Dear all: thank you for all your responses. I would like to point out that the Alfa Romeo is almost 300kg lighter, and presumably has other specs than mentioned in the video. First of all, it is not a Q4, but it has FWD (which saves weight and power loss). Second of all, it has upgrades from Squadra tuning: a reprogrammed ECU, Q4-spec inlet and different camshafts.
The Volvo S80 T6 is stock, but it runs on LPG and has a large tank in the back, which makes it heavier than the standard version.
Furthermore, the Alfa Romeo has a manual 5-speed gearbox, opposed to the 4-speed automatic in the Volvo. The extra gear is an advantage, as well as the fewer drivetrain losses from a manual. The tuned Alfa Romeo has between 240 and 250hp so the differences are quiet well explained.
Last of all: The Volvo was tested on a rolling road and had 272hp and 460Nm on LPG and 270hp and 444Nm on petrol. Therefore I don't doubt that the engine is healthy. But yes, a lighter manual S60 T5 would do better.
what do you think? The volvo is waaaay more heavy. And try to take a other volvo. one that is made for more speed. Like the new s80 315 v8 witch should be good to take the weight away. Meaning you level it out.

I guess, if you think about it... S80 owners REALLY don't have to worry to awfully much about being beat by a Alfa 164... I mean really, they're about as common as DeLoreans... you almost NEVER see them. In fact, I'll bet I've seen more DeLorean's in the last ten years than I have Alfa 164s. LOL
I have an S80 and you can't "mat" the gas like you hear this guy doing. He slams the gas to the floor so fast you hear the "tap" or "click". ...IT'S A TURBO CAR, dude. You can't do that... or you're gonna get owned. You have to "spool" the turbos. Progressive increase of pedal speed on acceleration. Come-on, you stock turbo drivers know what I'm talking about. The car moves faster when you feather the gas and THEN hit it.
Its twin turbo dumbass. Volvos are fast, but they are not race cars. Most people wouldnt buy and s80 because the want to be the fastest on the road...

Lets do some small comparisons.
S60R (basically the fastest salon car from volvo) awd inline5 300hp.
compare that with the alfa 166,
best engine is v6 240hp.
or lets be kind to alfa, take the smaller salon car. 156 v6 not even above 200hp..
the only version thats compareable to the S60R, is the Autodelta.. which is a tuner version from a tuner company. s60r awd evolve or heico or you choose.. tunes the engine well over 500hp.
Corrent comments on that but you forgot that you are compering a turbo engine (volvo) with a normal one (alfa 166) . In this video its not mensioned if the alfa is the super v6 24v or the 3.0 v6 24v .
Ok take a 166 3.2 Q2 or better a 156 GTA Q2 and the volvo S60R with it's 1640kg, 300PS and 400Nm will have a problem. And don't choose the S60R with automatic gearbox because you will get smoked right after the start.
I own one of each of those cars, and I have to say the Alfa is the worst car I ever owned. I have more fun in my t6 for sure. At least it kinda runs, and I don't have to pay $300 for a motor mount or bore out the A/C bracket to fit a saab mount. Oh change a 164 clutch Master cylinder and THEN tell me what a pos geartronic is.
The S80 T6 runs low to mid 14's in the 1/4 mile stock, the Alfa runs low to mid 15's stock (look it up if you don't believe me). So there's either something wrong with that Volvo or that Alfa has more mods to it than just "delivery pipes".
To beat a V6 alfa you have to use at least a porsche! It's a very old engine but his torque is always available. Also if you "stretch" the volvo, alfa is a lot better... unfortunately both this cars are horrible.
The 4 speed geartronic ruins the T6 even a 9-5 aero saab with 250bhp is quicker than this volvo i have to say this is one of volvos more dissapointing cars the t6 could of been much faster with man transmission.
I also have 166 super V6 3.0 and have beaten Saab aero 9-5....after that he stopped me and asked what engine does it have....he was really confused when i said that this is not a turbocharged 3liter engine, but just an atmospheric one :) btw golf III 2.9 syncro is also slower that this alfa. Its a wonderful car and wonderful engine
Just a quick tip for you David. I have an s80 t6 and if you read your manual you will discover that the car has less power when you have it in gear tronic because gears 2,3,and,4 are slowed down to save gas as a feature from volvo. You might have had a chance if you were in drive because it doesn't try to save gas and gives you instant power when you mash it. I do have the chip upgrade but I always race in drive, and I've beat a mustang gt and a chevy cobalt SS with a supercharger.
the problem is the s80t6 auto box, as well as the s80 is heavier than the alfa.
you see, the auto box for fwd cant handle much abuse, so the engine has electronic controlled boost. One could remove this and give more boost, but the transmission would fail earlier due to more power.
that is not a fucking t6 no wonder y! i have one and i have beet so many cars such as a new honda accord coupe and a cobalt ss and scion tc and my car has nothing but z.r. rated tires. sadly it had 120,000 miles so i sold it and bought a brand new jetta, it sucks and mines manual and it still sucks so bad compared to these machines!
There is not only the intake runners the drifferent. exhaust system on the 24v and qv 24v is not the same. and i think there is another camshaft on the qv, but no one can confirm that yet. I dont really think you can get 20hp whit only the intake runners. The Alfa whit 211hp can beat cars whit almost 300hp. I dont think your car have more hp then the others Alfa 164 24v, except from hp your intake runners gives you. My friends car s40 t4 have 265hp and i still drive from him easy.
This Alfa has different air inlet pipes, from the QV/Q4. This gives an increase of 20hp and a few Nm's. We think this particular Alfa should have even more hp, considering the way it performs against other cars.
manual vs. automatic (and the old slow 4-speed one), offcourse the alfa will win.
but the volvo will be able to to thesame thing over and over again withaout braking into pieces ;) and the volvo is much heavier offcourse, proper cars require weight

No, the weight is actually 1599kg, in 2004 the weight was lowered by 47kg, making it weigh 1548kg. 2100 kg is the total weight capacity of the car.

In Holland the car has a registered weight of 1434 kg and in Italy 1510 kg
In wich country is the Alfa 1610 kg?
