It is hard to load these small trucks with a 385 from the side, and the bucket is too wide to load effectively from the rear, I think the operator is doing a good jog given the circumstances. In production I always get upset when the operator tries to get a perfect load every time with no spillage thus sacrificing cycle time.
@vantagetes I have to agree. It was shot rock he was sitting on, and as long as he is swinging less than 90 degrees, it's still pretty much text book for bench loading over the side.
@JimBruce42 I fully agree with Vantage. And the little material hitting the side and falling off is well worth the investment of the much faster dump and cycle time. Good job hoe hand.
Bustin your ass out there or busting up the sides of the rock trucks, I would fire you on the spot if you were hot dogging like that. I can see you can run the machine well, but its not like that.
@lmvaillancourt its not hotdogging its called hauling ass dumping the bucket with the use of the stick bye throwing the dirt out of the bucket while dumping. Makes for as muck as 10 second faster load times.
Ill put my two cents in Too far away from his trucks Hes lifting the track of the ground Is quick but in time will learn to be smoother and even quicker I did
we need some new vids sir! someone point me in the right direction. ill put up some this season when im back at it. you guys wanna see some hardcore packer footage? im the best operator outthere
oh yeah that rock truck driver is a hot ass female who definitly knows how to lay on the throttle, but joking aside these haters really got to get a life and quit puttin down those of us who busted there asses to get to run a machine like this.maybe with a little hard work and dedication you to could be the one in that seat and listen to assholes like u bashing you also.grow up and quit being so damn jealous.
now to continue, there was the idiot who said about easing the bucket in to cut,lol wtf do u call it u must be a union turtle.that machine is 3 years old and hasnt had a repair yet i must really be hard on it,and 4 the guy who said about smooth, lol when you can grade within 4 to 6 inches with a 385 come see me.thank you to all of those who pitched me a compliment,i appriciate it and also love the fact that u call out those typical armchair QBs who r clueless and to me r just wannabes.thanx TK
i am the operator in this video, and the company is american infrastructure, now for all the brain dead wannabes who have there comments heres the scoop.the job is called atwater its a quarry reclamation, the fill is just to the right of the trucks for all u boneheads who said they shouldnt turn loaded, the trucks r running over limewaste that has about 2 foot of cover so thats the reason for only 3 buckets.my cycle times with that machine is always under 1 minute, and we were averaging 12000 yds/day
na o&k are simply far superior at moveing rock that cat makes me ill if a cat came on a low loader for me i'd tell him to carry on back home if you are going to operate a excavator operate something that can fill the bucket
he's a fast operator but doesnt seem the smoothest, one other thing i did notice is that the trucks are turning round loaded too which isnt a good thing.
Nice cycle times....And that end dump driver was on the gas when that horn beeped. Must have felt that truck gettin full and was waiting for the beep. In gear with the parking break off, right foot hovering over that gas pedal, left foot on the brake, rev'd up and ready to GO! That horn beep from the excavator operator is like a green flag at a Nascar race. Move some earth!
the operator is running that 385 pretty fast, as far as the mess...well its a mass ex and not as much is falling off. and you never back trucks into a hoe if you can help it, trucks dont make any money backing up to the hoe when they can just pull up aside it
That's exactly why your an operator and not a foreman. That guys good but that truck could use another bucket full. And if your not a retard you usually memorize how many buckets gone on your truck each time. So they know when to go before the beep.
I drive a 385 in Ras Laffan, Qatar, and if I drove it like that I would get sacked. I agree that time is money but the fines that he is losing are potentially damaging - he should be passing over the tail rather than placing it over the side - its quicker and less spillage. To be fair to the driver, I think that the film is quite juddery and makes him look quite rough though!
While I respect everyone's opinions, I think it is unfair to assume the operator doesn't know what he's doing. First off, most of what falls to the side of the truck was just fines, though it's hard to tell from the video quality. As for speed, its a 385 load 40-ton trucks, they need to be loaded FULL as fast as possible to be profitable. He cleaned up after every other truck. Like I said I respect everyone opinion, but a bad operator wouldn't be told to run a 385
true say you guys can sit there and bench race all you want. that doesn't mean that anyones a better operator than someone else unless u can jump in the same machine and do the same job. i've seen guys that drive TLB differently than i do but u don't know what they've been told by there bosses
yea we all like to play "monday morning q-backs" but honestly I know I'd be dead if i loaded a truck from the side...then have the rock truck drive over a sharp rock..pop a 12k dollar tire and put the truck out of service...you makin fast production, but if your down on truck for a dumb mistake can cost 100's of thousands of dollars.
I love all you Joe Cools that have a freaking comment about every aspect of the job. "He's not loading right, he slams the bucket, the machine's too big, too small, he's taking too big of a bite, the machines the wrong size",
just what the world needs, another You Tube know it all.
He's not that good he spills to much when he moves into the truck he drives that machine as if it were a mini excavator there's no need to slam the bucket into the ground with a machine that size he could just simply ease into it.
he loads a 30 tonne truck in under a minuite, i'd say thats about right with such a large machine, clean area, not a bad operator either, too many folks talk a good job, what machine do you drive?
jimmyclarke, you're half right... it's a 40 ton truck, and thats shot limestone that he's loading. I've watched this guy load trucks on several times, very consistent and very good
Ditto. That's definitely a mass ex. If you're not using that beefy boom and monster bucket to their capacity, you're wasting money. Those 740s got plenty of yards and power, load them up too. A mass ex will never be the champion of cycle time, and this dude's good for how fast he is.

@TheHairybaz Hey genius, if the bank is sluffing away like that you have to swing far enough to reach the trucks...they can only get so close!
