@TehFoxit No, unless you have a battery grip and a really heavy lens. If you have the stock lens without anything extra, so just 550D and stock lens, HD-1000 is good, if you have a better and heavier lens than the stock lens, go with the HD-2000, Only go with the HD-4000 if you are going to use a battery grip, a heavy lens and extra accessories.
@peti1212 Could you go with the 4000 to "future proof" your investment? What if I don't currently have accessories like an external mic, monitor, lenses etc., but may consider adding them in the future? Is it simply not usable if you don't have the weight?
hey we have the same camera, the same lens, and the same mic, how about that? =D i see that you use the HD4000 for that, but would a HD2000 be as good? Great review btw, very helpfull.
@andyfrybread Well if you have a battery grip for the T2i, it is simple as opening up the battery grip on the side of the camera and replacing the batteries. Without the battery grip some cameras might require to be taken off from the Glidecam. Though it is not too difficult to balance and set up once again once you have the initial settings on the Glidecam.
@GuerVid How heavy is your whole camera setup? is it at least around 3.5 pounds? I've found I can work with that as well even though Glidecam's specs say it requires 4 pounds. Though if it is not, you can always use a slightly longer screw and use one of the weights that comes with the Glidecam HD-4000 on the top to add more weight to your setup.
@peti1212 - it is around that weight - I actually bought the HD4000 to use with the ex1r but was way to heavy to operate without the vest - great demo by the way - by far the best ive seen -
@GuerVid Just try to make sure the bottom part is aligned with the top plate, so the angles are not off. Try it first with only two weights see what happens. If it is too bottom heavy if you do the drop test, it will drop in less than 1.5 seconds. In this case try to adjust the height of the glidecam. You would have to make it shorter to balance the weight on the bottom with the top. Once you get a 2-2.5sec swing, then adjust the top plate so it would be balanced. Then practice, practice.
@GuerVid Oh, also, do remember that you should not be using the neck band or that sleeve that goes around your neck with a DSLR. That will throw off the balance as it moves around while you are shooting.
Thanks for the excellent explanation and demo! Best I've seen!
I have a Nikon D3000S with a variety of lenses and I'm planning on getting a video camera like the Sony CX560V. Do you think the HD-2000 would work well for both or would the HD-1000 or HD-4000 be better?

@JADURCA The HD2000 would be nice for the T2i/550D.
Just weight your camera included all equipment you want to use. Then choose the right model ;-) .
Sorry for my bad english, i'm from germany and you know, we are not as good as others in english. :-)
And btw: Really nice video! I'm going to buy a Glidecam HD-1000 oder HD-2000. The only bad thing on it is the price. :-(
