I was trying to find a version of this song to play for a person who had never heard it and came across this video. I was floored because I was at this show. It was the night after a ridiculous storm blew through the area. The postponement created a conflict with scheduling at the Corestates Center, so they moved it to the smaller Spectrum. It was electric, intimate, and ranks as one of the best shows I've ever attended. When he played this the joint went absolutely nuts. Thanks for posting.
@CaptStevieB82 Man you are so right. There was the remains of a hurricane came thru Philly and it was a mess, but this show rocked. Bruce always pulls out cool stuff in Philly.
He played it on again in Philly on 4-29-09 because someone held up a sign and Fire too! His mom was at the show and he made her sing HUNGRY HEART with the audience!
Search Bruce 2009 In Philadelphia and there all there, including a killer version of LONDON CALLING someone through a sign up on the stage saying
"Did It Stump The E Street?
Its really something to see and was glad I was there both nights!
actually - on a showduring his devils and dust tour he played it and said it was one of those annoying fan favorites. Now so is born to run, badlands, and the like, yet he always plays those. So I'd think he probably does dislike it to an extent; or another possibility is that he knows its a staple for Southside Johnny since he gave it to him (same as hearts of stone), and leaves it alone. Also during that same show at the end of the fever he said, this is for southisde, wherever you are

C'mon Bruce wouldn't make this one. He has dedicated it for Southside Johnny. And Johnny makes it better.

He should do it more often. I bet if someone held a sign, I would imagine he'd gladly play it.

That's what I plan on doing May 12th in Chicago. If I could have any song played, it would be this one. Wish me luck fellow Bruce fans.

This is a Philadelphia Classic and Bruce has performed this song in Philly more than any other city!.
I can remember this playing on the philly stations
during the the 70's even now when I do listen to the radio. Which is not very often...because the music that is on the radio is shit!

Damn I wish Bruce would make an album featuring music like this. He's at his best when he's bluesy. This song is ancient but it's still hot!
Thanks for posting this!!!

That's one of my favorite things about Bruce is his love and respect for the blues, gospel and r&b. You can hear it all through his music.
