How did this music get past the censors? ? I'm still at a loss as to what it's trying to do. Is it funky? No. Those dulled basslines sound like someone farting into a pillow. Or like the school teacher in the Charlie Brown cartoons scolding some child for his inability to spit, sing and gargle at the same time. Is it soulful? No. Time-stretched vocals never had any appeal, ever. There's no real hook, no real melody. It doesn't even pay any decent homage to Classic Garage.

I find dubstep pretty good but not very groovy. THe kids need to look back a bit at some more of this kind of stuff and funky variants thereof. @MrDunc77 check out some more speed garage and UK garage (which is fantastic especially '95. Also look for original UK hardcore (prodigy being the major commercial influence) back in the day. Fish Hoek massiv (great whitez).

To all you people asking, this is 2-step garage. Dubstep's bass style was inspired by this. It has nothing to do with dub, the point of dubstep is that it combines the bassline of this with the percussion style of dub (hence the name dubstep).

And you've got it the complete wrong way around, omidayz. Dubstep get's its beats from 2-step garage, and the dub comes from dub reggae, the subbass and ragga samples etc.

To be honest, just because the bas in this is wobbly it doesn't mean it was a direct influence on Dubstep. Dubstep's bass style comes more from the dark 2-step of El-B, Horsepower Productions, Zed Bias.

Hey dub is just about gritty spacy tape delays, soothing tempo and much "sampling" with tape recorders. The things they did back in the 70's with primitive gear is fantastic!
