    The 10 year COE can be renewed as long as you wish to keep the car, but the 5 year COE cannot be renewed at all and the car will have to be scrapped at the end of the 5 years. If teh car is in decent condition, usually it will not be destroyed, it will be exported to another country which does not have such strict controls on the car population.

    Ha ha, has your friend been to Singapore? Actually there is a little bit of truth in it, but it is not the whole story.

    The situation is that you need to have a COE, Certificate of Entitlement, in order to buy a new car. This is valid for 10 years. After that you can extend the "life" of your car buy buying another COE, this time with options of 5 years or 10 years. more...
