I own guinea pigs and love them very much, but it's not absurd for someone to have passion for snakes. Sometimes owners give their live or dead animals based on personal opinion of what is best for them.It does not mean they enjoy the small animal dying, and sometimes means that person is mature enough to realize that there is a food chain. Rodents, being pray animals, have the unique ability of going into shock when they are being constricted so no suffering is taking place.

I certianly don't prefer it feeding live mice as I am a huge animal lover but I don't want the snakes to die or get sick because of my personal preferences. I didn't know it was called snorgling--cute! We always called the behavior hair chewing, and now that I give my guinea pigs a complete mineral supplement (aka salt block), they stopped the hair chewing. They are like us, in that pure salt or no salt is bad, but a sea salt with all the minerals in the sea gives them what they are looking for. I buy the large brown salt blocks for horses and goats at my local feed store. Also, they have free access to fresh timothy hay.

i dont know, i bought them both from a petshop and it turns out pip was pregnant too! she had 4 babies 2 girls 2 boys. The boys are called- truffles, treacle(he is black) and fudge. The girls- Cherry(pogo's albino), ruby (pip's albino) and Tinker (my favroute one who is a little tinker and keeps nearly getting herself stuck, 1st time it was my cabinet and the next time she nearly ended up under my bed! she does it by pretending she's asleep and suddenly wakes up :L)

There are actually quite a lot of guinea pigs in rescues/shelters around The Netherlands.

The rescue I got Porky from (t'kuufke) takes in about 250-300 a year, & that's just one of the many. Stichting Cavia also has several in their locations around The Netherlands. Unfortunately, it's a growing problem. :(
