@nuggetowow I can't speak for the "haters" out there, but I think Lang Lang is a great pianist. He just doesn't quite play what is written in the score enough. He skips parts, and adds extra ritards that weren't in there. The point is, it's just a semi-unreasonable interpretation in my opinion. If Lang Lang had played through the piece as written, his own personality and interpretation would have shined brighter than it did in this performance. Again this is just my opinion.

@nuggetowow I actually played Gershwin's preludes 1 and 3 without mistakes for my Berklee audition and got a scholarship off it and I can sincerely say that Lang Lang didn't do Gershwin justice for this piece.

dont understand the dislikes. i thought this was great. perhaps because its not as jazzy as you might expect from gerschwin you may think its a bad interpretation but lang lang isnt a jazz pianist, so it makes sense that his interpretation would have a classical spin.

Lang Lang sucks donkey nut sacks. I won't even go as far as Horowitz or Richter, just listen to Boris Berezovsky. Listen to Gershwin Prelude 2, Blue Lullaby

It's nearly impossible to master both jazz and classical piano. They contradict each other in technique and flare. There are those who play both styles very well, but they are master of neither.

He got a real headache because he was thinking "Wow, I am so good". In my opinion, he just destroyed Gershwin's prelude no.3 and messed up that precious Steinway&Sons.

Bueno, es un pianista, no es Dios. Tampoco le puede pegar a todas. Hasta Cortot, Horowitz, Marthe Argerich, etc, tienen sus malos momentos y no poseen sabiduria absoluta para interpretar todo correctamente.

I am the biggest Lang Lang fan out there, and I did not like this either. It did not have that funky, fat rhythm that I'm looking for. Oh well, I think he should stick to Chopin.
