  • orgasmic song

  • damn my right speaker died cuz of this, literally.

  • There is no redemption for this man.... Truly an epic song, the whole album is incredible, but this song particularly... His guilt will force him to die alone.

  • this was a great song ... not a metal fan but i stumbled upon this ... fucking awesome

  • My favorite song ever

  • This is the sexiest piece of music i have ever listened to....thank you older brother for showing me this song! There guys kick ass!

  • gia sou aggeliki!

  • iiiiiiinto the treeeeees

  • The beggining of the song sounds like it`s about to end a master piece.

  • @MarianOctavarium It's just starting it.

  • i wanna leave a comment expressing my love for this song but this keyboard is incapable of processing such emotions.

  • the funny thing is that you just put Harlequin Forest

    Reverie is a cool song!!!

  • This album and band have restored my faith, that there is still good music out there and non of this nonsense that people say that the only good music, is music from the past.

  • 9:30 is just amazing

  • very goooood!!!!!

  • I hope this comment does not have many thumbs up

  • @juankashi nice try.

  • @juankashi Thumbs down it is.

  • @MyMytalMajesty Nice job reading the wikipedia page champ

  • Okay where the fuck is the rest of the song?!!

  • 7:14

  • Godlike.

  • I wonder when someone is actually going to include Reverie into one of these uploads?

  • 6:00 2nd favorite part!

  • 2:30...favorite part!!! Thank you OPETH for making EPIC music!

  • actually this song is pretty good..:))

  • Our band covered this song and it took us 5 hours just to get the time signatures of the outro spot on...these guys are fuckin talented

  • @LOL11306 best part is when they play it live, its exactly like it is on the album. he said he knows fans came to hear the song as it is, so he tries not to change it. fuckin awesome!!!!

  • mikael is quite the clever one isnt he

  • Boner.

  • Only Opeth would write a guitar solo 40 seconds into the song.. lol

  • @SigmaDraconisIV thats not a guitar solo by definition its more of harmonizing with the main riff, but still sounds awesome!

  • @LOL11306 ooh im sorry mr vice president of the pedantic club

  • @SigmaDraconisIV

    megadeth sudden death

the intro is one big solo

  • @SigmaDraconisIV Actually, Dream Theater's Best Of Times, the solo is like 3 minutes and alot of other solos from dt are longer than 40 seconds.

  • @MetalliTheater25 You didn't understand what he was saying, even though he was completely wrong in what he was saying, but he was saying that only Opeth would have one 40 seconds INTO the song, not a 40 second long solo. That part was only a melody, not a guitar solo so he was wrong anyway. And other bands have solos way earlier. Such as Snuff by Slayer, it starts off with guitar solos. I could also name other songs with solos that start earlier but whatever.

  • @SigmaDraconisIV First band that popped into my head was Metallica. Ha! Proven wrong! Lol.

  • love you for reuploading it!

  • Lol, "better quality". It's still 240p. I guess the tube couldn't handle music of these magnitudes.

  • 2:50

    Fuck yes.

  • how did the top comment get that much thumbs up? 67 people love that this song is nobody elses favourite but its their favourite? thats an obvious contradiction right there, staring you in the face.

its my favourite opeth song too, and i heavily doubt its nobody elses. sure, they have a load of other awesome songs, but most people who are into prog metal but not into death metal that much will choose this song as their favourite.

  • Una de mis favoritas

  • i wish someone would upload this ALONG WITH reverie. its a beautiful little piece.

  • Has to be one of the best songs ever written - never, ever gets old. 7:19 onwards...

  • dicks

  • I can almost play this on drums, its makes me feel so awesome :D

  • Definitely can't wait for a new album to come out!!! thinkin about it gives me shivers

  • When does Reverie end, and Harlequin forrest start? It's too hard to tell with a band like Opeth, and when you don't have the album like me.

  • @TruthSufferage "Reverie" should start playing at about 5:23 into "Atonement" or -1:05 before "Harlequin Forest".

  • April Ethereal, Deliverance, Closure, Harlequin Forest, Blackwater Park, Heir Apparent, The Lotus Eater...... Damn, Opeth songs really have the best outros .

  • Comment removed

  • I love Opeth. :D

  • i fuckin love when he comes in with that growl at 2:30 and then that verse. so good

  • This is actually just Harlequin Forest. Reverie is the last part of Atonement, the track before this on Ghost Reveries.

  • @Swooper86 actually reverie isn't part of atonement either, it's a hidden track. cause if you notice when listening to the cd when it goes into reverie the track number changes to 5, which is harlequin forest, but when you start right at track 5 it just plays harlequin forest, so you can only get to it by listening to all of atonement it's trippy

  • one of my favourite parts is when he starts to sing after the instrumental part. "Haaarlequin foo-ouo-ouo-reest" :D

  • Definitely favorite Opeth song. And possibly favorite song of all time. It's just so perfect.

  • The cd includes fifty seconds of gap time after atonement..

    Where it goes after riping?

  • Gonna see them live tomorrow along with Judas Priest, Firewind, Whitesnake and Karma Violens :D!

  • @nickolasGate7 ur a lucky bastard XD :p

  • @samfraihat1 Yeah indeed i am lol

  • 704 likes 4 dislikes. that's a win. Oh and 4 people missed the like button or some stupid shit like that.

  • ouh gosh.this song has so many layers. you think that. you ve reached its depth.and there s one more waiting for you. and another. ohhh

  • the ghost of perdition found those 4 people...

  • I don't know what I like most ... This beautiful intro, or this evil and brutal outro.

  • 5:59 ~ 7:20 - I came x)

  • Four people were caught and torn apart by the hounds!

  • 10:00 - 10:55 progressive breakdown? O_o amazing.

  • @pipedude23 No. Never use the word "breakdown" on a proper metal song.

  • 07:46 - 08:10

  • this song makes me wanna grab some clothes, food and go to the nearest forest alone with Opeth!!!

  • shit, this song owns me, cant´help pushing the reply button.

  • shit, this song owns me, cant´help pushing the reply button.

  • 4:08 - 4:18 is amazing... so chilling...

  • The only reason anyone dislikes this is because they are trolls, in and out. And everyone knows, trolls don't have a taste in good music.

  • @dom1785 I troll, and I love Opeth. So according to you, Opeth doesnt make good music? Get the fuck out u little faggot. No need for that ignorance here.

  • @forumsigner Methinks the troll doth protest too much.

  • @forumsigner I like how you admitted to being a troll, then proceeded to troll in the same comment.

I think you're doing it wrong.

  • Kids these days, can't do anything right, can they?

  • Steven Wilson is the shit in both porcupine tree and opeth.

  • Tout simplement enormissisme !!!!!

    Merci Opeth, Merci Mickael !!!

  • Tout simplement enormissisme !!!!!

    Merci Opeth, Merci Mickael !!!

  • Thumbs up if this is your favorite Opeth song and you secretly love that it's nobody elses :)

  • @tyleredge8181 Lol, this is one comment you definitely don't want too many thumbs up.

  • @tyleredge8181 lmao how'd u know whats in my head GET OUT OF MY HEAD

  • Comment removed

  • @tyleredge8181 Nobody else's? You've got 70 thumbs up O_O

  • its serious feat to have one solid album after another. very few people in metal can do that. they are like the os x of music, lolz.

  • @tyleredge8181 HELL YEAH....wait

  • wow Mikael sounds like hes in my room when i listen 2 this song. Long live Opeth. and if any1 asks im an Opethaholic

  • I like the instrumental beginning version of this song that's on the cd

  • 7:20 - 8:11 is what epic orgasms are made of.

  • INSTRUMENTS OF DEATH BEFORE ME!!!

  • You can delete the last video

  • This song represents me because I love hiding from the sun, and I really am haunted by a devil's ghost!!!!!!

    BWAHAHAH!!!!!!

  • @demetriussun You are a huge fag.

  • This song really represents me because

  • @MyMytalMajesty

    Not completely so you're right

  • @MyMytalMajesty

    I remember my dreams

  • Meeting someone who likes this music is like a secret handshake. Because this shit isn't for everyone. It takes a certain initiation in life.

But emo's... gtf OFF the cool train. Thank you kindly :)

  • u r not alone ...........opeth rules mate

  • 3:25 is the best thing I have heard in my life.

  • amoo estoo..!! =D.. (Love this) <3

  • Listen to Lights on the Lake by Swallow the Sun if you like this song. This is a good song too :) I love Opeth. <3

  • @ChaosDestroyah01 I agree, Swallow The Sun's newest album is definitely an excellent choice.

  • Crocheting and listening to Opeth - does life get any more exciting?

  • I'm a huge dream theater fan and i'm just starting to get into opeth. I got ghost reveries and still life. listened to both all the way through and i'm now just letting it sink in. The growling vocals, something i'm not used to are starting to grow on me and i'm trying to keep an open mind about it. But what is a really good cd to get into opeth? for a dream theater fan? i think i like ghost reveries the most out of the two i got.

  • @senecadawg2 Blackwater Park is the best

  • @xaviqaz I Agree =)

  • @senecadawg2

    ya get blackwater park

i also used to hate those death metal growls but i kept an open mind too and now i love them. also be careful with opeth. they are so good that if you learn to love their style and appreciate everything they do then you will not be able to stop thinking about their music. it can be distracting, but with opeth in my head constantly i am always happy

  • @senecadawg2 Blackwater Park is great, it has beautiful growls + riffs

  • @directorc

Certainly because this is easy listening music, with no grand interest except it's cool to here classical harmonics and supposed complex structure, with no suprise in it. I mean this band's like Ben Harper, for metal. It's good, well executed, proper, but so obvious, so easy... how can you feel secluded when you belong to the thousand of people group liking this?

  • Music mastery=Opeth

  • @demoon222 definitely!

  • 7:20

Perfection. So much emotion in this song.

  • @Sputnikm19 no doubt.

  • 6:00 exquisite ... ahhh

  • If I recall this was the first Opeth song I heard, made a good impression for sure.

  • Best song ever, except every other Opeth song (they are on par with this)

  • It's actually quite amusing because the danger is in the pop music on the radio and the tv. All that music does is breed conformity, materialism and sexualizes women. Opeth may have some bleak lyrics but at least they are original. If this worlds needs anything it needs more original thought and creativity.

  • @KingLewcifer Excellently said. I agree completely.

  • @KingLewcifer Exactly. It's easy to prejudice metal music, but I think that's been significant for the evolution of metal into what it is today. Notice that you most often don't have to "go deeper" into pop to be able to enjoy it. I don't know with you, but acceptance (from not having listened to metal before) has lead me into awesome musical discoveries.

  • Alot of people say O don't hang out with him cuz he's a psycho he listens to heavy/progressive metal he's dangerous and has no taste in music. I say we re the ones who are gonna be the sophisticated people cuz we know how to appreciate the amount of work and effort put into tracks like these!

  • 2 people are about to get curb stomped.

  • not this album most of the one's before always make me think of fall time don't know why they just do and fuck anyone doesn't like Opeth

  • One of my fav Opeth tracks.

  • This is a fun song to play on bass. Gotta love Opeth

  • @SzymonSzanczuk the first part is especially fun to play on guitar

  • @emperorofthenorth5 I bet!:O The Chorus is extremely fun on bass.

  • Here's the thing, you can easily only exclusively listen to Opeth, i.e. every one of their albums and it will cover most genres.

The only band you ever need to listen to.

  • This song and deliverance are masterpieces

  • Zajebiste! ;)

  • flawless, complex, good ending, but a little bit too stretched... no ofense

  • @radu2kus that comes with any progressive song. learn to love it.

  • my fave opeth song!!!

  • What is that "Dislike" button for??

  • @aGraphicWay it's for jealous pop faggots... lol

  • @aGraphicWay Rebels ^^

  • Mikael Åkerfeldt is not human

  • @OzgyarR Are you sure everyone else isn't just less human?

  • @Theonewhoclimbs28 I think that humans are pathetic. So if Mikael would be a human being, he would suck.

  • @OzgyarR youre right! hes god!

  • @MrPeterhippie even god can't do that

  • @OzgyarR No.. he's a werewolf who's going to plow me in the arse

  • @OzgyarR he is a god

  • @Shredhead316 Even more

  • @OzgyarR

    Huh, Akerfeldt is Akerfeldt :)

  • @directorc1 Don't think like that. I think most people who hear one of there heavy songs are afraid of someone branding them something they are not. I think you will find that people are willing to give music like this a chance when you get them out of the publics eye. It takes someone who is true to themselves in todays world to admit they like some kinds of music because people are so fast to make fun of you for it.

  • @Opethfan79 I agree.. my friends always say 'oh don't go in the car with him or anything because he listens to screaming rubbish'. I seriously HATE when people laugh or mock my music! All they hear is a distorted guitar and a guy scream and it's the funniest thing in the world to them. They cast the music and the people as outcasts.. so annoying.

  • Hell yeah. 2:33 is the most brutal thing that ever occurred in the history of music

  • 420 likes, ha. blaze on, and listen to opeth

  • I just jazzed my pants

  • This might be the single greatest song ever created. Its got something for everybody

  • 5:05 ... They are the trees. Bad-ass acoustic riff.

  • I love the whole song and everything but I have to say the harmony leads that come in at 5:57... are amazing.

  • @jmann114 Aye, epic moment!!

  • how good can 1 band get? lol

  • Comment removed

  • Que buen tema gracias opeth!!!!

  • Everytime I listen to Opeth, I usually get secluded because no one else around me like this type of music...

WELLFUCK THEM. IF BEING SECLUDED MEANS LISTENING TO THIS MUSIC, I'LL STAY ALONE.

  • @directorc1 lol, i have trouble finding friends into this type of music.

  • I'm sure that if they really sat down and took the time to listen and experience what Opeth has produced they would eventually be converted.

  • @directorc1 I will admit to likeing all of these musicans---- My favorets Opeth,Led Zepplin but all kinds of stuff from Country like Garth Brooks and George Straight to Bluegrass like Alison Krauss and Union Station. To stuff like Norah Jones and others like Stevie Ray Vaughn. These are just a tiny fraction of musicians I enjoy so don't let the publics eye keep you away from any type of music you enjoy.
