So many people asking why? Dudes this guy pioneered synth he didnt have access to the shit that's around now... And hell wheres the fun in it if he used a laptop and a single synth... Shit yea for all that awesome 70/80's kit it must be worth a fortune!
he's a performer that got lotsa publicity back in the day, that's why everyone owns oxygen in vinyl... but was he the best? nope.
i love him anyways, just hate all the non-synth-people saying "he's so awesome and makes music that only aliens whould listen too" srslyu, get a life x)
schade ich glaub aus ner laserharp oder nem theremin könnte man mehr rausholen wenn sich iwer mal mit einem einzigen instrument davon auseinandersetzt...
@rockmesexyjesus10 The reason it sounds "old school" as he is one of the pioneers of electronic music today. Both he and Vangelis were experimenting with this style.. Since the 70's..
@Cythrawl102 I never said his sound was old school. i was admiring his old school synthesizers. you must think i am a child.i am in college and i am basing my entire career around sound synthesis.i have listened to pieces by composers that you will probably never hear of that were working in this field before your JMJ.i dig his music btw ^_^
@Cythrawl102 on that note.please read everything more thoroughly. before you try to call people out on something. if you want to talk pioneers of electronic music, there are composers that have a good 20 years on him. but JMJ is very talented and he helped bring it to the mainstream media
@Cythrawl102 I never claimed that i was an expert on him or anything for that fact. Any hack that studies what i am studying can tell what he is doing to his sounds. this is a serious question. are you delusional? every time you have attempted to make some snarky comment at me, or have tried to be offended by me, has not been justified in the least bit. you are either delusional or an idiot. that one was meant to be offensive. stop pestering me. all i did was applaud him for his synthesizers.
@rockmesexyjesus10 Ok.. You need to lay off the self righteousness. YOU said you never heard of him.. My reply wasnt snarky in the slightest, but you took it was it was.. so much so that you had to write TWO replies being aggressive about it. I write a simple rebuttal claiming that seeing you NEVER heard of him and you suddenly sounded like an "expert on him" with your two replies. Theres only one person being delusional and making them self look like an idiot. Go look in a mirror to see him ok?
@Cythrawl102 i am not being self righteous in the least bit. i said any hack (i referred to myself as hack) can tell what he is doing to his sounds. hahahaha. i know i said i never heard of him. but trust me the electronic music world is much larger than your jmj, i know what he is doing, because i am studying this field. look through all of my comments and tell me where i claim i am an expert on him. All i said is i am studying electronic music at a collegiate level. that was it.
@rockmesexyjesus10 Then if you was studying about it you would have found this on his father : " Jarre was married four times, the first three marriages ending in divorce. His marriage to Francette Pejot (in the 1940s, after World War II), produced a son, Jean Michel Jarre, a French composer who is one of the pioneers in electronic music."
Read that.. ONE OF THE PIONEERS... and yes I know the Electronic music is much larger. I was a child when I first listened to JMJ in the 70's-80's
@Cythrawl102 i also fail to see how the amount of comments i leave has anything to do with the "aggressiveness" of what i am saying. last time i left two comments was to give you information and then give more praise to jmj. I am not going to bother responding to anymore of your comments because you are a very close minded individual. i refuse to talk to people like you. simply because we will continue to argue in circles even though you can clearly see everything i have said.goodbye good sir :)
@rockmesexyjesus10 Also what do you mean by pioneer like directly or had a part in making what it is today? If you want to talk directly then we need to step back in 1906-08.
@Cythrawl102 there is something that need to know that maurice jarre is the one that started it,as composer and mussician is son jean michelle can only be one of the best

@Flashbang83 You should try listening to the album "Chronologie" by
Jean Michel Jarre all the way through.
Then try telling the world He can't play an instrument ( if that is what you believe ).
Even better, listen to the albums OXYGENE and EQUINOXE ( which are probably older than you are ).
If you have heard of the music of Jean Michel Jarre from the Oxygene album in 1978 onwards you will know the guy has got a lot of imagination.
Do not comment unless you feel you can do better than Him.
