A Proud Profession

after i graduate college, im thinking bout becoming a firefighter. if i can get through the academy, shud i try to become a volunteer for bout a year, then go to career. is the academy fun, how hard is it to get accepted to the academy, and how hard is it to get a job at the fire dept???? cause if it is to hard, i can always try to become a police officer. can somebody please answer these questions???? please????
