Ahhhh GSX-R1000 come out in 2001 and win 9 of of 10 championship after that, i dont care if ur Gram was riding the Big Gixxer everyone else 2nd place! Mat you and Jimmie Johnson two of the best ever in respective sports and theres no debate here these are facts story over!
I really would have liked this guy to have stepped up to world superbikes. Ben Spies did an amazing job when he went there and I honestly think that it would probably be the same with Matt. Although if Troy Bayliss had still been riding then second would have been all they would get. Now there is a guy who retired far too soon as even now when he gets on a superbike he is faster than all the WSB regulars.
@ridgeback69z What is the story ref the suzuki? I only stumbled across an article about a performance part that was not eligible for racing in the AMA. If your statement is true then that is a shame as I genuinely thought he was there on his merits. I would appreciate any info on the subject or a link to some. Cheers
Mat beat ben more times than ben beat Mat, and he only lost the championship to ben the last year ben was riding because of that BS crankshaft stuff that DMG made up because Mat spoke the truth about how DMG messed up superbike, funny they didn't check bens crankshaft, just Mat's and Tommy Haydens crankshafts

@TheDelianLeague Suzuki funded the ama for years. Their reward?
Someone like Mladin riding a hot as fuck bike. aka illegal Suzuki. Mladin would have been raped every race leaving the US.

No matter how much you like Mat Mladin he cannot possibly be referred to as the best as he did not race against the best.

The ama series will not be the same without mat, but one thing for sure the races will be more interesting to watch, wish him good luck.
