How were they the good old days?? Yeah children got forced up chimneys and had to work down coal mines. Good old days my arse. Just because we've got computers and mobile phones doesn't mean these days are crap. I think the 1800s were a crap time to live in.
It looks nice but I would not want to live in that time. I don't know why anyone would. Child labour was common as was abuse, horse crap everywhere, medical advances were nowhere near as good etc. I'm grateful for what we have now and since we have cars we can get to places quicker. I would have not wanted to live any earlier than the 1900s. 1905 was when everything started brightening up.
@boffinme80 Brightening? Brightening as in the soon to happen panic/depression in 1907, and a little later the steady build up to an horrendous war! If that's bright, I hope the current currency problems don't develop into something THAT sort of bright!
@kafcan I bet there were people of all shapes an sizes then. It's not as if the quality of this film is sufficient to get a good look at people anyway.
@kafcan The only obesity would have been of well to do "fat cats," routinely enjoying ten-course meals prepared by others, and who locomoted by carriage and "exercised" by strolling through croquet. The masses (as in this film) walked most places, ex. long distance. And in an era pre-refrigerator (and icebox?) could not buy or keep frozen food or leftovers. Just small portions, to eat while fresh.
A look back to the good old days
A look forward to the bad new days
Which is it good or bad these days????????????

Anyone who has studied British history knows that this was a fucked up, troubled time. Might look nice, but shit was going down, and for everyone.
