  • You really should remove the throttle body to place it on a table in order to thoroughly clean it. This is a terrible video. Why go through this much trouble just to do it half-ass when only a few more minutes worth of effort and youd have a thorough job done? I cannot stress enough how horrible of an example this video is. Nothing personal.

  • Thanks a lot. I have a 2001 Tahoe and Silverado and had all kinds of idle problems. I watched your video, followed your directions, and now both vehicles are running smooth again. You saved me hundreds and the hassle of taking the vehicles to the mechanic and picking them up. I spent $4 on cleaner and did both vehicles in less than 20 minutes.

  • other than that,, totallly bitchen pickup. been a real blesasing.

  • same pickup as mine hiccuping and dying ,or wanting to at stoplight's ,,,,arghhhh.

    wasted 480.00 on a dealer,

    they ripped me off,

    & didnt do anything,

    DUMB NEOPHYTE'S.

never go to a dealer again!!!!!!

  • I HAVE A 2009 CADILLAC ESCALADE ESV AND THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT IT WAS TIME FOR THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. THE CHARGE $660.00 FOR THE AIR SYSTEM AND THROTTLE BODY CLEANING, I WENT TO THE PART STORE AND BOUGHT THE CLEANER,$5.00 AND TOOTHBRUSH $.50 FOLLOWED THIS VIDEO STEP BY STEP AND DID IT MYSELF. 20 MINS I WAS DONE! THANKS FOR POSTING THIS VIDEO AND IF I KNEW YOU THE BEER IS ON ME!!!! EVERYONE FOLLOW THIS VID STEP BY STEP AND YOU CAN SAVE LOTTTTTTTS OF MONEY.....THANKS AGAIN DUDE!

  • I've just came from the dealer, and they want to charge me $150.00 just to clean this

  • lol nice video... straight n too the point... I'm doing this tomorrow. Thanks

  • Thanks so much! My SS is stalling and I wasnt sure if it was that easy! Cant thank you enough

  • Why won't you just remove the throttle body and clean it like that?

  • what was the problem in the beginning

  • thats probably the worse throttle body cleaning i've seen

  • what kind of radar was that? how much?

  • faltou pente na turbina

  • Those that use "Gasahol " must clean this every other month . Crap in crap out. I never put mixed fuels in my GMC truck! Corn is for food not cars/trucks.

  • my 05 is the same color and all but different rims, love that truck!

  • Your right the mechanics want to tear you a new for jobs like this. I ended up paying for an egr service to clear a CEL and 3 months later the CEL came back on. This time with the help of Youtube I investigated the issue myself. Opened my throttle body and it was clean but the passage to the egr was caked black carbon. I know this didn't happen over 3 months but more like was diluted just enough for CEL to remain off temporary. I took a clothes and cleaned. Been good for over a year now.

  • does that v1 really work?

  • 3.99 at autozone

  • Aaaah yea, you've never really had much experience as an auto mechanic, have you? You should remove this video before some poor sap uses a brush on the tb and find themselves having to spend big buck when it ruins the coating on it.

  • whatever; unbolt intake, then wash it in a dishwaster

  • THANKS!!! My 2003 GMC Sierra was stalling at low rpm's, and was idling really low. I followed this step by step, and the problem has been completely solved. Go ahead and try it for yourself. It will only cost you like 4 bucks, and 15 mins MAX!

  • all the stuff is, is carbon, caked on..and throttle body cleaner, dont think that would hurt your engine since the pistons of a normal engine have carbon on them

should use some kinda engine cleaner like Seafoam next

  • Thanks for the video, i have a 2001 Chevy 2500HD with the 6.0 L. The trottle body cleaning that you are doing is also the fix for the gas pedal being hard to push to the floor.

  • Freakin awsome dude, low idle when i came to stops but now its runnin like a charm. great video. thanks for the info and tutorial

  • i always try to get as deep as i can

    xD

  • dont we all lol

  • I just cleaned my '03 silverado's throttle body this weekend, following your video, thanks! My truck is idleing fine now. It used to practically stall at each stoplight.

  • glad to help!

  • dude i lol at how u was getting mad at the camear lols!!!!!!!!!

  • Very nice. Quick and to the point. Thanks for taking the time to upload this. I'm sure it'll come in handy for me - I have to clean mine here in a little bit..

  • Thanks for making this video! Hopefully this helps my intermittent stalling issue.

  • did your gas pedal ever gotten hard, like meaning that it wont move unless you smash the pedal while in traffic.

  • how much does the can cost? and where did you get it

  • around $5 bucks @ o'reillys

  • @DLFATPAT07 Next time you clean your throttle body off, you should unbolt and take it off and then clean it. You can get a better cleaning of the whole unit, plus shooting it down the intake manifold is not good for it if you are not going to reach inside and wipe it out too. You also get carbon build up on the front og the intake manifold If you are gonna shoot it into the intake manifold like you did you should also clean it out afterwards.

  • nice pa system

  • would have been much easier to take the throttle body off and clean it. theres only three screws holding it onto a 5.3 LS engine

  • probably, just playin it safe

  • dude why not take the throttle body off and clean it?

  • haha, first time doing it

  • Its better to take it off. The stuff you are cleaning off can harm your engine if it goes inside. Just FYI for next time =).

  • If my 99 silverado's service engine light is on and the diagnostic check on it was a P0101, indicating that the throttle body intate tube maybe loose off or cracked, do you think cleaning it may indeed turn that service engine light off?

  • Might be worth a try, reset your computer after you do it.

  • you can also unplug your battery and it will turn off if its not a major issue like an 02 or oxygen sensor

  • try it

  • I read in a few places that there might be a special coating on the inside of the throttle body, so you probably should have used a microfiber rag instead of a toothbrush.

  • never heard of that, ill look more into it

  • I think that it's just a non-stick coating for build-up. If you scrape the coating off, it only means that you'll have to clean it as often as a car without the coating.

Just don't brush your teeth with that thing and you're probably safe.

  • haha, ill make sure to buy a seperate toothbrush for my teeth

and i wont say i agree or disagree with there being a coating but i guess it makes sence.

  • lol i hav that exact same can of that!!!

  • yea i think ac delco cleaner works better now that ive used it.

  • hey whenu cleaned urs hall long did the check engine light stay on

  • for a fews days. when the intake hose is off and u start it, the Mass Air Flow Sensor sets a code when it sense's no air passing through to the enigne. This is what set mine off. i just drove around prayin it would go off and sure enough it did!

  • yeh my went off today

  • so ur saying if i clean mine like this dude did my sensor light may come on?

  • sirens in the back ground?

  • theres a nursing home a block away.
