Spaniels and setters are adorable dogs and are very great house pets, good for all ages, get along well with most other dogs, and respond to training very easily. They are very caring and loyal dogs and are always there for you when you need them. I love these dogs.
@LongboardAddiction Lmao you are so dumb...I have an English Coker Spaniel and he is amazing. If you are a crappy owner and have no idea how to train a dog, you suck not the dog. Lol "real breeds". So how come the English Cocker Spaniel is the most succesful breed winner at Crufts Best in Show? (7 times) and how come spaniels were the best for 17 years in a row? You clearly have no idea what you're talking about.
@blinkerita I want to get a cocker spaniel so baddly. I was in a hospital and this brown haired cocker spaniel were a great therapy dog to help me get better and healthier. @LongliveHope2011 do your research. There is a difference in temperment between the parti colors and the buffs and blacks as they are obviously different bloodlines. lol i Just recently got my cocker about 2 weeks ago and she is black as well, when i read you rcomment saying you named her pepper i was like LOL since i named mine pepper too:)
I have a dog who is both cocker spaniel and cavalier king charles spaniel, and he is my baby. He is 10 years and he looks like a cavalier but has a longer nose and is a little bigger than a cavalier. The only thing he likes to do is to sleep and eat.
@Vigren89 If your dog is lazy and seems to do nothing but eat & sleep, then go get its Thyroid checked; they can have low thyroid just like us humans. Also, he could be bored.
@boomer1954ful He´s 10 years old, and there´s nothing wrong with him according to our vet, besides that he has a slipped disc in his back that he hardly has any problem with
Dude careful about them things. ... I like cockers, I do... but it seems the tan and buff ones are really fucked in the head. I was with a cocker rescue organization, so I've been around a lot of them. A lot of them had attitude problems but it seemed the majority of tan ones were seriously vicious. It sucks because they're so pretty.
@SadieRayy I had a golden/buff Cocker for 17 years. He never bit anybody, ever. Until the day our friend was in a hurry to put him outside forcefully...Barkleigh felt threatened and turned, bit, and drew blood. They get threatened easily. The rescue dogs are just REALLY traumatized and distrustful. With patience and behavioral training they can be sent to the right home. Sadly, many Cockers are the result of overbreeding...over nervousness can result. P.S. That language is not necessary!
@boomer1954ful Sorry. I was bitten by one of the buff ones a while back. I love cocker spaniels. I do. And the fact that they are being overbred is no good. Because we had to limit qualifications for most of the potential new homes. It's really sad. They are wonderful dogs.
I love cockers! They are really smart. It was like mine knew what I was thinking and I never "trained" her. She picked everything up so easily. I have a shih tzu now and I see a big difference but I love her too. It's not that she isn't as smart, she just does what she wants to lol.
@zombiegrl19 Ha, I have an American Cocker Spaniel, and she seems.. special. I think she may have been abused by the previous owners because she'll never go near my dad. :(
Not only did I grow up watching Breed all about it on animal planet, I also grew up with Cocker spaniels, and my parents raised Cockers for a while too! Such great little dogs, they truely are something special.
I have a pug a cocker spaniel and a corgie. I LOVE MY COCKER SPANIEL. She's so sweet and loving, she goes up to strangers looks up at them and then probably rolls over and asks for a belly rub. She's adorable and we sometimes take midday naps on the couch together. She is literally the one person in my life whom I know i will love forever. I feel happy just thinking about when i'll be home and get to see her again.
I love my baby daisy she is a tan cocker spainel i am only nine though i got her whan i was eight she is buitiful my aunt Joane gave her to me she had already named her though but i love animals and i really love love love my cocker spainel Daisy
I love my cocker spaniels...so far I have had three...my old girl, Rocket, a beautiful black and tan, was smarter than my son's third grade teacher. She died at 13. I niow have Darby Crash, a handsome black male, and Charley, a small and beautiful, blonde and white cocker. All three were rescues. There are the busybodies of the dog world, have to be in your business, part of the fmaily, curious, sweet, funny and gentle.
I love my black cocker spaniel! My husband got for me for Christmas 7 years ago when our youngest son left for college. She is my best friend and I cherish her.
@sonyblackeye It can be true in some cases. My neighbours had a cocker and they were in and out of the vet with her several times a week with all the health issues she had. They ended up needing to put the poor girl down because she was suffering. She lived a good long life with them though. I hope your cockers stay healthy! Wishing you many happy years together :)
Lol, I've got an English Cocker Spaniel. Her name's Casey. She has energy but is a real big baby. :P She only really likes me and my mom. She's not too fond of my brother and sister. In fact, she's sitting on my lap right now. :P
I"ve had a cocker spaniel for about twelve and a half years now. He lives at my parents house but he's still my buddy. My dad named him George and he goes by Georgie. Wouldn't trade him for anything. Love that dog so much. :)
Such a beautiful breed. I miss my late American Cocker Spaniel, Sadie, so much. =(
Very true about the health problems, sadly. Poor Sadie had eye, skin, ear and thyroid problems, but she was always such a happy girl and such a snob! xD She knew she was gorgeous! <3
The American Cocker Spaniel may be better "known" as a pet or a show dog, but those two things vanish when near a rabbit or bird..Also, they are notorious for leaving their paw prints on your heart.
Spaniels are very smart. They don't miss anything. They're sensitive, though. If they are traumatized as puppies I think this breed is more effected for life than some.
i agree with eddiealda's comment my bro has an english cocker but were scottish but no offense but compared to the king charles spaniel the cocker is beat by a longshot
I have a am cocker spaniel de are very beuifuel dogs my dog is eight m.and i love my dog very much=)<3 you can se her on my kanal scarlettjohanssonfan
Um...this breed may get 4 treats for energy, but my cocker (half English, half American) would like to sleep most of the day, and the other cocker owners I know say the same thing. 30 minutes at the dog park and she's sitting beside me, hoping we're going home for a nap.
I am not a fan of all the selective breeding and inbreeding in dogs. Its a bit extreme. I purchased 2 beautiful cocker spaniels from reputable breeders 4 years ago. I dearly love my dogs but I see now what an odd thing this obsession with keeping a good pedigree line is and I am sad that I didn't just rescue an ordinary mutt from a dog shelter which would be much healthier genetically and not so inbred.
@nicdhim I agree. We have a second-hand cocker and the main reason she was given away was because inbreeding has made cockers fairly high-maintenance.
They need firm, consistent discipline and training - people who buy them just on 'cuteness' factor (most dogs are descended from wolves; cockers from teddy bears!) end up with anxious dogs who pee everywhere, don't get on with other dogs, and can snap at strangers.
My parents had two of them when I was a little. Very fond memories, from what I can remember that is. Wonderful dogs, but unfortunately the health problem thing is true. One of them was blind and the other one was deaf.
I work for a local humane society shelter and a puppy mill was busted not too long ago. Our shelter received 11 cocker spaniels. They have anxiety and do not trust humans at all. So sad. Please tell all you know to STOP PUPPY MILLS!
I've always loved Cockers; their compact size makes them good for either a house or apartment, they're easily trained, have that soft expression that just melts my heart and a personality to match their looks. The only problem is that they shed quite a bit and it's very fine hair that gets stuck in your nose (I'm a groomer and that always happens unless I wear a mask). I have a Cockapoo named Abbey Road. I love her so much.
I had an american cocker spaniel. it was only ten months old when our neighbors shot it. They were angry because they got in trouble for flying their plane over the neighborhood.
no, we had no proof they did it because we didn't see it happen. Just one day our dog went missing, but we knew they did it because they said they would if the dog went on their property. anyways, three years later the father who told his sons to kill our dog died of lung cancer and the boy who shot our dog had a kid born with spina bifida so he got what he deserved. too bad for the kid though.
my american cocker is my best friend ever, and I love her like she is my sister or daughter or my own little angel. :)
she's a beauty but she's allergic to all kinds of things, her first years of life were pretty tough, we often had to take her to the vet in the middle of the night, becouse she had violent allergies. THANK GOD we saw each and every such moment, so we could save her. Now her allergies are kinda under control. But we know that anything can happen.
i have four cocker spaniel and they the best dogs ever. they all related, they came from my first dog named Happy. Happy lived to 18 years old. He never had no probloems.
I have a cocker spaniel and he is 10 years old. never had any health problems.
I got him from a breeder that was a friend of mine.
He is very smart and very protective of the family. I love him to death and so does everyone else. i would loved to get another later on day the road.
cocker spaniels are sooo energetic and full of personality. my dear Sparky lived to be almost 15 yrs old!.. and probably would've gone a few more years strong if it weren't for unfortunate events. i'll never forget his mischievious, yet lovable antics.. truly a great part of the family from day 1.
Not all Cockers are energetic. For example, when I let my dog out in the backyard he just sits on the porch and sunbathes in summer, or begs to be let in wintertime.(Which, by the way is still pretty bearible weather where I live.)
I have a cocker spaniel he was a rescue someone abandoned him in a trailer park so now he is sooo loyal!! He's not the healthiest boy in the world I think thats why he was abandoned...
What they mean by overbreading is these people who run mills, throwing out dozens of puppies one after another from a mother dog who never gets to set foot out of the cage. Or backyard breeders who do it for the money, and like mills have no real idea what they're doing and only breed for money. If you buy a dog, either get it from shelter or from a well known breeder who will take the dog back if you no longer want it. Shows they care.
omg they are the best dogs and very smart they are just happy all the time my babys they love to take a bath and i just love them so much they are my babys
My Cocker Spaniel is called bubbles and tries to scratch her own scratchy spot when no one else can. she doesn't look anything like the ones here.i wish she WAS 4 treats she is so lazy!
Ive always wondered what kind of cocker spaniel my pup was but she looks a lot like a couple of the ones in this vid. so i guess shes an american cocker spaniel.. a beautiful energetic loving tan puppy
Hey LANDOfAryan keep your opinions to yourself, if spaniels are so ugly, why are you looking at this site. Shut up. Who can take time to type the f word is beyond me. That tells me that u are as stupid as you say your dog is. grow up. People dont lesson to this idiot. i have had over 15 dogs in my lifetime and the spaniel i have now is the most beautiful and intelligent dog i have ever had.

This dogs are so fucking ugly just look at them im being honest good thing my spanial is mixed with a lab its the STUPIDEST DOG EVER... IT BITES ME PEE'S I SUGGEST ANYONE THAT WANTS TO BUY A DOG DONT GET A SPANIAL
This beautiful and playful breed also works well and makes a perfect companion. It is the smallest of the spaniels with shorter legs, back, and muzzle than the English Cocker. The key dog in the history of the breed was a mutant, Red Brucie, who in the 1920's, began the modern American Cocker line.
You must know my English Cocker Spaniel, Nani . She is a biker dog e rides for all Brazil, on motorcycle, using helmet, glasses and jacket. To wach Nani, on youtube, write Nani Negrine on search of youtube.
I had one for 17 years she was a rescue... She was a wonderful dog

I fucking hate most spaniels...
annoying little two faced pee dolls...
They are annoyingly nervous....
they are only loyal to their masters and use everything else for food...
they get... precious syndrome so easily
no companionships to other dogs...
bark at evereything... even after training
straight up crappy dogs compared to real breeds
Theres always exceptions though... you need to be a good trainer and not baby these dogs to produce anything past annoying in my opinion.

I dearly love my dogs but I see now what an odd thing this obsession with keeping a good pedigree line is and I am sad that I didn't just rescue an ordinary mutt from a dog shelter which would be much healthier genetically and not so inbred.
nicdhim 2 years ago

They were angry because they got in trouble for flying their plane over the neighborhood.

sorry to here about ur dog i hope that the people went to jail
trixie29788 2 years ago 2
no, we had no proof they did it because we didn't see it happen. Just one day our dog went missing, but we knew they did it because they said they would if the dog went on their property. anyways, three years later the father who told his sons to kill our dog died of lung cancer and the boy who shot our dog had a kid born with spina bifida so he got what he deserved. too bad for the kid though.

who could shoot a cocker i have one too and she is my baby if anyone ever hurt her i dont know what i would do
trixie29788 2 years ago 25
Yeah, its been over 15 years since I lost him. If I ever see the guy that shot him again I will kill him.

my american cocker is my best friend ever, and I love her like she is my sister or daughter or my own little angel. :)
she's a beauty but she's allergic to all kinds of things, her first years of life were pretty tough, we often had to take her to the vet in the middle of the night, becouse she had violent allergies. THANK GOD we saw each and every such moment, so we could save her. Now her allergies are kinda under control. But we know that anything can happen.
So YES to correct breeding!

cocker spaniels are sooo energetic and full of personality. my dear Sparky lived to be almost 15 yrs old!.. and probably would've gone a few more years strong if it weren't for unfortunate events. i'll never forget his mischievious, yet lovable antics.. truly a great part of the family from day 1.

My Cocker Spaniel's name is Sparky. He's 11. Sometimes I mistake him for a little person. He's such a character!

Not all Cockers are energetic. For example, when I let my dog out in the backyard he just sits on the porch and sunbathes in summer, or begs to be let in wintertime.(Which, by the way is still pretty bearible weather where I live.)
