@usernameemanresu@aknowneemus And the award for the most pointless youtube comments section argument goes to: @usernameemanresu@aknowneemus for their "my band is better than your band" argument! OK fellas, now for your acceptance speech! :o)
@TheBradyarnold Did you not see my last comment?: "I wasn't saying 10cc are better than Queen"
My intention was never to say "My band is better than your band". My original comment was to correct somebody who said 10cc were heavily influenced by Queen and copied their recording techniques.
where is the rest of the band?? dont forget the beach boys influence-like walking in the rain, etc harmonies are definitely derived from the bb's harmonies and lilting tempo.
This song haunts me so much......I will be driving along,,and for no reason,,,,,,,start singing.......Like walking in the rain and the snow...............Awesome tune
I remember reading about this at the time it came out how complex it was to produce with all the overdubs they had to do because they simply didn't have the equipemtn artists just take for granted today. Godley and Creme were in the same league as the Beach Boys with Pets sounds. They were the true pioneers.
Just how is this recorded and posted on here? There are lines through it at times like it's a bad video... I just feel fortunate to even see this. Was looking for the actual band performing this and finally found this. Anyone know where you can get a good copy of this?
I do not want anyone to get mad but spectacular in the movie is a similar version of this song but I personally liked the spectacular film version of this version sucks
The band 10cc was named after the amount of ejaculate the average man produces each year. Despite their deviant name, they certainly produced fantastic music... very little music of that calibre is produced these days.
These guys were the originals. Graham Gouldman on bass - look who wrote the greatest hits for Hermas Hermits & The Hollies - then Eric Stewart on piano in this one but normally guitar - The Mindbenders.... if you don't underatnd.... never mind!
Godly and Creme were genius...while I see the Queen argument...I see how Bowie and Rundgren could be valid too....Damn shame music had to change into the crap it is now...Id support a band that played songs like 10cc again.
Here's something I remember about 10cc. When I first heard them the song at the time was "I'm not in love" I though it was Wings. The reason being because it sounded like Wings & I though that was something they would have done. Strange isn't it?
10cc were individually big back in the 60's, when the future Queen members were still learning how to tie their shoelaces. 10cc and Sparks were the cleverest bands of the 70's.
. I noticed something VERY rare amongst rock drummers. He's actually holding the stick correctly in the left hand. I studied drumming for a few years in high school and watched how REAL professional drummers play. The way MOST "professional" drummers play is incorrect!!! Take a good look at how THIS guy is holding the stick. To most people this is a bit of trivia that certainly isn't Earth shattering in anyway, but it's nice to see a professional actually performing professionally!!!
@blacksheep3703 if you're getting paid to play drums in a decent rock band, you can hold the stick anyway you want to. To hell with conventions of stick-holding, I say!
Lovely song and lyrics! I thought Paul McCartney & Wings sang this but I was wrong. Seeing this and other songs, I now appreciate 10cc more than I did before, especially that I now understand that they wrote and performed all their songs themselves.
10cc are the best! seen them a few years ago in oz and they were brilliant, i grew up listening to them and will never stop! alot of the music you grow up listening to thru your parents you hide from, not this!
This was the first 45 I bought. I learned quite a bit from these guys musically. There was no autotune back then. The backing vocals were done with nothing more than limiters and compressors, maybe some analog chorus effects. Damn impressive. These guys could actually sing and play fo reel!
wow good to see there is still an appreciation for this kind of thing. If this song were out today it would be considered not tough or hardcore enough.
Not true. There are plenty of good live TV performances from the 60's & 70's that have been preserved on video and they're all over YouTube. All the US networks here and most networks worldwide had the capability to broadcast live and record it in decent quality for its day. Your claim that the technology wasn't readily available and widespread is simply not true.
It proves that the 10cc sound wasn't influenced by Queen and that if any Queen song sounds a bit like a 10cc song,it's because Queen were influenced by 10cc.
Godley and Creme wanted to do a 'concept' album of their own and develop the gizmo (a guitar device).
I think they split because of the writing teams _ Stewart and Goldman were the hit makers, Godley and Creme had the wit and humor of 10cc. The first four albums of 10cc's are a must for any 70's music fan, and the thing is, they STILL dont sound dated.
I couldn't agree more Neil, those albums are totally timeless. I am too young to remember them from the time, but other bands of the time sound incredibly dated in comparison. It is an injustice that 10cc have never received the recognition that they deserve.
My favourite band ever. Sorry, but Queen wasn't ever close to these guys. True supergroup of total writing, playing and recording talent.

@aknowneemus I wasn't saying 10cc are better than Queen, I was just stating a few facts and correcting some misinformation.
As it happens, I do prefer 10cc to Queen but it's a personal taste thing and I would never slaughter anyone who says they like Queen more.

@whiskyjoe2 In the 70s the medical text read 9cc ... hence the band's name 10CC. It's still pretty funny.

Obviously HEAVILY influenced by queen. Even the production uses the same recording techniques that queen used
blurgenizer55 2 years ago
No,it's the other way around,if anything.
The guys in 10cc were in the music business before anyone in Queen and they were pioneering producers before Queen became famous.
Queen actually supported 10cc in the early days and it's been suggested that Bohemian Rhapsody was influenced by 10cc's One Night in Paris.
