filmed, that made me call people stupid. I don't think I drove into any dangerous water. The Douglas at Rosedale water was the only questionable crossing I made and it was about a foot deep and I was in a large truck. If we had stalled out or gotten stuck, we could have walked out of it. I would have felt embarrassed but no rescue team would have been required. Should I have done it, probably not.
@RiottimePMP06 I only drove through two places on the road with standing water. I was trained in the the military on doing water crossings, so I had an understanding of how to enter the water and what was an appropriate speed for the depth and flow of the water but I have no idea how fast it was. I drove at a speed that "felt" appropriate.
We owe it to future generations to learn from these "teachable moments."

Severe and bizarre weather -- like the astonishing amount of rain that fell on Nashville in less than 48 hours -- will become more frequent and more intense as a direct result of human-caused global warming.
@substanti8 It isn't that bizarre for Tennessee to flood....the dams built during the Great Depression curbed some of the flooding, but it has always been common for Tennessee Arkansas Kentucky etc to flood like this....to automatically blame global warming means you dont know the history and geography of the region, and it is irresponsible.
That's a straw man. I did NOT "blame global warming" for the flood. I wrote about the link between severe WEATHER and global warming. Read it again. See the part about "the astonishing amount of rain"? I suggest that you not try to dispute that fact, unless you want to look foolish.
@dannysathyadass This is the song "Flood" from the band Jars of Clay, who just happen to be from Nashville as well. I think they make great music, check them out on iTunes!
@nnproductions I was in the Millington TN & Jackson TN flood that weekend of May and I honestly didn't want to hear any song about RAIN that weekend and I was just thinking that when they played Luke Bryan's new country song "Rain Is A Good Thing" LOL I don't think West TN would agree that weekend!?!? LOL God Bless all who "weathered" the flooding & those who lost in it! <3
@nnproductions I didn't know they are in Nashville. But my main problem is the song is about a flood created by God and God saving. It can come across that you're implying God is responsible for the flood. And what does God have to do with this? There's plenty of other music out there by local people that doesn't have to do with God flooding the Earth.
@willquestion You are reading too much into this. If you want to have a theological discussion, message me off the comments. However, I will say this. If you want to see God, come to Nashville, He is all over this flood. The churches are responding powerfully to those in distress. Neighbors are helping neighbors, people are giving, loving and caring all over the place. I chose the song because of the "theme" of a flood, nothing else. I didn't have a single religious intention with the song.
Great Video man. I live 20 mile outside Nashville poeple just don't know how much flooding there is. But it's great to see people helping people they don't even know just so they can get back to so kind of everyday life.
I just want to let you know that after looking a videos for DAYS (to try and catch anything familiar to me from photos of friends in your area) that I found your piece to be the most informative of what it's showing. My highest complements on a superb job. Get out there & get us more! Thanks. <3 ...and blessings to all the folks down there, we're so very sorry this has happened to ya'll.
