  • Decent bloke is Jim, does alot for good causes like supporting our troops at home and abroad and with RNLI; unlike other so called comedians and entertainers.

  • @TheMrmcd

You can be very proud of your Grandad.

  • @TheMrmcd . So sorry to hear of your grandads passing. I hope you got to play this video at his funeral. A dear friend of mine is also appearing and singing, Robert Brownsell. Been looking for this for ages. Great to finally experience it. A proud moment for them all.

  • Thx for such a touching song. I myself work as a volunteer in the Norwegian Redningsselskapet. So I know what these men do and sing about. So for every other rescue men and women out there, working all year round. Keep up the good work. And to all others, don't hesitate to support us.

  • richard william davies 5th may 2010, r.i.p grandad<3

  • i find it quite fitting that this song was accompanied by the caister lifeboat men, and it kinda tell a story of the disaster that happened to the them on the 13 November 1901 where the crew of the beauchamp (caister lifeboat) answered a distress flare but unfortunately as the sea were very heavy it took a number of attempts to launch, however when they did launch they didnt get very far because the lifeboat capsized, tragically 9 men lost their lives on that night.

  • @rayzorgreen Thank you kindly for your very interesting informations which make this performance even more touching.

  • God Bless Jim Davidson for this song and his support for THe Life Boats

  • this song gives me goosebumps its so emotional and jim sings it with alot of feeling.

  • My dad Phil wrote this song because of losing his brother to the sea in a place where there were no lifeboats. He started to help the RNLI so money could be raised to build more lifeboat stations in IRL and the UK. The men & woman of the RNLI are incredible for what they do for people & I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with many of them. As CAPTAINTJM said... "get a life" the RNLI are the real heros and you should remember that!

  • @twinkletoesIRL Thank you for your heartwarming informations. GOD bless you!

  • @twinkletoesIRL i liked your dad once until he let himself down when he smashed some poor sods guitar on rte television. you tell him from me that he is a pompous twat......thankyou

  • @38jonda thanks for writing this... I cant believe I have found someone that believed that stunt was real HAHAHA.... your talking about an ENTERTAINMENT tv show which I was working on too. The production crew came up with this stunt for entertainment so it was my dads job to do that... the guitar that was smashed was NOT the boys guitar it was a copy.....the boys reaction was the only real thing about that! Do you believe every stunt/audition on "The X Factor/American Idol" etc is real??

  • @twinkletoesIRL Phil as in Coulter?

  • @twinkletoesIRL Phil as in Phil Coulter? I recently saw Celtic Thinder and they did an awesome rendition of this. Phil Coulter is an amazing composer.

  • @twinkletoesIRL and dont forget the independent lifeboats aswell thay all do the same job as the R.N.L.I

  • @twinkletoesIRL and dont forget the independent lifeboats aswell thay all do the same job as the R.N.L.I

  • Tribute to the good voulenterrs who risk theirl ives to help

  • I always thought that this song was written by Phil Coulter.

  • he has such a lovely voice

  • They do a fantastic job and wot a lovely song x

  • a slice of history back then was commonplace but today such heroism hard to find

  • The original of this song i am told on very good authority was wrote by a guy in Hartlepool.

I have a copy of the original song which was song by some of the crew of the hartlepool lifeboat, following a capsise while on service to a vessal in distress.

  • @131RESCUE

I was under the impression that this song was written by Phil Coulter...maybe not.

  • @martyeds it was. about losing his brother to the sea

  • Thanks for post this,i bought it on cassette many moons ago and have been looking on here for ages. Thanks again

  • Good old Cromer RNLI & Caister Independent, you do a fantastic job..

  • Semper Paratus

  • A one who went sea for years in the Gulf of Alasks and the Bering Sea this song rates a 10+

Nice to know someone will come to our assistance if needed. On our end it is the USCG.

  • ratflinger 3 you may need their services yourself one day, and you will be glad they are there.

  • ihatewannabe1 you are talking about the Penlee Lifeboat disaster of December 19 1981 when the 8 Lifeboat crew gave their lives

  • When ever i hear this song, i awalys think of the lifeboat crews who lost their life, in i think the cornwell or devon area. it was around christmas one year. but to me this song is lkike atribute to all out lifeboat men and woman.

  • Cromer = RNLI

    Caister = Independent

difference = NONE all brave men

  • These blokes look like they were just released from one of Her Majesty's fine prisons.

  • i remember watching this on tele. great song, i love it when they lift the curtain and all sing

  • I support the RNLI in every way I can and I hope after my uni course to be able to join the crew of the falmouth RNLI

  • my life was saved by an off duty lifeboat man when i was 5 years old on holiday at southsea. i will never forget and god bless them all. please help the RNLI.

  • retained fire crews, mountain & cave rescue, then theres first responders. within the community there are lots of volunteers, but the lifeboat personel do stand there or there abouts at the top

  • God Bless you Jim and the brave life boat crews .... get a life all of you pollitical correctness bastards

  • nice one jimmy boy! u do us all proud 2 show u r not the stereotypical you in which people think u are 24/7! nice 1 jim!

  • God bless the RNLI. I don't think the goverment should have anything to do with funding our lifboats; they would wreck it like they do everything else they get their hands on.

  • ummm. This song was written by an Irish man. Phil Coulter

  • Very true! If memory serves right, he wrote it after loosing his brother in a boating(?) accident.

It's good that such a tragic happening can be the inspiration for such a fantastic song.

  • its about time the goverment gives money to the lifeboat people

  • Nice to see a celeb act for a good cause well done jim

  • good old jim davidson he does alot for good causes

  • as an ex member of the Royal Navy - this song is a fitting trubite to everyone whose serves with the lifeboats.. bless them all
