I listened to this recording of the entire Requiem and to the Bruckner Symphony #8 on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Very moving. Thank you again for posting this great Agnus dei.
This recording (previously Adda 581165) is now available on RCA Import, catalog number PID 14775 and is available at Hb direct classical. in my considered opinion the best recording, and you will be happy to have the magnificent Psaume XVIII too!
This is perhaps the finest recording of the Saint-Saens Requiem, a work that deserves to be heard far more often. The entire work, though not long, is very moving- and pre-echos of this sublime concluding Agnus Dei are heard throughout. The cd also has the equally gorgeous Psaume XVIII -even more rarely heard! Lead by Jacques Mercier, on ADDA 581165. recorded 1989. There is a more recent recording on Chandos, which is good too, but not quite as good as this one.

I would like to listen to the rest of Saint-Saëns' Requiem...

This has to be the saddest Agnus Dei in choral literature. I've sung this work twice. The provided background above would seem to be very
appropriate
. Whenever the organ becomes present, I can actually feel the ice.

"Agnus" not Angus!
...and the composer is Camille Saint-Saëns!!!

correct, not everybody is familiar with Latin
or maybe tikytiko just had written the title too fast or in a too unconcentrated constitution ;-)
