I completly agree. I dont understand why someone would just be ok with dieing because that is what their religion tells them. What kind of "god" wouldnt want you to willingly just let your self die. I doubt "god" just said right after dont steal dont follow your natural instinct of self preservation. I just love stupid people.(said in an extremly sarcastic way.)
You want my thoughts? People willingly choose to remove themselves from the gene pool because of their extreme stupidity should be considered heroes. They want to make sure that their stupidity does not get passed on to future generations. Celebrate their deaths as a victory for humanity and a victory of their willful decisions.
My grandmother who sadly died a few months ago told me how she remembers when all the foreign allied troops came to England during WWII. She said the Americans were lovely, but that the French Canadians were vile. She mentioned it loads before she died.
Okay my thoughts on it? It is sad when a person is brainwashed in such a way that someone who may be a genuinely good person dies, or when a mother refuses her child treatment and the child has no say in the matter.
Yes, stupidity kills, but to say that a person deserves to die because they are an idiot, I disagree.
I know many idiots who believe the dumbest shit but mean the world to me, like my dumbass friends and Christian parents.
Stupidity doesn't make a person less of a human than you.
Thank You For Posting; All the so-called Reverends, and other such fairy-tale titles in the socially acceptable religions, conducting 'healing-the-sick' in the name of their 'little invisible-friend-God' should be charged with 'medical malpractice', and put in a mental institution; also, at 'Nasa World Atlas of Solar Eclipse paths', note the 'total eclipse' path alleged to have occurred during the 'crucifixion of Jesus Christ' never ever happens any where near it.
God can help and you can pray but God gave people the gift to invent medicines and you can pray as well but even me as a Catholic would use medicine still because God helped give us it. But sometimes it is just peoples times.
When you go to a doctor for treatment, you'll probably wind up ingesting substances with which you're not familiar. The actions and methods of those drugs will probably not be something you fully understand, and often won't even be fully understood by the doctor. There will often be conflicting studies, which may show the drug to work only for some people, and to have only slightly improved success over placebo. And most drugs have even caused some deaths...
The confidence we give to Western medicine is an unproven faith similar to that of traditional medicines. Yes, it may help you, or it may not. It may even kill you. Think about it: chemotherapy is the introduction of poisons into the body, hoping it kills cancer cells faster than it kills other cells. Radiation is used to cure cancer -- but it's also known to be a CAUSE of it.
I think it's foolish to be so judgmental of people who have opinions that conflict with our own pre-conceived notions.
«The confidence we give to Western medicine is an unproven faith similar to that of traditional medicines»
You're a fucktard, and I'm pretty sure you don't work in science or medecine. Studies are based on facts, experimentations. Aleternative medecine is not. Do you know how we call alternative medecine that has been proved to work more than a placebo? M-e-d-e-c-i-n-e.
When you say «Western medicine is an unproven faith similar to that of traditional medicines», you've just prooved that you're a total moron who has no knowledge of what's he's talking about. Even worst, you have proven that you're not interested in facts.
«Yes, it may help you, or it may not. It may even kill you»
You don't have to believe that penecilin works for it to works. We never hear that for insulin too.
«Radiation is used to cure cancer -- but it's also known to be a CAUSE of it.»
YOU MORON. Is it the same raditation? Used the same way? At the same place? The same method? The same conditions? The same exposure? The same amount of raditation?
«I think it's foolish to be so judgmental of people who have opinions that conflict with our own pre-conceived notions. »
No, it's not. It's not about opinions, it's about facts, evidence. Our notions are not pre-conceived, they're based on facts. If the facts change, notions change. We don't see that with faith or alternative medecine.
This made me chuckle. There is nothing like a good old ad hominem fallacy. Anyways, this is part of why I get annoyed when someone is saying that faith is a good thing. The saddest part of this is that a drop of skepticism would have saved all those people you mentioned, Fsmdude.
Fsmdude, I have to admit, I disagreed strongly with your Eucharist videos because you had to go to the churches to get them.
However, so long as you confine your expression to speech, I am willing to listen to you with open ears.
As a biology student (and future neurosurgeon), I have to agree with what you have to say about people who disregard valid medical procedures in order to adopt alternative "medicinal" options. It seems like natural selection is taking its tole on such people.
The thing about cancer is that radiation can cause it sure but to cure it they use gamma rays which are aimed perfectly to hit that precise spot. Therefore will cause no harm to the person just get rid of the cancer.
Show me proof of that «There will often be conflicting studies, which may show the drug to work only for some people, and to have only slightly improved success over placebo».
Do you have any idea how hard it is for a drug to be selled on the market? Do you have any idea how long it takes, how hard scientists have to work, how many studies have to be done, how many conference must be done? I do, I know all the steps and let me tell you something: you don't know anything
Like what? You know, even safety belt in cars have caused a lot of death. Should we remove them, even if wearing a safety belt has shown to reduce the number of death and injury in car's accident?
