I run the SPEC 1an4 that out-run just about any other 150achannle today, AWESOME pre-amp fur sure, org. ran the HPs (15s with the glass tweeters), then Klipsch-Polk, now my Vonshweikerts,,, pickin' up some Sunfires soon to go with my little Bob Carver Jr.; !!!(Spinal Tap would be pleased)!!!

Pioneer's peak was during this time frame. (There's some fine Elite stuff too, but it didn't have the impact on the marketplace that the "Silver Era" did. (It raised everybody's game and helped usher in the high end as a domestic market response....) If you want to know what has the horsepower in the quality department just go to Ebay and type in Pioneer and Pioneer Elite and the bids will tell you the rest......) Nice system!

@Omri617 You'll probably have a hard time finding a SPEC-3, as they're quite rare, SPEC-1's are commonly available though... (I have 2 :P) I have a SA-8500II aswell and thats a fine amp and although I havent tried it, you should certainly be fine using it as a pre-amp

I gotta say, I love how you use all current songs proving that the Reel to Reel's play any frequency with ease man. 707s are real kool.

I remember alot of people using 707's or 909's to transfer the their studio downmix recording onto a laquer disc (dubplate) master for pressing Vinyl.

I don't know what it is about reel to reel tape but it sounds so much better than CDs. Then again, electronica sounds much better on analong sources like vinyl and quality tape.
