I find it fascinating that of the two "Big" Final Boss theme songs (Dancing Mad and One Winged Angel), this one seems to get so much more love from the fans. But that's probably because there's not too much you can do to One Winged Angel to revamp it; it works best as an orchestral scary latin-chanting piece.

It says something that the work Nobuo keeps revisiting ( Aria de Mezzo Carattere) and the work the fans keep revisiting come from the same game. Uematsu has two masterpieces in this game.

As for this particular iteration, choosing to include the bit from Aria de Mezzo Carattere/ Darkness and Starlight was surprising and grand, but ending the song there might have been better, since as it is it peters off without a proper ending. But then that's a pet peeve of mine, so I may be biased.

I do have to admit that there was a slightly less than awesome part of this song: from 8:20 to 8:37. Dancing Mad is epic enough without having any sampling of Aria di mezzo carattere to water it down. Other than that, it's full of win and yes.
