Great fight, but Gomi's actions are unexcusable...I've always liked him as a fighter but he showed poor sportsmanship here. So everytime I watch Nick Diaz choking him out it just feels good...

He was taking such an ass whooping up until the end that he felt he needed a few more unanswered hits after stoppage to attempt to even it out more. Plus what was said about Chute Boxe feuding with him at the time over him destroying Ralph Gracie (was 6-0 at the time) a year earlier. Ralph hasn't fought since that loss, must have taken it hard. Gomi got the Fastest knockout in Pride FC history for that win, starting with a flying knee, then consecutive knees to finish Ralph Gracie at 0:06 of R1.

No there was a big lead up into the fight. Chute Boxe and Gomi have a well documented history in Pride. This was a grudge match for both guys. Gomi walked through pretty much every Azeredo hit him with and frustrated, landed the fight ending combination shutting their mouth.

Gomi explained after the fight that he was really mad of beeing hit like that; he had never been hit like that before, and so it made him quite furious.

The other reason, wich is connected, is that Luiz was, in a way, ahead in all the beginning of the fight, so Gomi wanted to stop him hardly.

That's the explanation I can give.
