Hey guys I need a word of advice from Rat Terrior owners because I might get one :) either that or A West Highland White Terrior I need to know the better choice

I would go with the RT. They have an "off" switch, unlike JRT's. RT's are happy to snuggle with you and sleep in when you want. They are not always hyper.

Hi, I don't know much about Jack Russells.I tend to want to get smaller dogs. I mated the Rat Terrier you see in the video with a Chihauhua and got good results.check out my other vids to see her pups.

Hey there! I would have to recommend getting a rat terrier over a Jack Russell. My wife and I have a 1 1/2 year old rat terrier that we have had since he was 2 months old. He is a great dog. High energy but incredibly intelligent and loving.
Of course each dog is different but, from what we have read/experienced it seems that rat terriers tend to be less territorial than Jacks and tend to be less aggressive.
Both are amazing dogs but Rats tend to be a bit more stuborn, have a mind of their own and very mischievious. Jacks on the other hand are the smartest breed of any dog period, and easier to train , I think anyway!!!
@highdensity1 im pretty sure asking someone with a rat terrior if you should get a rat terrior is biased... xD but i think you should get a rat terrior because there so cute and stay hyper most there life and dont get dull like most other breeds... mines just as hyper as the day i rescued him. <3 :D
i have both a rat terrier and a jack russell they are both great dogs just jack russell's can get overweight easily but if u get a rat dog and a jack russell they both go together like pb and j i love my dogs so much i suggest getting one of both =)

Oh! they love chasing rats and vermin. My mom's rat terrier (Snoopy) caught about 4 mice about 4 years ago, when she was still a puppy!! She's awesome!
I used to live in a farm. Rat terriers are so hyperactive lol I had 3 of them. They would all gang up and kill the chickens. It's not just rats and vermins lol.
One of my Rat Terriers is 6 years old and she still does this. Haha. She will do it untils she guts whatever she is shaking. Don't let anything squeak around them, huh? Best dogs in the world!
oh and she would kill a rat. I have 2 rat terriers and at least once a week they bring me a mouse or a rat with the biggest grin on there face!:) they lounge at them with insane speed
Shake it! :) Rat terriers are the best! Very very loyal, loving and so darn cute. I'll bet she does at least one of the following: spins for food, sneezes/snorts alot, slides on her/his belly, licks themselves like a cat.
Our Rat spins or as we call it flips...and sneezes all the time...and digs in the covers. I love how they tilt their head when you are talkin to them. I have a vid of ours playin in a river please take a peek.

I have heard that several times. I kinda hope you are wrong though, LOL. He is the best dog I have ever had,but I can't wait to sleep for more than 4 hours at a time. He wakes me,insisting to play every night. He is worse than a baby, they eventually sleep through the night, at 4 , he still has not.
something you might want to try if you have a treadmill.. put your dog on it. my rat terrier and jack russell terrier both love running on it.. and will do so until they are exhausted! we do not leash them too it or anything just standing next to them keeps them comfortable and they stay on. just and idea! i wish you goodluck with your rat terror! lol

Aw she's just having a good ol' time with her ball! Soooo cute! I had two rat terriers that did the same thing with their toys. Also since there were two of them they played tug-o-war a lot with their toys and ended up tearing most of them to shreds. We went through a lot of toys that way!
Unfortunately I had to get rid of them. I moved to the city and my parents didn't want to take care of them until I found an apartment that allowed pets. We gave them to one of my dad's coworkers.
Rat terriers rule we have two a B style and a A you have a B short legs. They shake there heads back and forth like their breaking the neck of a rat that's what they were breed to do. Theres a rat terrier some where who killed 2005 rats in one day in a barn in Europe.
you talking about the ears? if so, it depends. My female's are always up unless she's really comfy (which her right one folds over. But, my male's are button ears (not to be confused with floppy). Personally I like the button ears...
My ex had a rat terrier, they are some ridiculous animals. I used to blow pot smoke in its face and it would try to eat the smoke everytime. If I were to buy another dog though, it would be a rat.
meh mine likes to take random things from the house and either eat them or play tug of war with me... she's a big rat terrier and all she does is play tug of war and run.
