a corporation puts together PR packaged news to include key ideas that they can then include in their marketing strategy. Once people see the news cast on (whatever their "trusted" newsource) television AND start seeing commercials (usually played around the same time) that have the same underlying message, they are snagged.

The media outlets are not searching for the truth; they are just playing whatever generates them the most money.

The more spectacular or interesting the story the more people watch the program and more advertisers pay to run their commercials. Yeah, there really isn't any independent media anymore. It's almost all commercial/consumer dependent and driven. I think the farce of Faux news etc is so obviously propaganda that many people are starting to realize this. But who has time to fully vet every news story they hear? I hate to point this out, but in other industrialized countries, they have non-commercial (usually taxpayer funded)independent news agencies that report the important news stories (not the sensational ones) The news lasts a whole hour, so they can actually talk about an issue in some depth. If people are bored, they can tune out, but surprisingly, many watch. I think pandering to the lowest common denominator has left a lot with nowhere to go for serious journalism, or a different point of view.
