  • Best Content and Best idea, Thank a lot.

  • This song suits me back in 1947 when I met my future wife, Vera. We married and I had 52 wnderful years together.

  • this is best song I think I've heard by tommy dorsey and frank sinatra

  • this song is catchy

  • Sy Oliver was such a great arranger. Love his arrangement and singing on "Yes Indeed."

  • Jo Stafford<3

  • Many thanks for brilliant work with pix!

  • Great song all the way around.

  • as a 19 year old, i can honestly say i love this song

  • The greatest. Smooth Sinatra & fabulous Dorsey band & Connie Haines & sweet blend of Pied Pipers. This tune is a classic, happy, sing-along. Joe Bushkin wrote a real winner here.

  • Magic rare piece

  • Doesn't Jo Stafford's voice just sound beautiful in the Pied Pipers accompaniment? She was just such a special talent.

  • They don't have music of that talent these day's, and I'm 23! I can literally hear this coming from my PipBoy 3000 =)

  • i am da messiah..

  • 1941? Strange it has the emotion of a song of much earlier times, say the 30s. Is anyone of the same emotion? Please give me a strong kick in the you know what if I'm off. Great sound, evocative of a good period in American music.

  • Long live the 430Th TFW.

  • I was born too late, i LOVE this music, I mean Dorsey and Sinatra.......and Connie was wonderful too! Thanks for posting this, it made me feel great.

  • What an amazing song and what a performance! I love music from the 40s and 50s (though my girlfriend hates it "too corny") and grew up listening to Frankie. Now I play him all the time. I had a flatmate from India for 6 months and he became a Sinatra fan! Let him download my collection. I particularly love duets and backup singers - and Haines and the Pied Pipers are amazing on this one! Thanks!

  • Hey, it's great to hear young folks beginning to appreciate the fantastic talent those singers and musicians had . . if only I was back in the 40's again ! a wonderful era.

Don' let the music fade away guys and girls - and thanks for the post.

  • It's true that you don't have to be old to enjoy this music. I'm almost 16 and Frank Sinatra is my favorite singer. I have this same recording on one of my six CDs.

  • Muito bom ! Embora não nascido na época destas maravilhosas músicas, ouvi-las é uma agradável viagem a um glamuroso passado

  • Yes sir! I definately agree! Im seventeen and have been listening to all of this since I was like two. Music is my life and these songs are my inspiration. Actually Doris Day is my idol lol I love her! Tommy Dorsey Band is right up there along with frank sinatra. UAAHHHHH HOW II WISH I COULD HAVE LIVED IN THOSE TIMES!!! The stuff to day is all electronic and fake, so I play these "oldies" nonstop. Thanks for posting this! It's amazing! :)

  • @Starringjess You are a wonder! I love Doris Day too, all those forgotten singers from the 40s and 50s were such talents with such beautiful voices. Youngsters like you give me hope!

  • Wow! That's really good! I showed some of my friends at school this vid, they loved it! They just find it uncool to listen to the same stuff old people listen to, but they all love it.

  • ಠ_ಠ

  • and what an era!

  • @ TheJazzpro Cool, let's date. haha I kid, I kid

  • Thanks so much, this is such a great song and by far Frank Sinatra's best recording of it. I'm only 15 but Sinatra is my favorite singer and to me (although I think he is better known now for his later work) his 40s Columbia recordings are pure gold. Love everything about this.

  • @ashleyg325 cool sinatra is my favorite singer too i'm 15

  • @ashleyg325 I am 15 too, and I like him better when he was younger as well! I LOVE the 1930's-1950's!

  • @MissYoungClassic It's nice to see that other people my age acctualy enjoy this kind of music as much as I do. And ther seems to be an odd trend of liking his earlier music. "I'll be seeing you" and "Our love affair" are most definitely my favourites.

  • Oh Connie, meeting you and being so nice.

  • 300 years from now, someone will be playing a Tommy Dorsey tune. As far as any of the current "hits"....hmm...I don't think so.

  • I knew Joe Bushkin, who wrote the melody. When he played it on piano, he didn't change chords on the 3rd beat of the first bar. With this Sy Oliver arrangement (and Bushkin's on piano here, too), when they're in "C", in the first bar they play a C chord for 2 beats and then an E minor 2 beats. Much better than just a C chord. But Bushkin always just played the C chord! Haha! But he was the composer, so you can't say he was WRONG! Sy is such a killer genius, though.

  • im a college student, and even though this was before my time i quite enjoy the swing big band era. this tune is a classic

  • I've often, hand, called myself the second-youngest person to have had a foot in the big-band era, my regular high-school date at Canton, Ohio's, Moonlight Ballroom being the youngest. Out dancing on Saturday nights in 1960 or so, we were always by far the youngest people there. Now, due to odd circumstances, I live in a remote part of Asia, and am heartened to read that there are, anyway, SOME indications that my once-great homeland might have a future after all. Too often it seems not to.

  • I love everything about this record...the most relaxed and cool of Frank's vocals with Dorsey...the perfect medium tempo dance beat...piano and melody by the magnificent Joey B...and that Ziggy Elman lead trumpet...did I say I LOVE this record!?!?!?

  • Frank does a great tribute to this song on his live 1957 Seattle recording. You can tell of his fondness and nostalgia for his Dorsey days, even if it was only 15 years earlier

  • Sinatra's 1957 Seatlle concert is awesome, especially this song. He turns it into a shattering finale that makes the audience beg for more.

  • In this version of the song, you can clearly picture the dance floor in your mind's eye, a lively bustle of swirling and swaying couples keeping time with the music. It's a contrast with the later recording I am so familiar with. THIS IS BETTER. Not so much syncopation, I think, is better. My baby boomer parents abhor dancing, but I enjoy it. I occasionally make a point to admonish them for living without song and dance. I also make a point of seeking out these songs on YouTube. Thanks!

  • Wow! What a great song! It's so easy to listen to over and over! Man I love it! I wish we had musicians today that could

    perform like those wonderful people

from the Big Band and swing era of the past did! If only they had the juice! Hutzpah! Thanks trooper7h for posting this great tune!

  • CharlestonDog6

Thank you for that very positve comment. :)

those of us who were around in that era of music count ourselves very lucky to have had so much talent to enjoy listening to.

    Regards,

    trooper7h

  • @CharlestonDog6 Well I certainly have this kind of talent just sadly the music industry can't make money ofF this style anymore...crap rap and such horrendous talents (wait scratch the talent PART) of the Lady gaga's don't make me go gA gA ...not like Judy Garland & Mickey Rooney did...an era to cheerish forever!

  • Great song here. Dorsey and the Pipers we a magical combination. Throw FS in there even better too! And yes we have people that can perform like those people did today! Some not exactly the same, but all talented and very good at this type music. Its just mainstream has taken a turn for the worse and very few people appreciate this type music today. They are chasing the money and music that pays is not like this!

  • Great music from an age when music really was music.

I was only five years old in 1941, but even at taht tender age, I had developed an interest in the songs of the day and it has not waned.

    Thank you for sharing this.

  • Corrie121

You're my wife's age, and I'm 4 years older than that. Yes, I agree, music was music, and dancing to it was wonderful.

  • Definitely! The Big Band/Sinatra era was definitely AMAZING! I got hooked on Sinatra when I was 14 and just stopped even BOTHERING trying to get into recent music. Completely pointless. Donned my Fedora and walked down the hallways of my high school with pride! xD

    Sinatra = Greatest singer EVER!

  • I agree! Sinatra is King of Cool!!!

  • just like me i have a fedora to

  • @Corrie121 - thanks to uploaders like trooper including release years & some of my own digging, I've created 111 playlists for every year since 1900.

Listen like you've stepped back in time ! ! !

Then I've got nearly 300 more artists (like Tommy Dorsey) listed. It's over a century of worldwide pop music!

  • What a gift! I heard Joe Bushkin's tune way back in 1961 on my short wave radio in the former Soviet Union. Been hooked on big band music ever since. Thank you for bringing back so many memories.

  • sololakeli43,

  • The year was 1961, the place was the former Soviet Union and Joe Bushkin's Oh Look At Me Now was playing on my friend's short wave radio that was tuned to the Voice Of America Music USA with the legendary DJ Willis Conover. I was 18 and hooked on the big band music. A lot of water under the bridge. Many thanks

  • sololakeli43,

  • Agreed the Trooper does a good ear. .

  • Thanks Paulie,

I put it down to only having the radio and records to listen to on an hourly basis in the 30's and 40's... so there were no visual distractions

.You soaked the music up and because it was so good you became musically aware.

    regards,

    trooper7h
