i've been visited manila,jakarta and bangkok, manila much more slum and dirty compared with those cities. those cities seems similar in the term of traffic jam and skyscrapers..but bangkok more natty than manila. i think bangkok and jakarta much more better than manila, makati is the best part in manila but other part so dirty,crowded and slum

I was in makati in december of 05 and jan 06. Well, I was in Quezon city in the brgy Riverside to be exact. But my fiancee showed me around metro manila. Very nice. Came back in dec 07 and jan - feb 08 married her in Maasin City. Tangka-an beach is very nice.

I was in makati in december of 05 and jan 06. Well, I was in Quezon city in the brgy Riverside to be exact. But my fiancee showed me around metro manila. Very nice. Came back in dec 07 and jan - feb 08 married her in Maasin City. Tangka-an beach is very nice.

Makati comes from the word "kati" which means "low tide" in Tagalog. In the early days, Makati was mostly swamp and under water as it is very close to Pasig River. Across this river, north of Makati, is the city of Mandaluyong which comes from the tagalog word "daluyong" which more or less means strong water flow. Close to them is the city of Pasig which comes from "pasigan" or "shore". Manila derived its name from the word "maynilad" or "nilad" a water plant found in that same river.
