I ask credit or debit because some customers get angry with me because they don't know it's almost the same thing when buying something. Also, if the card says debit, some customers say "I don't have know pin so just do credit" when i ask. But if I were to swipe it and they don't have their pin, i'd have to ring up the sale all over again.

I'd ask credit or debit to a man with no hands because debit you don't sign and he can put the pin in with his nose

debit is when the money gets taken straight out of your checking account, and if you don't have the money the card will get declined. credit will always get approved, and if you don't have it in your checking you will eventually get charged and get a bill and have to pay it back. debit is always the best choice.

debit, it's more safer than credit card because you don't have to pay the bill for the debit (cuz u only need to use the money inside the debit card account), but credit , you gotta pay back how much u actually used , but if you don't then :( you're gonna have a debt.

Some banks will tack on fees if you choose debit and use your pin number. My bank gives me points for each dollar I spend if I go the credit route (I think the transaction is easier for the bank to process) and I can then exchange the points for cash money!! I always go credit!

Debit means it comes out of the account immediately and you use a PIN number, and credit means that it is takes a couple days to come out of your account, and yes usually you have to sign, but not always.

I prefer debit because I don't like thinking that I have more money that I really do. lol

Its because when you run your debit card as debit you get charged an extra amount of dollars IE my bank is $2.50 but if I run it as credit it doesnt charge me anything extra just what I purchased it runs the same amount of time you would just pay $2.50 more than you need to if you use debit and not credit.

Well...there are some gas stations that won't let you get gas with debit unless you have over 75-100 bucks in your account..so if you only have 25 bucks, you hit the credit button, and you get your 25 bucks worth of gas..so sometimes having that option is nice!

A debit card can be used as both a credit or debit card. when using the credit option its not like your using an actual credit card. I see it as the only difference between debit and credit is the way the funds are being withdrawn. With credit it takes longer so your bank statement or whatever you use to look at your balance might be off because of the amount of time...

Banks like you to use credit, my bank even rewards me 10 cents every time i use the credit option ;)

I always use CREDIT. With Credit, the store pays the fees for the transaction for Visa or Mastercard etc. With Debit, most people end up paying the fee themselves. This can be as much as 2%.

The products you buy are already priced with the stores assuming that they will pay the fees, so I dont feel guilty about it.

My bank will let me overdraft if I use debit but Visa wont let me because it actually checks if I have money in the bank, so if I make an error it doesn't cost me.
