I really liked this record. In fact this was the first BE record I had heard and loved it,which prompted me to uncover everything else he has done. It turns out I love, love his older stuff. I didn't think it could get any better than this, but it did. It felt like Christmas discovering his stuff. He is pure lyrical genuis and great human being

Anyone think his annunciation is a little different than the last few records? The syllables are really soft. There's no southern/country drawl. This song in particular sounds like he took a handful of percocet before recording vocals. It's very soothing. I'll tell ya this kid does it all - from biting political/social commentary to "head-in-the-clouds" soul music; it doesn't get any better than this in the the 21st century.
You know, I'd been listening to the other tracks on this album and just wasn't feelin' it as much as his older stuff...but this song is so it. I heard this and realized how much I'd missed Conor, and that wonderful tone he gets when he lightly scoops his notes like that...damn. So much feeling.
Fuckin' love you, Conor. Happy to hear your voice again.
Conor is def still close with the Mystic Valley gang (who are all kickin ass in their own respective projects), but Conor has said he is a bit burnt out on "americana" folky-pop-rock. I think we won't hear as formulaic songs that MVB (and MoF) had been putting out. He wasnt clear what he meant by "americana" and I think he means his more predictable songs that have a shorter shelf life, like Nikorette, Danny Callahan, Worldwide. I think Conor looks at Digital Ash and LOTH as his masterpieces.
@iSmkoeBluntsToMyFace It's funny - his brand of "Americana" (formulaic songs, verse/chorus/repeat) is still better than anything out there.
I think writing is cyclical for him. Him and Mogis heavily produce "Lifted" and tour with 18 people, so naturally the next record "Wide Awake" is a folk (Americana) record. Cassadega is heavily produced, so the MVB becomes the yang with formulaic pop structures. Then he needs a break and makes this record.
@SROD12321 I love all of it too man, and i enjoyed your comment, and totally agreed with it. you are correct about the heavy production in Wide Awake and Cassedega, and i love how it juxtaposes with the organic stripped down "americana" sound that the MVB and even MOF had going on. Sometimes I don't know which I like more to be honest, I hail outer south as the most underrated album he has put out. I am not burnt out on it, that's for damn sure.
Yo puse el "Dislike" sólo para ser el primero en algo.... pero en realidad me gusta mucho.

@obsessionXwithXgaara I'd totally agree. This song shows that he's still able to inflict so much emotion with just a few words and a chord change.
