Dear Oahusea, you hit the nail on the head! This goes into my "CHILD PRODIGIES OR ROBOTS?" playlist. Yes, Claire has a technique to die for (amazing precision and speed) but other than that, there's really nothing interesting about her. Huangci's phrasing, dynamics, pedalling are all predictable and sounds rushed at times.

I don't agree but I do agree a poor program. I think she has the making of a perfect pianist. It's an old 'old argument' that one uses on a fantastic technically brilliant pianist to then slate the musicality.

Turning this into a sport is quite common, but she will evolve!

Go listen to her performance of Prokofiev's toccata in D minor and you try and fault that! There are elements of musical integrity that are flawless.

Her piano playing amazes me not only because of her speed. For most people, when they try to play faster and faster, they tend to sound more muddled or confused, but not so with Claire. On the contrary, she sounds more confident as she plays faster! It defies normal expectations. You'll never hear her slowing down for a seemingly difficult passage.

I think she played a little heavy for this piece, but she pulled of the first example (recital 1/5). Sure, she couldn't play this like Martha Goldstein but let's give her a break, after all, she only looks a young girl. More practice and work, and she can pull it off completely.

More ignorance..to put in the same bag the "Ability" to play fast with not wrong notes of the PIG Lang Lang, and the rational and superior techinque of this outstanding virtuosa. And technicaly Yuni Li is under those two technically. Of course musicaclly at least Undi Li try to do thongs honestly, while Lang Lang is a grabage musician. Hungci is superior by far in any sense to those two.

There's a pretty generic list of great pianists, among which claire does not sit. indeed, the list is fairly generic as one names it - this is because these pianists such as yundi li, lang lang and mitsuko uchida (among asian pianists) are widely acknowledged as having extreme virtuosity. people may argue over which they prefer or who edges out slightly in technical skill but none will argue that they are not great. claire however has no such support.

her playing lacks a lot of vital emotion. she sacrificed for speed but overall, she did not have many mistakes, but did not expression and she played with no emotion to an extent considering her tempo does not stick to the original time signature and correct tempo.

I am in awe you guys who critize her are insane, and have probably never played a note in your life. haha. Do you know how hard it is to play on a Yamaha?! The action is more friendly to someone with lead hands to push down the keys. The action on this piano must have been adjusted to play quick, because its so hard to transition key to key with the ones I have played on.

In places it is nice. You can tell where all that practice time is spent and it's not on the slow bits. Over time, she'll learn to appreciate other things in music and then she could be the best around.
