the dual pipe actually added power, because the stock pipe was designed by fmf, the bikes midrange and low end power was increased

how is that skid plate, ive heard some pretty bad things about them.

This is an excellent skid plate. I have had no issues with it, and would definitly recommend it. It comes with foam that goes between the plate and engine, which I removed, which makes it easier to clean. I don't ride in muddy conditions so I don't need it. Its a good plate.

I'm new to dirt bikes, but why would the crf250r have less airflow than a crf250x?  Aren't the cooling systems and frames identical?

The main differences are the X weighs 26lbs more, has a lighter suspension, internal fork components(front suspension) set up for less rebound-softer ride- the frames are the same- the swingarm on the X is off the CR125, depending on the year you're looking at, the X engine has the same basic set-up=as the R, the X is tuned by the exhaust which is much more subtle than the R. In all, the X is a really strong trail bike that you can ride on the MX track successfully, just not as strong as The R

250 four strokes kick ass i have an 04 crf 250 and it hauls ass they have plenty of power that you would ever need they're also more predictable than 2 strokes and actually arent that expensive if you get one used check craigslist you can get a good used yz250f for around 1500 if you really look

Yes, a lot of people ask this question. The left hand exhaust opening is larger then the right side. This is to ensure even air flow out both sides since the flow path to the left side is longer than to the right side, so the extra resistance on created by the smaller opening forces more air to the other side to compensate.
