  • @TheGlenmanusskinhead You need to grow up sham. Your time is over. You are right though, you know all you need or are ever going to need on your miserable, frustrated, impotent quest for an outdated and unwanted pipedream.

  • @dickydoctor lol ,is that your answer 2 everything ( sham ) :) your way of thinking is how we got here in the first place :( wateryassed people , just like u :) we the proper irish will never give in , until we get a united country :) ( SHAM ) : ) soo enjoy your boring little subbmissive life :( giving into scum and agreeing with scum about the past : ( hmm what a life :( if thats what u call it ? dont u have a proper oppinion ? or are u soo brain washed by those evil ? :)

  • ok continuing on the fucking honesty bit :) and could the fucking south if thats where u guys are from :) care when the fucking evil uvf car bomb dublin and monaghan ? and we the people in the evil secterian ,british, protestant ,north ,tried 2 help u lot ;) omg u lot are the most ungrateful irish sickeners ever :) but one day i will ram your stupid words down your throats :) when we are united :) as one .... and soo what if the irish americans helped us :) havent they the right ? :) omg stupid..

  • Best cover I've heard...Bob would lve it!

  • definately doing his old man proud!!

  • The only Marley's son who doesn't uses his name to get his crappy reggae-rap in the market.

Dammit, this is the only one who kept his father's music alive..

  • Up he rebels!!!

Can't keep a good song down

  • I've seriously been staring at the screen of my laptop with my mouth wide open for 4 minutes and 28 seconds! This is the most surprising, original and AMAZING fusion of musicstyles I've ever heard. :D

  • omg did u guys see what happened recently :( when the british govern would not give a public inquiry to the pat fannucane family :( hmm i wonder why ? would it have anything to do with collusion ? and the fact the british army set the whole thig up :( omg the sooner his govern are voted out the beter ,after all we where promised a proper and fair investa by labour :) but after the next election cons will no more get away with lies :) if they have not wrecked both countrys by then :( ....

  • Great song, brilliant version; thats all

  • MOTHER NEVER PAID ATTENTION TO ME SO THEREFOR I AM A CLOSET HOMOSEXUAL WHO MAKES UP FOR IT BY VOTING REPUBLICAN AND POSTING RETARDED COMMENTS ON EVERY BOB MARLEY VIDEO BECAUSE I AM A PSYCHOTIC 35 YEAR OLD LOSER WHO STILL LIVES WITH HIS MOTHER. I WAS DROPPED ON THE HEAD AS A CHILD AND THAT EXPLAINS WHY I CAN'T DO SIMPLE THINGS LIKE TYPE LOWERCASE LETTERS AND MAKE ANY SENSE WHAT SO EVER. I ALSO ENJOY LONG WALKS ON THE BEACH WITH MY SECRET GAY LOVER GLENN BECK

  • STONERS---THIS DUDE REALLY SUCKS.....LISTEN TO MUSIC U DONT HAVE TO BE HIGH TO ENJOY....

  • 1day the song of freedom will apply 2 ireland .. all ireland :) when britain can fuck of out of my country :) and let the irish have peace everlasting peace btw ;) we cant ever have peace while the north is an occupied place .... our people will continue to fight back .. well some of us ....soo we need an all ireland vote and an all british vote :) for a united ireland :) that would be fair :)

  • @TheGlenmanusskinhead here here!

  • @TheGlenmanusskinhead well die for it if we have to brother tiochaidh ar la

  • @lovepogues Our day will come

  • @bigmarty11288 tiocfaidh ar la brother

  • @TheGlenmanusskinhead You do understand that before the "British" arrived that this island was a host of tiny kingdoms kicking the fuck out of each other? let's be honest here, we can't afford a united Ireland, no doubt all the folk up North with free medical would love to join our utopia and pay €50 per visit to a GP lol

  • @TheGlenmanusskinhead And continuing on the honesty trail, most people in the south couldn't give a flying fuck about the north, no doubt some new york irish will take offense to that, isn't it funny how the NYFD funded the IRA via proxy for years and yet were outraged when terrorists hit them on 9/11?

  • @orbcon why would anybody give a fuck about a load of loud-mouths, bullies and thugs? Fuck America, Ireland, England and all nationalism. Don't forget youself and and other brain-washed prick you're arguing with. It's typical, you can't simply enjoy the beauty of the music, some gobshite has to pipe up some provo shit, instead of piping up a bong. Bunch of crooks and manipulators of the weak-minded, but, of course, they learned those dirty tricks from their enemy, the British crown.

  • @dickydoctor You make a fair point about enjoying the music, sure let's not worry about it, a happy new year to ye and everyone on here :)

  • how could anyone not love this song..........crazy people

  • best redemption song cover ever

  • wow !!!

  • irish folk meets reggae....am i drunk... or dreaming?

  • my name is DEJ CLINTON im better ther ziggy ang bob marley :P

  • this video is friggin brilliant!!!!!!

  • Well done, Ziggy. You're a big credit to your father.

  • Unusual - Love the Chiefs but I guess I missed why this came about - Love Bob and the Chieftains are the gatekeepers of my soul - Ziggy sounds just like BM but followers want BM fro him - I'm glad that he tries hard to shake that

  • BoB Marley LIVE

  • imitates bob maybe? it is a product after all, so they tell I

  • ca c'est magnifique homage MERCI ZIGGY

  • bob marley era unico definitivamente :)

  • I remember My Uncle telling me when he first went to England back in the day. There was signs saying no Black No Irish and someone wrote underneath it who ever wrote this wrote it well for the same thing is written on the gates of hell.

  • @Emerald007007 love it

  • @Emerald007007 The typical sign read: "No Irish. No Blacks. No Dogs." I remember it.

  • The is why the Chieftains are great, always looking to explore yet always a sturdy foot in tradition and a self sense of where they came from .... Paddy Moloney might one of musics most underrated geniuses in music.

  • Just amazing!!!!

  • every1 here open your ears to the sound ... cant u all hear the winds of change blowing thru the north of ireland ? and sooner rather than later we will be united as 1..... god bless u all ;)

  • how lovely

  • It's eerie how much ziggy sounds like bob.

  • so relaxing!

  • he has the same voice of his father! IT'S AMAZING!!

  • there is a bit of irish in all of us

  • @louise195801 Too true. Aside from Ireland, one of the few other countries to have a public holiday on St Patrick's Day is Montserrat. I don't have the space to provide an explanation. Google it. Best wishes.

  • lol to play this song on the google guitar with the keyboard, press these buttons:

    Q,W,E,Q, R, Y, T, E, Q, W, E, T, E, R, E, W, Q

  • i have read my history, the british isles were never british the britains were one tribe who were defeated by the romans. Inter isle raiding went on before and after the roman era. The problem was not small scale raiding, it was large scale invasions for profit undertaken by english nobility to maximize profits.

  • Close your eyes & it's Bob! Not a bad backing band, the great Chieftains !

  • lsnows - read your history, Ireland invaded the Brittish isles long before we invaded Ireland kidnapping our women and men for slavery I say what goes round comes round.

Just like in the UK now were being invaed by foreigners just like we invaded their countries.

  • @TheCorndoll shut up and read your history

  • zajebiste :)))

  • Celtic Reggae

  • Its scary how much he sounds like his dad

  • sorta can't belive this ever happened...but I'm sure glad it did.

    Kick the spike

  • p.s.

..regardless,the song still fkn rocks...sold I to the merchant ships",never a truer word sung..

    1 <3 :)

  • im not having a go here, just pointing out that Ziggy has changed a line from "they"ve got to fulfill their book " to We"ve got to ?

just saying..interesting he changed that particular line..

  • This colab is amazin love the chieftans as am irish and hav been brought up listenin to reggae aswel as my father is a rasta.......

One Love 2 legends brought together....

  • Bob Marley was neither African or Irish, he was Scottish and Jamaican

  • @CalvinKeys How do you know that? Most Jamaicans of slave ancestry have an Afro-Irish background. Besides, the Mar Le's originally migrated from Syria to England.

  • The way Bob Marley meant to reach out to all ethnic groups and absorbed by the Chieftains, an Irish band, living the dream.

  • those 37 people deserve to die.....

  • @Blinkzor

How on Ziggy, of you my friend ..... love and a long life... : )

  • @Blinkzor Would you mind explaining what you meant by this comment so I can eliminate the kindergarden element and try to understand you

  • ziggy has a sweeter voice than bob but bob is still and will always be the ledgend of reggae music love this song

  • Irie, :D

What a colab beetween two legends in the music world..

    delightfuly favourited <3 1

  • why is this on a "The Pogues" playlist ?

not that I don't like it, but...

  • These are both seperate songs too :) Redemption Song and 'Oh the Days of the Kerry Dances' :)

  • Absolutely The Real Grass roots !! Great Music

  • @ Isnows, Yes Jamaicans and Irish people have a lot in common. I was stopped by an Irish man on St Patrick's night 2011 who insisted on telling me about this collaboration. As to the comment you make about Jamaicans being a load of 'potheads' well anyone could say that Ireland if full of a load of drunks...

  • @SunnieDae1 Isnows must be a troll you were tricked into talking to

For my people, the Irish Celts, have long stood against all forces that tried to enslave humanity.

  • What a magnificently beautiful collaboration. Those who think that Jamaica is just a bunch of "f'n" lithargic potheads, should get up of their asses and learn to spell. It's lethargic.

  • Absolutely Beautiful

  • paddy moloney is a hero

  • perfection!

  • execellant, have they done more songs ?

  • @purplemeadows No. This was a special collaboration for the 40th Anniversary of The Chieftains I believe.

  • beyond words...perfect collaboration

  • Another thing Ireland and Jamaica have in common: good alcohol. Jamaica has great rum, Ireland, great whiskey.

  • jah bless you all,

  • brilliant !

  • His voice :O

    omg

    I miss Bob Marley <3

    :'(

    <3 this vid.

  • 10/10

    No words are sufficient.

  • the perfect blend of two very poor races

  • When Cromwell came into Ireland in the 1650's, many Irish people were literally sold into slavery in the West Indies. An irishman, Roger Casement, traveled to the Congo in the 1890s to document the horrendous abuse suffered by Congolese slaves there. His work led to the establishment of the modern human rights movement. I think this is a wonderful song for Celts, Rastas, and all the world.

  • How could anyone hate this song? What reason have you to hate this song? 33 people made a huge mistake

  • why the hell is this on a great big sea playlist

  • WONDERFUL !

  • this is amazing, loving every part of it,especially that redemption song is my favourite song =D

  • Sold out to merchant's ships by Spaniards biotch... that's right.!!! Fuck marley

  • @solariis888 How could anyone have a cold heart? You ignorant ass!

  • @BloodOnRoses127 You are the ignorant ass fool, fuck this garbage... and the hell with the barbary pirates. Racial unity is a choice not the right thing to do. The choice is up to the individual, not up for a social consensus.

  • Comment removed

  • Inspirational, Ive studied Jamaicans and Rastafarians because, I did a project on Bob Marley, and my ancestors came from Ireland, This is now my favorite song/cover. It is truly amazing, I love the mix of Reggae and Celtic.

  • @ShirleyTempley You didn't do too much reseach if you are using the term rastafarians, its rasta

  • @dermygquinn They preffered to be called Rastas, yes, i know.

  • I know making fun of dislikes is lame and wrong

but who can dislike the Marleys? and a song about redemption! Must be morons those 32

  • @tothefur

Neither lame or wrong my friend. These people are definately morons. Enjoy the music and if you can relate to the words you're a better person. Cheers!

  • indigo child beautiful little brother may peace prevail on earth~* onelove oneHumanFamily<3

  • nah, too much unnecesary parts. The flaute...ridiculuos

  • Youtube needs a Love button. . . .

  • how about a callaboration between shaggy and the rubberbandits? na dis be cool mon. one love. bless

  • Awesome song 1 love Jah Rastafari BOB MARLEY LEGEND RESPECT Never be another reggae singer like Bob apart from his Family and friends he sang with true heart and strory behind every song 1 LOVE ALWAYS keeney NE32 massive

  • shameful fact that fuck all people bother speaking irish anymore, how can we have a proper identity without the language our people had far longer than some foreign tongue? For me, English is just my international language, I'd love to hear more Irish than English, Polish, LIthuanian and whatever as I walk down O'Connell Street, not that I have anything against those people, but I think first and foremost we should speak our native language. Labhair an teanga dúchas!

  • One of the best bodhran players out there

  • I'm huge fan of reggae and I love celtic music so this is perfect..This is actually my first time listening Ziggy Marley and I just can not believe how similar his voice is to Bob's...I mean I'm delighted...:)

    Peace and Love :*

    Bob 4ever in <3

  • omg i saw that video and i click so hard on my mouse ! she's dead ..

  • awesome... it remains me to Montserrat , which has a colonial british past that produced a mixture of irish and african people

  • Ireland and Jamaica have this in common:

    1. Both were one-time British colonies

    2. Both are preponderantly English-speaking

    3. Both are islands

    4. Both peoples have been do great degrees enslaved by the mother country.

    5. BOTH HAVE GIVEN THE WORLD EXCEPTIONAL MUSIC. Oh, yeah, and the amount and quality of this cultural gift that both nations have given the world is amazing. Thanks to Jamaica as well as to Ireland.

  • @lsnows Great comment!!!! :)

  • @Tevleon Oh, yeah, and I forgot that both have great booze from them: from Jamaica, rum, from Ireland whiskey and beer.

  • @Tevleon It's rectal orifices like you that give the Irish a bad name.

  • @sailingwest there is no "bad name" that he or you or anyone can give my people. The Irish Celts have overcome and will still stand defiant even into the face of death itself.

The grim reaper himself tried to come claim our number. But he failed to cash in the chips of our death.

  • time to be a little more open minded

  • @lsnows DERS UR 80TH THUMBS UP, BUT NOT THE LAST! EVERY COUNTRY HAS PEOPLE THAT ARE FOR ONE LOVE! WE MUST ALL EMBRACE IT!! PEACE AND LOVE FROM IRELAND, TO EVERYONE!!! LETS TAKE BACK WHATS OURS! NO MORE BULLSHIT GOVERNMENTS!! TAKE WHATS YOURS GODAMN IT!!!

  • @lsnows britain was not a mother country, was a usurper country

  • @thehillcefis what you on about mate?

  • @leicestergux eire is a nation, not a colony.

  • @lsnows You make a brilliant analogy, what we have in common brings us together.

  • Both like things that are green.

  • @CaeserOct Very well pointed out!! LOL

  • So true @Walrus502353 learnt this in history class!!!

  • this is one of my favorate songs.

  • this is acctually pretty sweet.

    green and black niggers united.

  • this is the best of both worlds together in harmony i heart it so much

  • after this... i'd like the irish song "free hte people" sung by the dubliners with ziggy... in a reggae version! :-)

  • im really proud to be irish after seing this vid thank you

  • It's funny to read some of ya'll comments about 'us' people in the Caribbean lol....really...you can't possibly know anything about us our our history until you've really experienced our way of life....just enjoy the music :S

  • @shortyhelp I hate saying "your" when referring to a ethnicity or group or sommat. But "your" music is one of the greater gifts, no?

  • This song was so close to my Mothers being & she loved Bob Marley R.I.P & was close to some of the chieftans.

When ever I hear this take of Bob's song, I feel so close to them both.

Eternal blessings. May thanks for this post.

  • Genious! Two great styles combine as one. Remarkable!

  • what the fuck, this is class

  • wow amazing collabo.

  • One Love for Jah, Tiocfaidh ar la

  • que loco the chieftains con ziggy marley, copado!

  • dude. he named his kid ziggy :D

  • @jesfeuryty His name is actually David lol sorry to rain on your party. XD

  • ziggy, when you meet people, do they weep from the power of your dad's messages? what an incredible man; after all these years i'm still in awe. i hope there will be some 30th anniversary celebrations of his passing next year, as i would go out of my way to attend.

    Linc

  • This essence can not stop, this sincerity.

    Bob Marley forever:)

  • ziggy`s voice is just like bobs, and he looks like him too, it a definate that he is bobs son

  • Timeless.

  • paddy ftw

  • Comment removed

  • like this version of bob marley's redemption ..... "emancipate yourself from mental slavery...none but ourselves can free our minds....have no fear from atomic energy...cause none of them can stop the time...how long can they kill our prophets while we stand aside and look...some say it' s just a a part of it...you've got to fulfill the book...sing a song of freedom...redemption song"

  • Thanks for sharing this video. I have the CD but hadn't run across this video before now. It's been awhile since I heard it but this reminds me just how great it is and I'm going to have to update a few of my iPod playlists and bring it back into the listening rotation. :)

  • very very good cover

  • @CLEE1395 lol..there are a lot more other than ziggy...Damian, Ky-mani , Julian, Stephen, Sharon and Cedella just to name a few that still play music...

  • Comment removed

  • @thecrass79 Yeah, man. I know them. Ziggy is my personal favorite though. I listen to Damian, Julian and Stephen too.

  • This is the best collaboration ever, for a celtic and reggae fan like me, and generally music lovers out there. A dream come true. Not to mention, this song is one of of my favorite and it has a very, VERY and I MEAN VERY powerful meaning. Who knows the first step to racial unity?

    5 Stars/Like and a fave! ^^

  • @seiranayamihiko0014 Of course....the irony of this version is that both the Africans and Irish did not receive very "humane" treatment from the British Empire...several thousand Irish were shipped to the West Indies as slaves after Cromwell's rape and pillage of Ireland. Eventually they interbred with the African slaves resulting in a mix of both African and Celtic culture that shaped the history of Jamaica and Barbados.

  • @fenianpride1916 Wow... you have just confirmed what I had in mind for some time now. Except that all this time I thought it was the Britons who influenced Jamaica and Barbados. Hey thanks a lot man! Your Irish, right?
