I watched the anime that uses this as its theme song in highschool. Now I went to college and took Japanese classes, and I can understand the song. ... :D
Im ashamed to say the music reminds me of HIM and i cant totally see bits of Ville in him. OMG WHAT IVE DONE. (just for everyone to know im a huge fan of both bands <.<)
They are not "the japanese version" of anybody. B-T have their own unique, beyond awesome style. Of course they'd been influenced by certain artists as well, but that's completely different. And at this point, BT have influenced as many bands/artists as they have been influenced by.
@floAndalex89 i totally agree with you! i have been reading these comments and i was like; "what?! they dont sound like anybody such as depeche mode or HIM!!" you put my thoughts into words :)))
@theghostparticle Well, Asians "usually" have good genetics when it comes to skin and hair , but most of it I can assure you is make up done by professionals.
@TheIndustrialClef There are some things similar but gackt has more of a faster pace this could be compared to Gackts song Mizerable when it slows down but otherwise they are completely different If you like this song then you might want to watch Night Walker an Anime thats on youtube only this is the opening song and theres an anime called shiki you can find it on hulu it has Buck tick's song Kuchizuke and another as the opening theme they are awesome animes
@Saissister Hmmm.......I have already watched 'Trinity Blood' which features their song 'Dress' which I love. Might check out those other animes.
To be honest I just think they have some vocal range and that is all. I think that is really the similarity that people have picked out. Yet, it doesn't mean they exactly sound the same.
@bananabonbon Depeche Mode predates Buck-Tick, and Buck-Tick doesn't have this Depeche-y feeling to them all the time. Regardless of any of that, they're both amazing bands with top-notch vocalists (who also both have really good solo albums).
I absolutely love this song!! It was the first Japanese song I ever learned how to sing. And it fit the anime, Nightwalker, so well. It was there that I first heard this song. Buck Tick is such a great band. I love their music and Atsushi's voice is pure sex. Especially in this song. -drools-
i love the piano instrumental so much more, lol... the sweetness... i think is what made it sound so great... with this background sound track... i dunno... the lyrics just didn't hit me.
It's not emo, but it *does* sound a bit like goth rock. Note that when I say Goth Rock, I mean Sisters of Mercy / Fields of the Nephilim / Violator-era Depeche Mode, not Marilyn Manson or what have you.
Are you joking around? Because Marilyn Manson is definitely not Death Metal though the new album is supposedly to have Death Metal influences but ultimately Marilyn Manson is a shock rock band or industrial rock band.
@zynthysys actually some of buck tick's early material was straight up deathrock then they started sinking into the vk sound then goth/darkwave and industrial rock
@zynthysys To me this sounds more like simply electronic/industrial rock, not goth.
@clyhiz Yes, I would say post-punk and New Wave, not really deathrock. I also don't think B-T ever had a typical visual kei sound.
...I would say, 80's: post-punk and New Wave. 90's: alternative rock, electronic rock and industrial rock. 00's: electronic rock, goth rock and "retro" rock. :)
@HAL0INREVERSE They never even looked visual kei, much less sounded like it, although they influenced tons of VK bands. They were more cyberpunk in their imagery, at least in the 90s and early 00s. With 13kai wa Gekkou, they kind of adopted a dark cabaret sound, which fit them well. You could argue for the goth idea, since Atsushi is quite obviously influenced by the darker 80s bands (Sisters, Depeche Mode, The Cure, The Mission, etc.), but it never was visual kei, and NEVER emo. D=
@HAL0INREVERSE Oh, I know, it wasn't my intent to come across as accusing you of saying that. Sorry! ^^;;
I don't know why everyone has to stuff them in cubbyholes anyway. They're not easily classifiable... they rarely keep to a single genre within one album, much less their entire 25 year career. But to call them emo, or to liken them to HIM.... my god, people, come on. These guys are legends! Show a little respect, geez!
@clyhiz Oh, you didn't, I simply wanted to state that. :p
Yeah, legends and I agree, it IS hard to classify them. I don't even see how they're mistaken for emo. They don't look or sound emo ("goth" and emo are NOT the same thing), and HIM? I'm not too familiar with HIM's music, but aren't they metal-like?? And I don't think Atsushi looks like Ville Vallo (or HYDE) and he DOES NOT sound like Gackt, lol.
Like @floAndalex89 said, they are not the Japanese version of anybody.
@HAL0INREVERSE HIM is to metal what Marilyn Manson is to industrial. >_>
And don't get me started on the Gackt/Atsushi thing, either. Dear lord. They both sing, and they're both Japanese. And that's where the similarity ends.
I wish imai makes this type of song again. something dark but very beautiful. I am not big fan of their recent songs although I still like Buck-Tick a lot.
For a song not made for the anime Nightwalker it seems to fit it perfectly lol and its just a great song reguardless! If your into anime and like vampires might want to look up Nightwalker! Its short but pretty good, just sad that it didn't go longer would have made a very good series if they expanded it more and developed the storyline more
