If you are making a striped scarf and you are carrying your yarn up the side, would you still slip the first stich? How would that work?

Why slip the first stich? Im a new knitter and not sure the purpose of that

@gambrell104 It makes a better looking edge if you slip the 1st Knit or Purl stitch.

are those 16" circular needles or 29" and what kind of yarn is that?

@sydneyanddana2 sorry I meant 29.  the yarn is 3 yarns I found in my stash that I though worked well together. they are all wool of different weights.

I,m using 10, but you need to use what ever size is right for your project.
