  • The statement that this man is making is simple, by speaking Spanish, the first indoeuropean language spoken in the region and a fifth essential element in Texan (Tejano) identity, "El Paso", "San Antonio", "Corpus Christi" (Latin actually), names that BTW are terrible pronounce by English speakers, he us saying that Spanish is part of texan history and culture as same as French is part of the history of Canada and Louisiana, and therefore should be cooficial with English.

  • The US is becoming a Bilingual country like Canada, were French and English are both official, better start getting translators in the federal and states senates

  • @cloudbullets Hit and a miss, buddy. First I said I am Mexican American...meaning US citizen and I owe my allegiance to USA. Second, I judge him on him being in my country and not following our proceedings. In other words respect. The problem is you see things through a racist prism and racists suck.

  • FOR REAL ENGLISH IF YOUR ARE HEADING A MAJOR COMMITTEE THEN IT SHOULD BE A RULE THAT you Speak in our countries language as recognized by our governing bodies.

  • The Third World immigrants that come to American and other white countries have no desire to "fit in" with whitey next door...that's why they don't care to speak our languages or assimilate in any form. That is why America, Canada, and the European nations are dotted with Third World ethnic enclaves, and these enclaves are threatening to overflow and wipe out the whites around them.

  • @JTrahanUSA fuck you if you have been in America for 20 years, then speak English plain and simple, so dispense with the 'all languages should be taught" bullshit this isnt a fucking Disney movie this is real life. If you wanna learn a new language go for it, but if you are going to leech off of our govt. then at least speak the fucking language.

  • I bet Mexican goverment officals wouldn't allow anyone to speak English during one of their meetings. The senator isn't a rascist he is just pointing out the obvious which is everyone from police officers to bank tellers all speak English. The guy has spent 20 years in a country that speaks mostly English he shouldve testified in English.

  • Dutch abandons multiculturalism:

A new integration bill, which Dutch Interior Minister Piet Hein Donner presented to parliament on June 16, reads: "The government shares the social dissatisfaction over the multicultural society model and plans to shift priority to the values of the Dutch people. In the new integration system, the values of the Dutch society play a central role. With this change, the government steps away from the model of a multicultural society."

  • @krove congratulations are in order for the Dutch. now the rest of the world needs to follow suit, especially the US.

  • I lived in Mexico for years and never once thought about forcing English-speaking on them. In fact, one of the first things I learned in Mexico is to speak the language where you eat your bread! If they insist on that, then why not speak English here. I learned perfect Spanish in just 2 years, and this idiot cannot yet speak without an accent after 20 years? Give me a break! My husband escaped German communism and started speaking English on the refugee ship. He learned English quickly.

  • @prettycelticwarrior9 dude know your political information before you say anything, it's a bill not a law yet, and it might never be.

  • Sorry but if your not legal GTFO

  • I agree with the senator, if the reverse were true and an American were living in Mexico since 1988 he would be expected to speak Spanish.

  • Sadly when he's up for "Re-Election" Those English speaking Mexican Americans will replace his Old Ass!!!

  • BIGOT MFR!!!!

  • How dare they even show up to speak in the first place.

    ARREST THEM!

Send them home, end of story. Out of control, everything is out of control.

    AMERICAN JOBS FOR AMERICAN WORKERS!!!

Re-claim EVERY American job, if there's any left, we'll call you.

  • The senator was the real asshole here. The man giving his testimony was addressing the committee respectfully, and he gets cut off and insulted without provocation.

  • @guitardedboy you are most definitely a certain kind of "arded".

  • My Italian father grew up bi-lingual. He served in the U.S. Army WWII and landed in Normandy on Omaha beach. He came back having defended our nation and refused to ever speak Italian ever since. He was the first of his family born in the USA and demanded that they let go of the old world and respect the USA.

I have had great difficulty getting full time employment in factories in Quality Departments because I am not bilingual in Spanish here in Southern California.

  • sen. harris has been a legislator in texas since 1985. this is his 14th session. i bet he is familiar with this aguirre character from previous interactions.

  • juarezrt - freedom allows me to dislike a group of people if I so choose.

    Thank goodness for freedom.

When I see latinos voicing concern over the flood of illegals (instead of supporting their crimes) then I'll have some respect for the latino community. Until then, no respect at all.

  • Good for the Senator. The commies want the illegals here so they can get them to vote commie.

If you sit home waiting your turn you deserve to have your gun taken from your cold dead hands.

The Founders didn’t wait for the Brits to knock down their doors. They gathered at the green and stood up like men and they killed government employees all the way back to Boston.

  • The Mexican Revolution was a war in which the middle class and the peasants attempted to overthrow the rule of a tyrannical elitist and fascist dictator.

Can anyone guess which side the US government supported then and still supports using US tax money?

  • ATF Allowed American Weapons to be Sold to Mexican Drug Gangs

Congress is examining a spectacularly flawed ATF operation, in which the agency allowed weapons sold by American gun dealers to make their way into the hands of Mexican drug cartels. The reasoning behind "Operation Fast and Furious" was to prevent law enforcement agents from intercepting gun smugglers, instead waiting to see where these weapons surfaced AND IT FAILED.

Our government sold UNTRACEABLE guns to Mexican drug cartels.

  • It is "insulting" that anyone holding public office is this bigoted and this ignorant.

  • yall are some rasest bi***s yall dont see anyithig with both eyes how about you open youre eyes and see that the mexican popularity is way larger than any other race so yall racest bitc** dont know that without mexicans america would be a piece of shit so if yallwant to kick out they mexicans its like if you wher kicking god out of heaven yall need toquitbeing so racest to all they mexicans

  • @Jordan8aOchoaaustint "the mexican popularity""...LOL......what a dumass mexican comment....LOL

  • @Jordan8aOchoaaustint congratulations, you are the imbecile of the year.

  • THANK YOU SENATOR CHRIS HARRIS!!

  • This is something that seriously pisses me off!

They come here illegally, expect to catored to, feed off the government like parasites, and act like they're the better people like we aren't worth the dirt under their boots!

And it is true that there are many people FROM Mexico and South America that refuse to learn English and have lived here upwards of a few decades! Good Lord people, the Damned terrorists learn english faster! Is that saying something here?

  • @ShinigamiReika the man testifying is "legal" and does know English. Your argument is invalid. Also, you suck.

  • @cparkerBNHR you are entitled to your opinion as I am to mine, I base mine on personal experience. I find it rather rude and disrespectful that he speaks spanish in a courtroom of english speaking people.

Oh, and you can reply to this if you'd like, but I will NOT reply back becuase your comment lacks intelligence. That and I am entirely apathetic to you anyways...

  • @ShinigamiReika

Exactly. I agree completely. I had a retail job once and someone started speaking Spanish, and I was like , "Wait a minute, what? I can't understand what you're saying."

  • @ShinigamiReika The exact same way Anglo-Saxon illegal immigrant settled in Mexico, back stabbed the government that received them and then surrender the entire territory to the Republic of the United States, submitting Spanish speaking Tejanos and Californios to derogatory treatment

  • @ShinigamiReika The exact same way Anglo-Saxon illegal immigrant settled in Mexico, back stabbed the government that received them and then surrender the entire territory to the Republic of the United States, submitting Spanish speaking Tejanos and Californios to derogatory treatment

  • @XxLIVRAxX Hmm, i could care less about race, find it such a poinless bother, racism is just so pointless to me. I do find that given the place and that the language spoken there is English, it would be respectful to speak the same language. You don't go to another country's court system and seak some other language, its just not done!

I counld give a damn less if you were from Mexico or the damn Phiippines, you come here illegally your breaking the law!!! Sheesh!

  • @ShinigamiReika That was exactly what happen to Tejanos, Anglo immigrants settled on northern Mexico, most of them without clear permission of the local government and eventually took Texas for themselves, am sorry, but technically, English speakers were the foreign aliens who invaded Mexico.

  • @ShinigamiReika

I thought they had to take the citizenship test. Isn't that whole thing in English too?

  • America has always been about unity not division! Do you think mexico would allow millions of americans to flood their country with english speakers and give us what are country gives to them I DON"T THINK SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dave18201

Yes, Mexico has the largest American ex patriot community in the world. Do you think they are made to learn Spanish? Do you think they are ridiculed if they only speak English?

  • id rather listen to a translator than sit thru this guys broken english. the thing is he was doing it as a COURTESY to others, what kind of doofus gets insulted by that?

  • Comment removed

  • AmeriKKKa, land of the bigoted and the "free."

  • @KCKwarsick You call America, "AmeriKKKa the land of the bigoted and the free". Our porous border doesn't keep ppl out and it if you don't like it, it will not keep you in. Feel "free" to leave, moron.

  • hahahahahaha Go texas. :)

  • the 14th amendment is being perverted from its' original intent of granting citizenship to the children of african slaves. it is being blatantly ABUSED by those who wish to leech off America. most of the abusers are pregnant mexican pepper bellies who come across the border to poop out an anchor baby at the public's expense, but in addition women from many countries come to America for the same reason. REPEAL THE 14TH AMENDMENT NOW.

  • @amcent2

    You're abusing the same amendment.

Jus soli, its the only way we grant citizenship in this country, and that applies to you as well.

Your comment proves that this really isn't about speaking Spanish, or what the law says about it, or about who is legally recognized as a citizen. This is about your contempt for an entire group of people, and your desire to persecute them.

  • @juarezrt the weeds in the garden that are choking the life out of the creative and productive are going to be pulled out by the roots. I don't expect the weeds to be happy about it.

  • I agree with the Senator, this is insulting and outrageous. Someone should send this to our president as he wants to give them amnesty and make speaking English part of the "deal." These people live here for years and won't be bothered to speak our language either in public or to their children. They should all be sent back to their country as they don't have any respect for the USA or it's language. They are just her for what they can get, which is always more than any of us born her can.

  • WHY would this man think it would be O.K. to come in to a COMMITTEE meeting and use a translator so he could speak SPANISH!!! He has been in AMERICA since 1988, he should have made it a priority to LEARN the ENGLISH language AND BECOME an AMERICAN, NOT just continue to live like he was in his appearently "beloved" MEXICO. If you want to live here in THIS WONDERFUL COUNTRY, BECOME part of AMERICA, learn to read and right in english. DO NOT depend on US to cater to YOU. It was very RUDE. GO HOME!!

  • @dorindamiles Go home to England...you see, we can play that game to, BTW, Canadians and Mexican north americans, therefore the term American is applied to them, we should start using the "Unesian" when refering to a US citizen, It was a 19 century term propose to define a US citizen, I think we should bring it back.

  • Dang, you people need to get your heads out of your asses, seriously.

  • I personally suppor SB 9 becasue the process of becoming a legalized national is not so difficult that it should give any one the right to skip it. It's an insult to people that go threw the hard work, to become legalized citizens. BY the way when those people DO become legalized Citizens one of the requirements is that THEY LEARN ENGLISH!. So yes by all means learn to speak english, and leave your spanish language back at home. 23 years in the us and you don't speak our language? I'm insulted.

  • all non English speaking peoples within the border of the United Stats of America should be checked and you should have to speak English fluently before you are given citizenship! at least 1 of them had enough balls to call it like it is 20 years to learn English and you don't it's not because you can't it's because you don't want too.

  • hippietreehuger - hows that revolution coming? Meeting resistance?

Just another reason for the second ammendment (that's to the US constitution in case you aren't familiar with it).

Bring it on you weak backboned liberal minded anti-patriotic piece of donkey dung.

  • @Jeffjohnson123 Wow, someone really needs to clean that mouth of yours. Jeff, you really shouldn't feel the need to get violent, and don't defend yourself with the second amendment (you spelled it wrong by the way) just because it gives you the right to bear arms.

  • @estefaniagetsmoody I don't recognize your right to tell me what to do and certainly your opinion matters little to me so next time you may want to consider wasting your breath.

  • it would appear that my comments are now being reviewed in real before allowing to post...

  • The Senator should have told him to come back when he can speak English. Then kicked his ass out of the hearing.

    Dave

  • @DarkshadowElite5 You and your grandparents are ignorant SCUM. I'm a grandchild of LEGAL immigrants and almost ALL of them learned English. GO back where you came from. You have no rights and we are going to be working very hard to get you ALL off welfare and out of here.

  • @1971Goldtop You are absolutely correct

  • 1). America has the reputation as the most successful nation in achieving the integration and assimilation of people from diverse nationalities, cultures, languages, and religions. This shaped culturally blended society is reflective of the well-known "melting pot" metaphor. Mexican illegal aliens are raising the temperature of the melting pot to the boiling point of no return.

    Here's the conundrum:

What if tens of millions of Americans illegally invaded Mexico at the rate of 35,000

  • 2). daily; demanded the Mexican government provide free medical care, education and automatic Mexican citizenship for their children; demanded bilingual-English interpreters at all hospitals, courts and institutions; demanded bilingual-Spanish government forms; demanded that Mexico accept American IDs and provided us with sanctuary that ignored our multifarious ways of breaking the law, taking advantage of loopholes that shield us from consequences by inferring that enforcing laws lead to racial

  • 3). profiling and racial hatred toward us for being Americans; demand Mexicans learn English while refusing to learn Spanish; fly our US flag from our homes and cars; demand courses in American culture at schools; demand English language on all packages; demand amnesty for our growing illegal population and threaten Mexicans with our mythical illegitimate vote if they do not comply; demand driver's licenses and in-state college tuition; balkanize their cities and towns; demand that police

  • 4). officers speak to us in English and demand they hire American officers that are culturally appropriate; permit the American government to have 47 consulates in Mexico to subversively aiding and encouraging American illegal aliens to usurp Mexico.

Mexicans would vehemently object and take to the streets to such insulting arrogance, insolence and blatant lawless anarchy.

Why then is this mind-blowing, Third World stupefying logic constantly forced upon American citizens?

  • @fretsward The reason that these acts of WAR are being committed is that US citizens have NO government representation. The US government is almost entirely corrupt, and is the sworn enemy of American CITIZENS. Though this has been true for at least the last 2 decades, it has now reached a point where it can't be tolerated any longer. The current administration has destroyed private sector incentive. Why work when the government will just conspire to confiscate anything you create or produce?

  • @amcent2 - I won't refute anything you've said, although the last 3 administrations are responsible. Infiltrations by La Raza have been the major problem.

Deportation/Removal should not be considered a punishment. It does not deprive the illegal alien of his/her life or liberty. It merely removes them from the US.

Once they are back in their country, they are free to go about their ways...

  • @fretsward You are absolutely correct. Americans aren't really asking for anything but enforcement of laws which are well established and entirely reasonable. Not to mention the fact that America allows more LEGAL immigration than the rest of the world combined.

  • @fretsward Now now now freatsward, lets not confuse the issue with logic! That's just absurd!

  • @ddigwell - Perplexed? Eat with despatch and follow me yarely to mine house...

  • @DarkshadowElite5 By your own words, your grandparents are and were being stubborn. By doing so, they have done themselves and YOU a disservice. They have held themselves and those in their family back by not putting 100% effort into becoming Americans. American English is how the world revolves, not just in the US. So you can take that anti-American rhetoric and well follow your own instructions.

  • @DarkshadowElite5 Actually, you have your facts incorrect. This country is so great because those who come here understand that in order for a country to work, there are somethings that must be assimilated. Language is one of the things that is important for everyone to assimilate. There is nothing wrong with keeping your heritage in the home and teach your children where you "come from". But you are way WAY wrong if you move to any country and expect them to learn YOUR language.

  • @urbanangel954 You are scum (escoria) and wrong. Hispanics account for 81% of the $338.8 billion given to illegal immigrants and you are lying, cheating and job stealing scum. You don't bring anything to our country except a financial drain and you have NO rights. I'm part Cherokee and we want every single one of you off benefits (you don't deserve) and out of here. You should be racially profiled like many other immigrants were who came here and were decent people - you are NOT

  • @DarkshadowElite5 So how many languages should natural born US citizens learn in order to understand speakers of other languages in this "multicultural" nation.

Rational answer: 1, and let everyone who moves to THIS country speak the language of the land. English.

  • I agree with Sen. Harris - it was insulting, and that was probably the point. The f-in ignorant beaner didn't get that, tho. He shouldn't even be there allowed to speak, he doesn't even know how long he's been in the US! LOL

  • You heard him speak passable English. Why didn't he respect our country enough to respect our language?

  • @DarkShadowElite5. Your useless comments provide a prime example of what I said in the first place.

  • DarkshadowElite5. Fine, don't strive for opportunity, let their inability to use the English language keep them segregated. It's that attitude (hispanic arrogance) that will continue to grow the resentment against hispanics in this country.

Our country, our laws. But when those illegals exit the US (by choice or force) they should appologize to everyone along the way as they leave,

  • This guy is example of the problem we now have. If immigrants want to come to this country to live as Americans, assimilate, learn English and work to improve not only themselves but this country, then God bless them - I hope they succeed. This person, whose legal status is uknown, comes to the U.S.,do not learn our language and protest against laws designed to address the illegal imm. problem by eliminating sanctuary cities. This upsets those who favor rule of law over the welfare of illegals,

  • Good point by the Senator. He speaks English. He is in an English speaking country, but he makes the panel listen to his testimony through an interpreter. You don;t win people over to your point by insulting them.

  • juarezrt... you are a perfect example of hispanic racism, arrogance, and ignorance.

US Citizens (which you likely are NOT) take issue with the depth to which hispanics violate our laws.

I like my wife's dogs better than most hispanics, and I don't like my wife's dogs.

  • @Jeffjohnson123

You're just another bigot on an immigration related video.

I do not hate anyone who is different or speaks a different language than me. I only hate individuals who have proven to be hateful, harmful, or abusive. I'm a disabled veteran, so if anything, I've earned the right to call you a bigot. And I only do so because your comments prove you as such.

If YOU hate Hispanics, then YOU are the one with the problem. You should leave.

  • I'm gonna go testify in front of congress in Klingon, then blast any one who doesn't understand why for being obvious racists.

  • @arkivx1

    You should use an interpreter.

  • all leaders should have gotten and walked out of the room until the man spoke American English during a hearing

  • I applaud the Senator it is very insulting to not speak in English when you know how. So many who are bilingual will only speak English if they have to. They feel no obligation to teach others English & will the first to insist on interpreters at the taxpayers expense. Their attitude of entitlement is unbelievable. Stop all ESL classes & all printing in other languages. Stop catering to them. They are not a special class of people, let them realize that & require them to learn English.

  • They should sew his asshole shut and feed his bean eating ass till he explodes.

  • THAT IS SO INSULTING!!! YOU COME THIS COUNTRY EXPECTING US TO CHANGE OUR LAWS TO PROVIDE YOU WITH OUR TAX DOLLARS TO TAKE CARE OF YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!! YOU ARE A SICK BUNCH OF FREE LOADERS!!! SPEAK THE DAMN LANGUAGE OR GO BACK TO YOUR SORRY COUNTRY THAT YOU CAME FROM!! WE DON'T OWE YOU SHIT!!!

  • The Continental Congress voted on the Official Language, a choice between English and German. English was the choice bye a few votes. So, yes we do have an Official Language. Those that say we do not, ignore the decision already voted on. That is why they refer to the Congress, ignoring what was done by the Continental Congress. After twenty plus years, he should be speaking fluent English. He is just being insulting!

    S40

  • I am more ticked off by the senator who allows him to proceed with his testimony in Spanish and considers the other Senator's objection as a "personal point of view". Why would, in the first place, this guy think that it would be appropriate to address the Texas State Senate AS A CITIZEN in Spanish? I know the reason for this. This kind of behavior has been allowed to go on in the name of "political correctness" for too long. And, of course, you give an inch, they'll take a yard!

  • BLADEETY BLAH DITTY BLAH!!!!! SPEAKA DE ENGLISH MO-FO'S!!!!!!

  • It's sick!

  • what a clown..themexican really take americans for what they are ..blind fools....just wait until your town is invaded with this sh*t..then it will be too late

  • He's been here 23 years and still isn't comfortable speaking English, and he represents hispanics in his district? That's not what I would call a convincing representative. If he can't even speak English, we expect the likely less educated, less civic members of his community to do so? Ain't gonna happen! This was stupid on his part and yes, an insult to the entire Senate (well, except for the uber liberal loonies, that is.) They'd have us ALL speaking Spanish and paying him.

  • This why mexicans are beginning to be hated in this country by the blacks as well.

  • love this senator!

  • EZ. Start revoking visas and citizenships for those who have not learned English within 5 years . Without a common language, we have nothing to bond us together.

  • Right the "witness" is trying to make points with illegals.Did anyone bother to learn if he is legal or a naturalized citizen by now ..if he's a naturalized citizento have taken his oath of citizenship he would have had to speak read and write something in English.

ENGLISH should be made the official language of the USA for government and employment offices. I have been outraged to hear that US Citizens are being required to speak English in companies that have hired illegals.

  • This guy is an insulting pig, dissing the U.S.

  • This clown is playing up to his followers, the drunken illegal aliens.

Illegals don't try and learn English, so they wouldn't understand him if he spoke it.

  • You do not come to an offical meeting in the U.S. and push your Spanish speaking B.S. down our throats. He has been here long enough to learn and know our language, so speak it to us, or go the hell home. Just another example of how they use us.

  • If Longshanks were ruling this country, he might declare 'hispanic first nite'. If you want to have sex with an illegal, do it, even without consent, they invaded without consent.

Granted, that's a bit extreme but you get the point. Show respect if you expect respect.

  • What other cuuntry can you go to and not assimilate none check out mexico"s immagrations laws. Were do these people get off,we have a great country, other wise he would:nt have come here the least he could do is learn the language.

  • I lived in Mexico for 6 years and had to learn Spanish to simple live day to day. There was no English spoken in Tepic and it was simple learn or starve. I learned Spanish.

  • @rogerguiles

Would you have addressed the Nayarit congress without the use of an interpreter?

  • He came in 1988 after the 1986 Amnesty that was suppose to cure the i illegal alien problem and secure the border! He should move to a country where he can speak his language!

  • Of course they think we should learn Spanish and we will have to soon as most jobs now require it. Obama said this to a Hispanic audience "Why are you telling them to learn English, why don't you learn Spanish?" This is just all part of the plan.

  • In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American...

  • @krove

    A Native American?

  • You have got to be FKN kidding me !!!!!!!! Take yourself and your FKN language back to mexico. You Insult ALL AMERICAN CITIZENS by bringing this B.S to a SENATE HEARING!!!! He's been here for two decades and still does not know how to read and write In ENGLISH !!!!!! We are going third world fast ...... DEPORT ALL ILLEGALS NOW !!!!!!!!!

  • @jbills2007 Why should he learn to speak English when we Americans constantly placate him and his cohorts. I'm a Danish naturalized citizen, and in order to receive my naturalization papers I HAD to speak English and I to provide proof as to how I was going to support myself. What the H... is wrong with ICE and our Immigration system. It's disgraceful.

  • @Dansker1931 Well said. The reason hispanics aren't held to the proper legal standard is simple corruption.Employers want employees who are extremely compliant. Employees who know they can be deported if they displease the boss in even the slightest manner tend to be extremely co-operative. Also the pay in the US can easily be ten times higher than what they would get in their home countries. It's a system which rewards criminals and punishes the law-abiding, making a mockery of the rule of law.

  • since 1730 when the 1st public school was built ENGLISH has been taught.

wasn't it Teddy Roosevelt who said that immigrants should learn and use English within 5 yrs or leave? EVERY other immigrant that comes to this country learns English.

off topic; calling ILLEGAL ALIENS,undocumented workers is like saying that a bank robber didn't rob the bank, he made an unauthorized withdrawal.

  • @bortloffsr

I like your idea! We will start schools in Spanish so that 280 years later it will be the accepted language, no matter what was spoken here before. Kind of how the native americans had their language but the colonists insisted on using their own.

And who cares what Teddy said. That isn't law.

  • China doesn't have to put up with this nonsense of Mexicans invading our country, won't speak our language. I came from Poland Europe and if we didn't speak English the nuns would beat us, and if "they" didn't beat us, our parents would for having such rudeness, defiance, arrogance and supremacy over the USA which was kind enough to give us citizenship and work. Tell these defiant, dangerous, drug dealing Mexicans to go back to Mexico & treat their government like that.

  • Anyone who is in favor of those who Illegally cross our borders should be considered terrorists. That is an illegal invasion of our country, period. Immigration is a legal process, just as in every other country. Use the Legal process and stop complaining.

  • @1macy69

Anyone who is a xenophobe is a terrorist.

  • @juarezrt any one who is a xenophile is a terrorist.

  • @arkivx1 A xenophile? LOL!

  • @juarezrt Anyone who breaks the law to enter the country is a criminal.

  • @1macy69

Agreed. But the man in this video, and millions of other Spanish speakers are NOT here illegally. Some of us were even born here!

  • @juarezrt Unless they've changed the rules, a legal immigrant used to agree to learn English as part of the immigration process, so legal immigrants should be speaking English after 20+ years per the rules. lol @ xenophobe and other name calling to avoid the real issue of people not wanting to following the laws!

  • I think he is trying to make a statement by using Spanish. However, if he is speaking to English speaking Senators, he should speak in their language. I agree, if he is reading his testimony, he could have done it in English.

  • I am a proud American. English is my first language. But, while in college I took several Spanish classes. When I had to prepare a speech in Spanish, I wrote my speech in Spanish then read it to the class, in Spanish. This guy is reading his speech. He could have spent a little extra time preparing it in English just like I took the time to prepare my college paper in Spanish. I agree with the senator from Texas.

  • He thinks you should learn Spanish.

  • Maybe they should let this a-hole speak spanish, but NOT allow an interpretor to repeat his remarks on English. Just sayin'

  • I'm not certain why more illegals aren't detained. They are terrorists. They violated US law and carry a weapon of mass distruction (their minds, though some apparently don't use them fully).

If the human landscape of this country (my country) is changed legally, that's something we must accept, but to disrepectfully change it via illegal acts (not just immigration violation, but through voter fraud), that's reprehensible.

  • Good for that senator to have the guts to stand up for America. Finally someone has the balls to stand up for the American people who have had enough of these disprespectfull scumbags sneaking into our country.

  • Wow comments are crazy!!! I feel that this man is entitled to speak in whatever language he feels comfortable with and if he has an interpreter why not? The senator's obvious mission is to intimidate him. For those writing "speaking mexican" like really? You are suppose to be educated. As i remember this country is a melting pot. I see different people everywhere if you are educated and speak english you should know that there is no such thing as "mexican language" its spanish.

  • @Bedolla24 , If you studied Spanish as spoken is Spain you would know that what Mexicans speak could be compared to the "ebonics" that black Americans speak. It isn't the real language. It is Mexican nor Spanish. There are 7 naturalized citizens in my family and none of them would think of speaking anything but what fellow Americans speak.

  • @tgjguitar

Obviously, you know nothing about the Spanish language. Look up Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española. Spanish from Spain is not the only version that is recognized.

  • @Bedolla24 that guy has been her for then twenty years. If you were in Mexico for twenty years and did not speak Spanish they will discriminate you and would sent you back to texas. Actually I am latin and I know what they want.

  • As far as I'm concerned, most hispanics are racists.

He likely isn't fluent in English after 20+ years because a majority of his friends are hispanic. Certainly most of the support for illegals comes from hispanics (legal or otherwise)

There are several places in the US that have tried to assimilate the locale into a hispanic foothold in the US.

  • Speak english get the heck out!

  • He'd been in this country since 1988 and apparently made no effort to learn English!

  • @cvresorts

    This a-hole also thinks 2011 minus 1988 = 20 - go figure

  • @cvresorts Did you not see the video? He did learn English but felt more comfortable expressing himself in Spanish. That's his prerogative. It's a free country. He can speak in whatever language he's most comfortable.

  • @marym27 That's the problem with this country. Accommodate all at the cost to others who don't see things your liberal way. Where do we stop? Shall we import translators for rare Eskimo languages as well? Do YOU agree with paying millions for translation of all things government into X number of languages. Get your head out of the clouds-- we can't continue to mother the world without bankrupting ourselves. Wake up!

  • @veefern Calm down. This man didn't ask you to import a translator for him. Translators are not bankrupting our country. It's a ridiculous argument. What is bankrupting our country are two unfunded wars and an insistance on cutting taxes to reward the rich who back the candidates who run the country.

  • @marym27

Well, if YOU were in his origin country of Mexico, would you insist in speaking English even though you knew how to speak some Spanish after being in Mexico for 22 yrs, but preferred to speak in your native tongue??? How is is ok with you??. You come to this country where we tolerate everyone's perference, like letting Arabs speak their language even though they hate us and forcing us to accept their Sharia law; now you are ok with his defense of his language? You are an idiot

  • @Veronika1356 The beauty of our country is that we are like no other. Why should we adopt other countries' worst practices? We are better than that. And stop spreading the Sharia law myth. Our system of justice is too strong to be uprooted by Sharia law. Ridiculous!

  • @marym27 Oh, fine! Why don't we let just anyone communicate in whatever language is "comfortable". Maybe we should let Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Cambodian, Laotian, etc. immigrants speak in their native languages when addressing senate commitees? What audacity! There used to be a time when America was considered "the melting pot", because immigrants assimilated after coming here. I guess that's too much to expect anymore.

  • @a4b6c10 Please read up on your history. Assimilation has always been gradual. The U.S. has from its inception accommodated immigrants' languages. Some cities in the U.S. conducted government business in German through the 1940s. So having a man testify in Spanish seems like a minor accommodation in comparison.

  • @marym27 If in fact true, that was the 1940s and this is 2011. It took them 10 years to learn English. This guy has been here for 22 years and actually does speak English. Also, that was conducting business. This was giving testimony before the Texas Senate. He could have read from a text even better than he might ordinarily speak. Out of arrogance he chose to address the Texas Senate in Spanish. Actually, I believe the English text was right in front of the translator. continued

  • @marym27 This guy, instead of bringing excuses that he he more comfortable speaking Spanish, he could have taken the English text from the translator and read from that instead. I'm upset at the other Senator who interfered and allowed him to continue! This has nothing to do with race, immigration, or anything else. The guy has been here for 22 years and knows English. Why does he not want to speak it? Because he has an agenda to promote.

  • @marym27 ARE YOU KIDDING ME? You DO NOT come into a Senate meeting in the U.S. and speak a foreign language! If that idiot could not speak fiuent English after 23 yrs. in this country then he's too damned dumb to do anything else worthwhile in this country! Get all the damned illegals out of our country NOW!

  • Don't enough of my taxes go to help the needy who are already here and are citizens of the US? Why are they encouraging more of the needy to migrate here? We have immigration laws for a reason. NOT enforcing the law proves we have leaders who are wanting to degrade our middle class which are already burdened by immigrants encouraged to migrate here for jobs, which our tax money subsidizes.
