I don't understand why more singers aren't coming out of Ireland. Get with the menu over there people. There has got to be somebody out there that can show these bands worldwide?
David Sneddon is a successful songwriter in London - he's written for Hurts and many other emerging new talents. And yes his cover of 'Dignity' is awesome.. Check it out on Youtube!

We aw used 2 fall aboot gallowhill fulla thunderbirds singing this lol lol aw they wer the days ........ till the bus hame n was sick all ova masel lol x
When I lived in England... this always made me feel like I was back in Scotland more than any other tune. It's dramatic, sumptuous, dramatic like the Scottish scenery. And I'm thinking about home...and all that means
Great Tune!! Ricky Ross is a Dundee United fan & when they won the cup in 2010 the fans sang this at full time.................truly awesome atmosphere :-)
everytime they played barrowlands, they blew the place apart!!!been to a thousand concerts, but none topped this band(in glasgow),for atmosphere!brilliant live band
Classic tune - classic band. I just bought my first RIB (rigid inflatable boat) and the first thing that sprung to mind when thinking of a name for her was "a ship called DIGNITY". As my name is Natalie she is now named "...a ship called DIGNATTY". West coast here I come!!
@sunray1100 you've got me there mate - i can't think of anyone - mind you, there is a slight accent on what's his name - the bloke in travis...anyway, all the best to you and scotland from wolverhampton..take it easy bruv
Used to play this in the car to keep me focused and awake when I took an extra job taxiing after my normal work hours for a couple of years to raise the money to buy a boat ! Roll on retirement and that west coast.... :-) Thanks guys.
I didn't realise Ricky was such a trend setter. You can see where Jedward got the hair idea from as well as where Simon Cowell got the waistline idea from.
THE BEST ALL TIME TRACK, It means so much to me, my family and friends, and I get tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat everytime I hear this song.
When I realize what I missed in my life it makes me sad... I'm growing up with "all the crazy shit I did", "rara umama" and "riverside madafaka" instead of this quality music that actually has a meaning... fuckin' brilliant what I have to listen in today's clubs instead of songs like this... :/
Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
always find my way to this song...... An absolute classic that has survived the years. I am Irish and a Celtic supporter and these guys may be from the other side but what the hell... credit where it due..... BRILLIANT !!!!! Bought this album in 1989 on my way to London, yes I emigrated for a while, home now.
I'm from Dundee and I remember a council gardener who was nicknamed "bogey" and I often wonder if it's same guy name-checked in this gorgeous song. It's a nice thought.
And I'm standing outside my mud hut with straw hanging out my sleeves.I love this song I hate the Masonry for they are thieves ruining my world.
Thanks for posting it I've got plenty of dignity left pal.Used to listen to this with my Dad everyday.Awesome band.Shame we've all gotta grow older yeah.
good and classic are choice words for this track but i prefer unforgettable and as for the tune, maybe the people who make music today should listen and see how real music was made in an age that sound had more meaning than the noise they put onto the shelves these days
me and my best mate went to see these live on my actual 21st birthday.....best birthday present ever.... cant believe that was 20yrs ago....lol... and i still love them to this day... 80's had the best music and bands ever...
This song reminds me of when i was younger, i use to sing to Deacon Blue when i was enjoyin long hot summers. This was just one of them. I love the 80's music it was different. Ment something. Not like some of the trash they realease today. Deacon Blue were great and i remember the album i had of theirs. I must of played it over and over again. :)
love this i didnt know ricky was married to lorraine lucky guy anyway just wanted to post decon blue sound band its the 80 teeessssssss class beltin voice
brilliant song, love the lyrics, the 80's full of songs that ment some thing or just original, bring back the 80's / early 90's listen to the lyrics, sweet deep as .... i was like 18ish when i hear this song on the album, cass was king then, im 37 now, where did time go? funny how a song makes u young again, inside :-)
