He inspired me to play, the Blast were the only professional soccer team in the area at that time, and was off the chart with skill even with todays standards.
I will always remember the game :Red Star Belgrade -Cosmos New York in Belgrade It was in early 80's. Pele was there and all the world Stars that Cosmos had at that times. Stan scored 4 goals in 6; 4 Red Star victory. What a player. For me one of the finest players for Red Star ever. Rest in peace Srbo.
I remember watching him when he played with the Baltimore Blast. It was true artistry. Too bad his knees were shot. This brings back great memories. Thanks!
I have worn No. 10 my entire playing life, and Stamenkovic is the reason. The man was my idol growing up. Heck, even though he's gone -- God rest his soul -- he still is my idol.
I was born and raised on Memphis soccer, starting with the NASL Rogues and then to the Americans, but my favorite memory comes from a Memphis Storm game(circa 89-90) when Stan returned to Memphis on a visiting team. The Coliseum "MC" introduced Stan as a former Memphis American, but we knew that already. He took the field to a standing ovation of Memphians who never lost their love for him or his talent. The Magician!!!, You are not forgotten!!!
