This game is everything a game should be! the ending sequence of events builds up perfectly and is the best ending and most clever i've seen for a while. This ending actually was bittersweet for me because it represented freedom but i almost missed being down there. not knowing if our character will ever go down there, where she will go, or if anyone will ever know about the test chambers left perfect room for a sequel! hopes up!!

@Bleumange If you think about it, Portal 2 was kind of like the first game in terms of story, as Portal 1 was basically a hour long tutorial. That way, it kind of makes sense not very many characters are expanded, as they've still got to explain why a lot of the characters are actually there. That said, the storyline could of been better, and the fact that all progress GLaDOS made gets erased (possibly), so thus nobody got development could of been better, true.
@Prestoniae Even if they do so in the comics it won't exactly be the same experience. They just didn't give them enough depth to have any real impact or significance in/on the story, and they most likely (along with pretty much everything that happened in both games) won't be mentioned again. Unless of course episode 3 is a complete pisstake with Glados being corrupted by a combine advisor. It doesn't even serve as sufficient backstory for the gravity gun and the borealis.

Ratman is sprinting through a Non-Functional Aparratas tube. If everything goes as planned, he and his cube will finally get out. He then hears turrets singing. HE sighs in relief, then sprints through the tube. He was getting out TODAY. HE keeps running, And finally finding two tubes, unsure of which one to take, he takes on, and his cube takes the other. They now need to split. Their friendship is over. Cube goes to Chell. Ratman Gets out in the ruins of City 17. He is starting over.
the best thing about portal 2, is that i really feel like it lived up to all the hype it was getting. valve canned their previous marketers and did the ads all by themselves, and they were awesome. they made new puzzles, and they were awesome. they made some of the best and most memorable characters of all time, and they were awesome. overall, the game was just awesome. the only bone i had to pick was making wheatley evil and then sending him to the moon, but even that was genius.
@Exarian Wheatley was overtaken by the desire to test and control that was built into the programming of whatever was controlling the system. This design led Glados to release the nerve toxin to take control of the compound. As soon as Wheatley was separated from the system he reverted to his previous attitude and showed deep remorse for his actions even though they were in some ways out of his control.
@bdsterne1 He had power and he didn't know what to do with it other than the basest of things that came with it. He new he had to test but he didn't know how to build proper test chambers. He knew he had to keep the place together, but he didn't know how to keep it from blowing up. In his panic and delusion he assumed killing you would make the whole situation easier for him to sort out.
It's like watching a drunk guy trying to stamp out a fite.

play portal 1 then portal 2. Portal 1 had much, much better humor. Portal 2 was more about a plot. If this song was longer it could have rivaled still alive, but its a shame its only 1 min long.

However, due to the creation of Glados after his death, Chell was orphaned and given to one of the higher-up scientists (Perhaps Rat Man) and kept close to the facility. (Remember the Bring your Daughter to work day? The giant potato was Chell's entry.) At the end of Portal 2, Glados tries to delete Caroline, but fails. Instead, she's split into all the other computers. Hence, the turrets keep her and sing this song instead of killing her!

@TheCheeseTouch Oh yeah, there's the elusive F-Stop project that was going to be Portal 2. It was supposed to take place before the original and there were no portals involved. It came to a halt when they started working on Portal 2 and nobody's heard of it since.
Call me pessimistic, but I think it would have been better if it cut to black as the turrets zeroed in on you, then before the credits you hear them firing.

I was baffled at this game. This was just perfection, multiplied. The ending just struck me with awe and amazement. The dialogue was funny and you learned a lot about glados when she was a potato. There was so much connection to the characters. Best game of the year, if not all time.

play portal 1 then portal 2. Portal 1 had much, much better humor. Portal 2 was more about a plot. If this song was longer it could have rivaled still alive, but its a shame its only 1 min long.

@Vinetio Moreover, Cave Johnson is the father. However, due to the creation of Glados after his death, Chell was orphaned and given to one of the higher-up scientists (Perhaps Rat Man) and kept close to the facility. (Remember the Bring your Daughter to work day? The giant potato was Chell's entry.) At the end of Portal 2, Glados tries to delete Caroline, but fails. Instead, she's split into all the other computers. Hence, the turrets keep her and sing this song instead of killing her!

Then all those feelings were replaced with laughter when the Companion Cube is dumped outside. XD Ellen McLain must have been in her element for this song.

@TheCheeseTouch Oh yeah, there's the elusive F-Stop project that was going to be Portal 2. It was supposed to take place before the original and there were no portals involved. It came to a halt when they started working on Portal 2 and nobody's heard of it since.

Call me pessimistic, but I think it would have been better if it cut to black as the turrets zeroed in on you, then before the credits you hear them firing.
But that's just me, this ending is good to.

I was baffled at this game. This was just perfection, multiplied. The ending just struck me with awe and amazement. The dialogue was funny and you learned a lot about glados when she was a potato. There was so much connection to the characters. Best game of the year, if not all time.
