  • I don't understand why more singers aren't coming out of Ireland. Get with the menu over there people. There has got to be somebody out there that can show these bands worldwide?

  • Such a shame! They were massively underrated!

  • David Sneddon is a successful songwriter in London - he's written for Hurts and many other emerging new talents. And yes his cover of 'Dignity' is awesome.. Check it out on Youtube!

  • @Musicfootnotes Naw yer alrite, ta.

  • Good.

  • WOW

  • fantastic, all you x-factor wannabes, losers and winners take note, this is the way its done, cant praise this band enough

  • ... he packs his lunch in a Sunblest bag, and the children call him Bogie .... evocative words from a truly timeless band

  • David Sneddon's singing 'Dignity' great cover.

  • @PKImagePhotography David Sneddon been made up to head Bin man at the council, ive packed his pieces in a Sunblest bag, go work ya hopeless TWAT

  • Totally unique voice with great songs and still find myself listening to them almost 25 years later.

  • Still love this

  • Yet another great tune from a damn fine scottish band...

  • To even think of jedward is an insult!

  • still love this song and i recently dug out the album..

  • When I lived in England... this always made me feel like I was back in Scotland more than any other tune. It's dramatic, sumptuous, dramatic like the Scottish scenery. And I'm thinking about home...and all that means

  • IT`S JEDWARD!!

  • @footstomper1 Jedward have nowhere near the talent this band has!

  • @theneepster you dont say!!! i was refering to the haircut

  • So true... for years and years... the dream remains. To save money for our Dignity... and go far, finally leave.

    Wonderful song, dudes.

  • Brilliant, just brilliant, all these years later.

  • I love this song it brings back so many memorys, all good.

  • christ this song takes me back, still one of my all time favorite songs.

  • Great Tune!! Ricky Ross is a Dundee United fan & when they won the cup in 2010 the fans sang this at full time.................truly awesome atmosphere :-)

  • Why did they ever take out the bit with the girl singing at the end on the re-released version? It was my favorite bit.

  • And I'll sail her up the west coast

    Through villages and towns.

    i'll be on my holidays.

    they'll be 'monging' around...

  • Graeme I miss you so, so much xxxxxxxx

  • scotland the brave! GET ROUND IT EVERYONE ELSE!!!

  • no love for jocks but this band are the best as well as a few more from over the border.

  • great record.

  • 9 people have no dignity, what a song! what a band! Love It!!

  • everytime they played barrowlands, they blew the place apart!!!been to a thousand concerts, but none topped this band(in glasgow),for atmosphere!brilliant live band

  • fucking quality

  • Classic tune - classic band. I just bought my first RIB (rigid inflatable boat) and the first thing that sprung to mind when thinking of a name for her was "a ship called DIGNITY". As my name is Natalie she is now named "...a ship called DIGNATTY". West coast here I come!!

  • scotland might be crap at football but their bands are pretty awesome

  • @johnston787 well said jock muncher.

  • @johnston787 and you are crap at football. :D

  • @onlyindreams001 i said that u fucking retard

  • @johnston787 I was just agreeing/concurring with you. You are also quite dense. :D

But we both like the song, haggish muncher.

  • @onlyindreams001 whothe fuck wood want to eet sheep stomach

  • I was at the Tall Ships gig as well.

  • Great stuff. Scotland has given birth to some great bands. Not recognised enough.

  • @sunray1100 what do you mean -not recognised- we've all heard of the proclaimers

  • @iampunitan Go'on yerself ya wee tunnocks tea cake. Haha! Proclaimers actually sing in a Scottish

accent which is top dollar, ken? Amazing. They make it sound so cool. There are lots of Scottish bands but WHO else sings in a Scottish accent?

  • @sunray1100 you've got me there mate - i can't think of anyone - mind you, there is a slight accent on what's his name - the bloke in travis...anyway, all the best to you and scotland from wolverhampton..take it easy bruv

  • @iampunitan cheers !

  • why do all great scottish bands fail at fame?

  • Used to play this in the car to keep me focused and awake when I took an extra job taxiing after my normal work hours for a couple of years to raise the money to buy a boat ! Roll on retirement and that west coast.... :-) Thanks guys.

  • I didn't realise Ricky was such a trend setter. You can see where Jedward got the hair idea from as well as where Simon Cowell got the waistline idea from.

  • just back from tall ships - everyone knew the words

  • cant wait to see them tonight at Greenocks Tall Ships race

  • How this back memory's !!!!!

  • quality 80's classic

  • When I realize what I missed in my life it makes me sad... I'm growing up with "all the crazy shit I did", "rara umama" and "riverside madafaka" instead of this quality music that actually has a meaning... fuckin' brilliant what I have to listen in today's clubs instead of songs like this... :/

  • always find my way to this song...... An absolute classic that has survived the years. I am Irish and a Celtic supporter and these guys may be from the other side but what the hell... credit where it due..... BRILLIANT !!!!! Bought this album in 1989 on my way to London, yes I emigrated for a while, home now.

  • worked for the council for 20 years? well he'll be inline for a good redundancy package

  • I'm from Dundee and I remember a council gardener who was nicknamed "bogey" and I often wonder if it's same guy name-checked in this gorgeous song. It's a nice thought.

  • And I'm standing outside my mud hut with straw hanging out my sleeves.I love this song I hate the Masonry for they are thieves ruining my world.

Thanks for posting it I've got plenty of dignity left pal.Used to listen to this with my Dad everyday.Awesome band.Shame we've all gotta grow older yeah.

  • only 89k views.. people are missing outtt!!!

  • All hail the Vipond.

  • good and classic are choice words for this track but i prefer unforgettable and as for the tune, maybe the people who make music today should listen and see how real music was made in an age that sound had more meaning than the noise they put onto the shelves these days

  • goood song!!!!!!!!! brings bck the memorise

  • First time I've ever heard this version, thanks for uploading.

  • maravillosa

  • This is the first release, as appeared on the "Riches" album. Wow! To hear this version again brings back memories of my youth. I lost the tape years ago moving house, and this is like rocking horse sh** to get. They redone it on "Raintown" this is a great song.

  • Not the version I remember... but great none the less

  • brilliant band this song in particular reflects the west of scotland Protestant work ethic,WATP

  • or just scottish work ethic in general, regardless of belief?

  • Went to see Deacon Blue a few months back they are still as a good as they have ever been and when they played Dignity the place went crazy.

  • fuckin bang on greg from nh mcr yerrrrr

  • beutiful song & a very unique singing voice, great!

  • Deacon Blue, what a fantastic band, fantastic tunes x

  • Looks like he was going for the Vanilla Ice look with that hair, or Rick Astley

  • That's the only thing he has in common with VI & RA as he pisses all over them in terms of talent.

  • That's exactly what I was thinking, but wasn't this before the 90's?

  • What a great song and video from the 80s!

  • best version by far
