I have a 1991 Sheraton made in Korea, and they are really nice! So much better than the Chinese made ones coming out now. Also have the Gibson 57 Classic pickups in it, and had it set up recently. Played a Gibson ES-335, and the difference was negligible. Are really great bargain guitars, am not regretting my purchase one bit!!
its soooo pretty ! i want one but i dont even know how to play one note on any guitar fml , but i want this guitar and will get it by selling this macbook gbye homies
@MrSuperTevez It depends on your hand size. The best thing to do is go to a store and play as many guitars as you can to find the one that is most comfortable. the Epi would make a great starter guitar as long as it feels good to you.
@JamminJoeBuck Hi Joe, can you elaborate on the kind of neck it has? also, are you still satisfied with the guitar or sold it (the stores near me don't have it has to be ordered)
@isawlindsey sheraton is better because it can stand up to gibsons and plus its an original epiphone which means its not a copy of a gibson in any way you know like most of the les pauls and etc... the dot is just a copy of a gibson so the originals are always better.
@isawlindsey I have a Dot. They should sound pretty much exactly the same, same woods and pickups. Infact the only difference between these Epi's and the Gibsons are the pickups. The Sheraton is the blingiest and I kinda wish my Dot had a bound neck, but hey, it's Pelham blue but who cares right? :D Put in Gibson pickups into either guitar and it'll be a 335 minus the name on the headstock. I'd probably recommend the Sheraton if you have extra cash. Love my Dot though. :)
I, as an Alternative Rock player got this epic guitar a few days ago. I simply couldn't be happier about it (don't ask, I just tried it besides a Mexican Telecaster and decided for the Sheraton). The only thing that doesn't fit me at a 100% are the inlays since they end at Fret XV. But I found it pretty god, at least better than Casino or Dot
i was considering getting this or the casino, i like the casino more because of the extreme comfort on the neck, however i like the humbuckers on the sheraton because i play blues, so would you advise the sheridan or the casino? thank you for the help and keep rockin' ( or bluesin')
@ubacam I can't really say much because I have only owned the Sheraton II. I love my sherry it covers a great variety of sounds from blues to jazz and rock and it's semi-hollow. The casino on the other hand is fully hollow so you might experience a bit more feed back.
oke dude i never realized that you are not a live one man band, but you have to admit that there are plenty of one man live bands out there,i ttought you was one of them..never the less i like youre style and i bought myselfa epiphone sheraton 2 becouse of youre review, and i have to say if my house catches fire that guitar is the only thing i grab before i run outside,if i had the money i would buy the etilist or the john lee hooker to..its a mighty guitar, cant stop playing my sheraton 2
when is the sound of the rest of the band kicking in...joe buck man you better strap on some cymbals around youre feet,a mouthharmonica or something, a oneman band plays several instruments at the same time,....youre rythem is good dough ,got no problem with ya..but you are a guitarist , and not a one man band..can you dig it..cool
@The0472kingstitt Hey dude, check out my website and listen to my songs and then tell me that I'm not a 1 man band! I never claimed to be a 1 man live band. Good luck in life!
I love the Sheraton. Do they make the Sheraton in Red with a black pick guard? I have a Gibson B.B King Lucille and IMO the Sheraton sounds better than it does.
@PurpleShamrock the main reason im getting this guitar and its an awesome guitar is because it can stand to gibsons and plus its an original epiphone which means its not a copy of a gibson in any way you know like most of the les pauls and etc...
@johnnynocaster Yes, they do. Colours available are Ebony Black, Natural, Vintage Sunburst, and Cherry Red (or so....). Quite an amazing instrument :-)
Just got a Nat. Sheritan II. DREAM guitar. I own a Gretsch Triple Jet with copper top(only 3) that Randy PArsons made. I dig my Sheritan cuz i can take it to gigs. To all you purists out there: Just cuz it says Gibson, doesn't make it better!. Gibson only makes good acoustics! They got on the Electric bandwagon late. Their first was a les paul gold top that was painted gold because it was made from exact materials as the tele. Love my Epi more than my ES(electric Spanish) 335.
saw that guitar some months ago and I really wanna buy it :D the only thing is, there are so many blues vids up on youtube cause obviously it is a blues guitar ^^ I would be interessted though how it handles with heavy distortion cause the music I make is more like punkrock. and another thing: I really don't wanna be rude =/ but is that guitar really that big or are you just small? I don't mean it offending :) just wanna know how big that thing likely is. couldn't find any dimensions on the net.
hey there im looking to buy an electric guitar ive noticed alot of my favorite players play this guitar or an es gibson model i was thinking about getting this and putting a bigsby on and putting tv jones pickups on do you thing that set up would work
@singingmudskipper yes the dot in my opinion is a very bad guitar when you go high up the fretboard the neck is really fat and difficult to play on, it feels cheep when u hold it and it does not have a great sound.
The sheraton in my opinion is perfect i dont hav any pronlems wit it
@singingmudskipper If we're talking Dot Studio, then YES. The Dot studio is trash. However, I had once owned a Dot Deluxe and I'd say it's similar to the Sheraton, but I've gotta say the Sheraton I played at a GC off the stand sounded way warmer and nicer than the Dot I had. I'm actually planning to get one of these-awesome jazz tones.
@singingmudskipper epiphone dot is a less expensive COPY of gibson es 335..but Epiphone Sheraton is not...matter of infact...you.re should not suppose to find a black es guitar with gold knobs and gold pickup unless its a sheraton
@singingmudskipper The Dot neck was not as nice, the Sheraton neck feels very comfortable much better than the dot, the Sheraton has binding on both body and neck but the dot does not or at least none that I have seen. Pickups I don't know if they are different or not I do know the Sheraton had an awesome natural blues tone and the dot was a lot more neutral and hoe hum in terms on tone. I had a dot before but didn't like it so I took it back and got a sherry and have never regretted it.
I like to buy a guitar, and I can not choose which, think of what a better guitar, epiphone shertaon 2 or epiphone BB King Lucille ??? (sorry for my english i'm hungarian)
@Guitarszekely Both guitars are very similar, and are both great. They feel the same but BB King Lucille has the F holes filled in and has different electronics. I play both, but I prefer the Sheraton II. It is a little lighter and is great for blues, jazz and rock. I hope this helps my friend!
I plan to buy a semi-hollow body and a little amp for playing at home. I need an amp with headphone output and mic input (the DA20 has both but I readthe DA10 had a better sound). For the guitar I hesitate between the Sheraton II, the Hagstrom Viking, the Gretsch G5122DC, and Ibanez Artcore series..
Pickups are lousy in my 2009 Sh II. I replaced them with Classic 57's and didn't expect to hear such a difference. Boy was I wrong. The 57's took away my buyer's remorse. My Sherry felt nice overall but I was disappointed in the frets. Nice on the ends, but way too much buzz for that price range. I fixed the buzz with fretwork, pickups are swapped, guitar is great....now.
It's a blues progression. I'm sure it sounds like a lot of different songs. I can't say I am familiar with Mr. Kings version of born under a bad sign.
I put Gibson Classic '57 pickups on mine and can't hear much difference between them and the stock Epiphone pickups. Plus, the pole spacing is closer together on the Gibson pickups so the high E and low E string are not centered over the pole peices like they should be. Can't do anything to change it except maybe file new notches in the E string saddles to move those strings over some.
Glad you like it! This is just one of my own blues creations. I used this progression on one of my original blues tunes. Check out my website to hear all of my songs for free! Later, JJB
I've had two (the first one had the brown vintage sunburst and the second had the later, more golden-brown vintage sunburst finish) and both had metal E's on the scratchplate. Also neither had serial numbers on the label inside, but I have seen them with a number there. And the first had to have the pick selector switch replaced twice.
@seanytwonk You know, I've heard Epiphones tend to have terrible electronics, and I've seen this firsthand with guitars in-store, but I have had no troubles with mine :)
That's what's giving me second thoughts about getting another. Actual trouble with my first, possible trouble with my second, alright when playing single notes bot too trebly when strumming chords. So, was it the Wiring? Pickups? Amp? I'll never know.
@seanytwonk Probably wiring, that appears to be a trouble spot. I tried an Epiphone LP once that made the most terrible crackling noise whenever the volume knob was turned.
Hi Joe, can you play this guitar without amplification please, i wanna buy one but wanna check the sound before go shop test one , sorry for my bad english, hughs !
It sounds like any other semi hollowbody guitar when unpluged. It is a little bit louder than a solid body without an amp, but you're gonna need an amp!
Amps and pedals are a personal preferance. I can't know the sound you are looking for. Head to a music store and try out everything you can. Good luck!
I love the neck on this axe. It is the same neck that is on BB King's Lucille model. If you are looking for a real comfortable neck, you better stick with a strat or a les paul with the 60's slim tapered neck.
You must have been really trying hard, my Sheraton is 13 years old and still has its original pickguard with E still on there never fallen off...there great! i play alot of rock/alternative lots of toney sounds. my sheraton does the trick for sure. your gold hardware will tarnish though. expect it.
hey listentothesesongs?? did you buy your sheraton 2 in Australia or America??? Cuz if it was in Australia i would liek to know name of store so i could buy one =)! thanks
I only buy my guitars from 1 store here in the USA.The name of the store is Sweetwater. The info is posted on this video. They sell internationaly, so give Brian at Sweetwater a call when you're ready. They only sell quality axes!
Hello, this composition is great and i´d like to play it...Can you send me any tabs or dots? I must to educate it! Well I´ve same guitar as you :)) thank you for answer
I am glad you like my playing. I am self taught and I play by ear. Sorry that I can not provide you with tabs or dots. I just have a funky way of playing an E blues. The main chords are E7, A7 and B7.
Hope this helps. You can hear all of my songs on the JJB website.
The Epiphone Sheraton II is great for blues and rock. I prefer the Epiphone Emperor II Joe Pass model for jazz. It is a full hollowbody that is an absolute dream to play!
I don't know the exact weight, but it does not seem very heavy to me. It seems to weigh about the same as my les paul. I can strap this baby on for hours with no strain.
one question about the sheraton..did you played your sheraton and bought it or did you had to search for a sheraton model that sounded good..i mean was there a difference between the sheratons you played?
Hello, I buy all of my guitars online from Sweetwater out of Indiana. They only sell the very best ones. The crapy ones they send back to the factory. Hope this helps!
I'm relatively new to playing the guitar. I bought an epiphone ej200 (acoustic) 2 months ago but i want to play more than just acoustic! I'm a huge Oasis fan (I'm not trying to start anything here) and thought "Noel had a Sheraton back in the 90's and now-a days he's using a Gibson ES-335. Maybe i should get me a Hollow-body!"
My quesion is this, is this guitar good for Rock N Roll (not heavy metal) like Oasis, Beatles, or Stones kind of thing?!
Hello, Yes this guitar is great for rock & roll!! If heavily distorted, just stay a little bit away from your amp so it does not feedback. I have never personaly had a problem with any feedback. Take care, Jammin Joe Buck
The neck is bigger than a strat and a 60s style les paul, but smaller than the 50s style les paul. The epiphone Joe Pass Emporer II has a thin neck that is very fast, It is my favorite!
I have been playing guitar for abot 15 years. I started playing the trumpet at age three. Trombone, drums and bass came along a few years ago so I could be my own 1 man band for recording albums.
Hello, I am not aware of any featured articles on me this month, but it would not be the first time I was the last to find out! Thanks, Jammin Joe Buck
I have two of these.. and they are different from each other.. the brown t burst was having issues with the strings slipping.. I thought.. took it to a luthier before I learned to build guitars, and he made a bone nut for it.. NO problems since and it playes great.. the natural wood one plays jazzier .. I love these
I played about 30 guitars today and this one was far and away one of the best and most versatile. PRS and Gibson Les Paul Studio were also very bright and clean.
I just bought a Sheraton I LOVE IT! i agree the pups are really nice i wont change them out. I cant really believe what a great guitar it is, i know epiphone gets a bad wrap sometimes on some of there guitars but this Sheraton is truly a great guitar in its price range i got mine on ebay and save a few bucks Keep on Rockin! Thanks for posting!

Glad you like it! This is just one of my own blues creations. I used this progression on one of my original blues tunes. Check out my website to hear all of my songs for free! Later, JJB

invictorium 2 years ago
The Epiphone E on the pickguard.
It's just a sticker.

o sorry....i feel like a prick now
invictorium 2 years ago 7
@EricBallard you know i did not know that. i always hated that.
dgwhite1972 1 year ago
@EricBallard
I've had two (the first one had the brown vintage sunburst and the second had the later, more golden-brown vintage sunburst finish) and both had metal E's on the scratchplate. Also neither had serial numbers on the label inside, but I have seen them with a number there. And the first had to have the pick selector switch replaced twice.
seanytwonk 1 year ago
@seanytwonk You know, I've heard Epiphones tend to have terrible electronics, and I've seen this firsthand with guitars in-store, but I have had no troubles with mine :)
EricBallard 1 year ago
@EricBallard
That's what's giving me second thoughts about getting another. Actual trouble with my first, possible trouble with my second, alright when playing single notes bot too trebly when strumming chords. So, was it the Wiring? Pickups? Amp? I'll never know.
seanytwonk 1 year ago
@seanytwonk Probably wiring, that appears to be a trouble spot. I tried an Epiphone LP once that made the most terrible crackling noise whenever the volume knob was turned.
EricBallard 1 year ago
@invictorium
The first letter E from epiphone is on the pickgaurd, and thats a sticker :P

Hi Joe, can you play this guitar without amplification please, i wanna buy one but wanna check the sound before go shop test one , sorry for my bad english, hughs !
Bloodytone 2 years ago
It sounds like any other semi hollowbody guitar when unpluged. It is a little bit louder than a solid body without an amp, but you're gonna need an amp!
JamminJoeBuck 2 years ago
What is the best kind of amp and pedal to use on a sheraton. I use mine for church music. (Rock/Blues/Contemporary/Gospel)
provs17 2 years ago
Amps and pedals are a personal preferance. I can't know the sound you are looking for. Head to a music store and try out everything you can. Good luck!
JamminJoeBuck 2 years ago
I read somewhere that the necks on the sheratons were quite uncomfortable. How is it? Is it chunky on the higher frets?
KidPanda009 2 years ago
I love the neck on this axe. It is the same neck that is on BB King's Lucille model. If you are looking for a real comfortable neck, you better stick with a strat or a les paul with the 60's slim tapered neck.
JamminJoeBuck 2 years ago
Less than a Les Paul and a little more than a Strat. It is quite comfortable to play for hours!
JamminJoeBuck 2 years ago
oh thats great i want to buy this guitar and i dont know how much it weighs thanks for that! cant wait ^^
BeniB1991 2 years ago
You must have been really trying hard, my Sheraton is 13 years old and still has its original pickguard with E still on there never fallen off...there great! i play alot of rock/alternative lots of toney sounds. my sheraton does the trick for sure. your gold hardware will tarnish though. expect it.

Hello, this composition is great and i´d like to play it...Can you send me any tabs or dots? I must to educate it! Well I´ve same guitar as you :)) thank you for answer
Loutky 2 years ago
I am glad you like my playing. I am self taught and I play by ear. Sorry that I can not provide you with tabs or dots. I just have a funky way of playing an E blues. The main chords are E7, A7 and B7.
Hope this helps. You can hear all of my songs on the JJB website.

its googd to play jazz?
Felipesalvego 2 years ago
The Epiphone Sheraton II is great for blues and rock. I prefer the Epiphone Emperor II Joe Pass model for jazz. It is a full hollowbody that is an absolute dream to play!
JamminJoeBuck 2 years ago
very nice!great playing,jamming joe!
what vox amp model is that?
stratoaxel 2 years ago
It's a VOX DA20. I love this little practice/recording amp! It also runs on batteries for when you need to be mobile.
JamminJoeBuck 2 years ago
can you tell me what is the exact weight of the guitar cause i cant find that info anywhere,i heard its heavy but that is subjective also.TNX
Take care!
G36n 2 years ago
I don't know the exact weight, but it does not seem very heavy to me. It seems to weigh about the same as my les paul. I can strap this baby on for hours with no strain.
JamminJoeBuck 2 years ago
I heard that the fretboard on the Sherry's is a little dry, this true?
joeypaint 2 years ago
The neck is beautiful on mine! Sweetwater would never send me a bad guitar!

Hi Jammin joe,
one question about the sheraton..did you played your sheraton and bought it or did you had to search for a sheraton model that sounded good..i mean was there a difference between the sheratons you played?
best regards from berlin

Hello, I buy all of my guitars online from Sweetwater out of Indiana. They only sell the very best ones. The crapy ones they send back to the factory. Hope this helps!
JamminJoeBuck 2 years ago
I'm relatively new to playing the guitar. I bought an epiphone ej200 (acoustic) 2 months ago but i want to play more than just acoustic! I'm a huge Oasis fan (I'm not trying to start anything here) and thought "Noel had a Sheraton back in the 90's and now-a days he's using a Gibson ES-335. Maybe i should get me a Hollow-body!"
My quesion is this, is this guitar good for Rock N Roll (not heavy metal) like Oasis, Beatles, or Stones kind of thing?!
Thanks for the help =)
chrissme92 2 years ago
Hello, Yes this guitar is great for rock & roll!! If heavily distorted, just stay a little bit away from your amp so it does not feedback. I have never personaly had a problem with any feedback. Take care, Jammin Joe Buck
JamminJoeBuck 2 years ago
I heard from some friends who have played some gigs and they say it causes alot of feedback, this true?
joeypaint 2 years ago
This all depends on how close you are to your amp. I've never had a problem!
JamminJoeBuck 2 years ago
:o) As I can hear... I also like to play that kind of funk blues
jp6l6 2 years ago
nicee epiphone through a vox, awesome choice of amp! (:

Hey joe, how does the neck feel is it thick thin? cause am more of a strat guy and can't decide either to get the sheraton or casino?
codemonkey615552 2 years ago
i heard that the sheraton had thin necks :/
1ThoughtTheives 2 years ago 2
The neck is bigger than a strat and a 60s style les paul, but smaller than the 50s style les paul. The epiphone Joe Pass Emporer II has a thin neck that is very fast, It is my favorite!
JamminJoeBuck 2 years ago
can you sing too?? thats where the blues shines through?
dazwazere1800 2 years ago
I sure do !!! Check out my website. All of the instruments and vocals were all performed and recorded by yours truly. Jammin Joe Buck

dazwazere1800 2 years ago
I have been playing guitar for abot 15 years. I started playing the trumpet at age three. Trombone, drums and bass came along a few years ago so I could be my own 1 man band for recording albums.

I have two of these.. and they are different from each other.. the brown t burst was having issues with the strings slipping.. I thought.. took it to a luthier before I learned to build guitars, and he made a bone nut for it.. NO problems since and it playes great.. the natural wood one plays jazzier .. I love these
ADDIElilqueenie 3 years ago
I played about 30 guitars today and this one was far and away one of the best and most versatile. PRS and Gibson Les Paul Studio were also very bright and clean.
